ive got the secondary school application process yet to come but have found the primary one ok. Must be horrendous in lots of area. I have a friend in London who didn’t get any of the her choices two times running and they rely on public transport like many down there. She was on the verge of quitting work to from school when they flip flopped and allocated based on her appeal re a (much) nearer catchment area school

Pleased your friend got a closer school @Whiskeypowers. London must be such a headache for applications.

Has anyone else seen the scam wedding couple who've stolen their wedding from the Townhouse in Durham as they left without paying? It's gone wild on Facebook!

Two new food places opening in Durham, especially like the look of the Korean/Japanese (in older Hotter shop), when open going to take the youngest.

I go straight for the comments. Some of them are hilarious I'm going to hell.

I find the whole thing so bizarre. I appreciate the hotel owner was trying to be kind but to not even take a deposit seems a bit ridiculous especially at the moment!

Happy October everyone, autumn seems to have come bursting in. Definitely feels colder and I’m over all the rain. But lovely autumnal day today.

Hello! Yes @AlviarinAesSedai the weather has changed a little bit recently!

I’m on a bit of a health kick and bought some low carb ‘rice’ made from konjac (?). They smelled so badly of fish I couldn’t eat them but my whole house smells! I’ve washed all the floors, sprayed air freshener and it still stinks: does anyone have any other tips for me to try please?!

I've noticed a lot of the leaves on the trees are changing colour now - definitely feels autumnal!

DS is looking forward to Halloween apparently but I think he likes the idea of it rather than the actual event 😂.

went for a nice stroll along the river in Durham today with my dog. Parts were very verdant still but autumn is creeping in. It’s my favourite season and we live in an area that showcases its beauty so I feel quite happy!

Scout Camp this weekend. Many, many, many scouts descending on Moor House. Including 3 of my children. And me. Dh gets a whole weekend from tomorrow evening to Sunday afternoon all by himself!

I do enjoy autumn but crisp autumn. Not damp autumn. Plus I hate driving to work in dark and at moment driving back with the autumn/winter sun in my eyes.
The wears in Durham river are going to be cleared, thank goodness.
My DD went to Moor house one year, she missed her own bed. 😆.
I don’t mind Halloween but I don’t answer my door. I enjoyed watching Hocus Pocus 2. But do love the decorations.

Anyone local to Chester le Street the postbox 📮 is great, with knitted witches etc. Also Coffee Bank has an amazing window painting and knitted pumpkin 🎃 and witches outside. 🧙

I didn't notice coffee bank - we were there today as DS1 had his covid booster at the supedrug pharmacy. He's been doing a course based at cornerstones, in the methodist church, 3 days a week, too, but it only took a couple of days for him to not need me to travel with him 👍

Seen signs for the gift and food fair back at Ushaw, this year.

Hope DS is enjoying the course @PickAChew.

I always miss the Ushaw events and then see their posts on social media a few days after they've happened! Need to be more on it looking at their listings.

They have jack o skeleton drawn/painted on one window and ghost and haunted house on other. The coffee and food especially the cakes are lovely.
Every celebration this year they have had a windows. painted .
The Methodist church always has lots on. Nice cafe too.
You must be relieved that your DS can go on his own. Good couple of buses for him to get home too. PickAChew.
