Quick fire question: chocolate

I need to buy some chocolates as a gift. Would you get:

  1. a variety of nice stuff from supermarket like Lindt, Lily O Briens, Guylian

  2. selection from Hotel Chocolate

  3. selection from Thornton’s

I don’t eat chocolate hence asking. Spending about £25. Needs to be just chocolate.

I'd go for Thorntons

VenusClapTrap · 06/07/2022 17:41

Hotel Chocolat would be my choice.

LubaLuca · 06/07/2022 17:42

Anything but Thorntons for me. I'd probably like a selection of all sorts.

Hotel Chocolat.

Kinsters · 06/07/2022 17:42

Depends who you're buying it for and why. Personally I just like cheap supermarket chocolate but my parents prefer something fancier. I didn't know Thornton's still existed! Used to love the shop as a teenager.

TheCraft · 06/07/2022 17:42

Mmm thorntons please!!😉😂😋

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/07/2022 17:43

Hotel chocolate

hilbil21 · 06/07/2022 17:43

Hotel chocolat

Footbal · 06/07/2022 17:43

Not Thorntons. Do you have Leonidas where you live?

SirVixofVixHall · 06/07/2022 17:43

Hotel Chocolat is a lot better than Thorntons, and most supermarket chocolate isn’t good at all. So HC would be my choice.

Paprikapommes · 06/07/2022 17:43

Hotel Chocolat or Booja Booja Truffles if I'm unsure whether they have dietary restrictions. You honestly can't tell, they're delicious.

CTPT · 06/07/2022 17:43

Hotel Chocolat

Notanotherwindow · 06/07/2022 17:44

Thornton is my favourite but I preferred the ones from the shop, not the supermarket ones. They don't taste as good.

Sprig1 · 06/07/2022 17:46

Another one who says it depends on who it is for and why. I am not keen on Thornton chocolate and don't like Hotel Chocolat. I would much rather have what you can pick up in the supermarket.

iklboo · 06/07/2022 17:47

BENONA CHOCOLATES are really nice.

Clementine8 · 06/07/2022 17:47

Anything but thorntons.
i love chocolate bit hate cheap boxes of chocolat like thorntons, milk tray etc. If i get a box i would go for hotel chocolate or similar.
alternatively i would love a mix of smaller chocolates like a box of malteaser, terrys, bar of dairy milk, red lidnt.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/07/2022 17:48

Hotel Chocolat

Thorntons, cheap? Really? They are posh where I come from 🤣

hugoagogo · 06/07/2022 17:50

Hotel chocolate from that selection, Thornton used to be nice, but are really lardy and over sweet these days. Lily O'brien is cheap and nasty.

haggan · 06/07/2022 17:51

I think they ruined their brand by moving it onto supermarket shelves.

I would go for Hotel Chocolat

Good point I guess. Still my faves though

Tonys

ClinkeyMonkey · 06/07/2022 17:54

I love Lily O'Briens. Especially those dessert chocolates.

stuntbubbles · 06/07/2022 17:54

None of those! Hotel Chocolat is just Thornton’s with middle class marketing anyway.
