Good natured prank ideas?

I take care of a platonic friends apartment while he is abroad every summer (water plants, mail) and have gotten in the habit of pranking him every year. Past pranks are things like hiding clean, new dogs bones behind cushions in his couch and bed (he hates dogs especially mine), leaving cans of dog food in his pantry, I bought a weird creepy banana-man dog from amazing and his it under the cover of his bed. Bought some prank matchbooks and mixed in with what he has….really silly stuff. He pretends to hate it butt he really loves it because he tells everyone and most of the things I have done over the years are now on a shelf, not tossed.

my brother is deceased and he lives away from family, so this kind of silly stuff goes far.

Prawns in the curtain poles. Always raises a laugh.

LittleSockOfHorrors · 05/07/2022 23:38

Recreate one of the photos he has on display and frame it and put it next to the original.

Maybe using your dog!

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/07/2022 23:38

Astroturf his lounge.

HarrietSchulenberg · 05/07/2022 23:40

Put a picture of your dog in a few of his picture frames. Bonus if you have the cash to print a canvas of your hound and hang it in place of an existing artwork.

Belle89 · 05/07/2022 23:40

All the labels off tinned food?
Whoopie cushions?
Pots of glitter on tops of doors or cupboards
Dog treat in every shoe, every drawer in the house? Bonio type, not anything that will rot

Belle89 · 05/07/2022 23:41

Bonios in every coat pocket and bag.

blisstwins · 05/07/2022 23:44

Prawns is pretty mean! He is a friend! Astro turn is $$ I think, but I like the spirit.

Love this. Will take a picture of me cuddling with my dog and photo shop his head into my body. I will frame it and it will be horrified delighted.

Carefully steam the label off a can of soup or beans in his cupboard, and stick it to a can of dog food.

good idea too….
good-natured pranks have to walk a very fine line. He would be upset if I caused him to waste food and glitter is so hard to clean. Good pranks have to show you think about and get the person, without embarrassing or harming them.

i really appreciate everyone’s suggestions so far. Believe it or not realizing how much he looks forward to it causes me a little bit of stress

he is so mindful of waste he might eat it he has a keen sense of smell though…will think about it!

He would eat a tin of dog food rather than waste it?

I am not sure he would know it was dog food. If he thought it was soup
or a stew he might eat at least some of it and make a a note not to buy the brand again. He is not cheap, but he is frugal.

Get some McVities Iced Gems and put them under his bedsheet - pointy tops up - he'll think the springs are coming through his mattress.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/07/2022 00:29

Washing up liquid in his toilet cistern.
Freeze all his cutlery.

IJoinedJustForThisThread · 06/07/2022 01:36

What is it they used to do in boarding school books when we were kids, is it called apple pie beds? You fold the bottom sheet in half so they can’t get their legs into bed

IJoinedJustForThisThread · 06/07/2022 01:39

Rearrange the furniture in the lounge.

Swap the contents of his kitchen cupboards so he opens the cupboard to get a tea bag but can only find plates.

turn the books in his bookshelves back to front.

I'm not sure that qualifies as "good natured"

EverySockIsOdd · 06/07/2022 01:41

Swapping someone's salt and sugar over is always fun, so they end up with salt on their cornflakes and in their coffee.
