Can't register a covid test on Gov website

It says the format of the test strip is incorrect. I've tried both typing it in and scanning the QR code. These are tests bought from Boots as we've run out of the free ones.

Anyone else have this problem?

I don’t know but a friend said she tried to register a bought test and it said you could only register tests that hadn’t been bought, so go figure!

FAQs · 10/07/2022 10:44

Same with Lloyds chemist, both positive

CuriousCatfish · 10/07/2022 10:45

Does anyone bother to register tests any more?

You don’t need to register it.

ItsSnowJokes · 10/07/2022 10:46

You can't register non nhs tests. This is how the government can say numbers are down. Go figure.

catndogslife · 10/07/2022 10:47

As others have said you can only register NHS supplied tests.
All the bought ones cannot be registered.

Who is saying the numbers are down? It's been all over the news for the past week at least that they are very high at the moment.

I need to register it to get a recovery certificate for my dd to travel to Spain.

LoudingVoice · 10/07/2022 11:01

You can only use a private test clinic to get a certificate to travel, you can’t use an NHS confirmation.

Are you in the UK and is she fully vaccinated? If so you don’t need to do a test anymore

Thank you, how do you prove to them she has had covid?

She’s only had one jab, was planning to get the second one soon but she obviously can’t now.

Says on that website under recovery that it needs to be from a private provider.

Whens she travelling, can’t she get her vaccination before she goes instead?

P205 · 10/07/2022 11:11

You need to find a private clinic who will do. the test for you. Each country has its own specific requirements so make sure they know it’s for Spain and it’s within the specified timeframe. They can be expensive though. Google for a clinic in your area.

P205 · 10/07/2022 11:13

I mean, you take your daughter to the clinic, they do the test (make sure it’s the correct type of test) and they give you a certificate with a QR code.

bendmeoverbackwards · 10/07/2022 11:56

@LoudingVoice no you can’t get a vaccination after having covid for a particular time period

OP posts:
ItsSnowJokes · 10/07/2022 12:01

Lots of places do private pcr tests as some cruise lines require them to board. I think they average at about £60-70 per test. Then after 10 days they will issue you a recovery certificate.

Boots do them, also Randox.

What period though and when’s she travelling?

bendmeoverbackwards · 10/07/2022 12:08

She tested positive on Thursday and we are travelling mid August. To be fully vaxxed the second jab has to be at least 2 weeks before travelling so start of august. I’m pretty sure she can’t have a jab so soon after having covid.

Technically you can't for 12 weeks after covid. However this is purely because you have immunity for a period of time so they dont want to waste vaccines. There are no side effect reasons why you can't have it. I know plenty of people who have had vaccines straight after covid and no side effects. If you hadn't of tested you wouldn't have known she has covid and the government say don't test under 18s! So you could wait till beginning of August and get her vaccinated.

bendmeoverbackwards · 10/07/2022 12:42

You’re not supposed to test under 18s?? At all??

You can’t register any of the shop bought test.
the government doesn’t want to know you’ve caught covid.
