I've just renewed last Wednesday.
I'm hoping it doesn't take too long as I have a holiday booked.
Has anyone else renewed etc lately ?

Sent 1 off for renewal middle of May and still waiting.

Got confirmation it was received 4 weeks after posting it.

Don't need it until next August so not relying on it being quick. Will send the next two off in September

Online service. 16 days from beginning the process to receiving it. Standard renewal for a child. No fast track.

SisterAgatha · 09/07/2022 15:08

And that was end of June

UncomfortableBadger · 09/07/2022 16:17

Passport arrived this morning but as feared, they’ve done it wrong & not recorded the official observations as requested, despite the fact that I sent a comprehensive covering letter and explicit instructions on what needed doing. Infuriating and it will no doubt now take months to get it corrected

UncomfortableBadger · 09/07/2022 16:18

To add, it took 10 days-ish from online submission to receiving new (incorrect) passport

Ganymedemoon · 09/07/2022 16:20

2 weeks from online submission to getting passport.

Mumabear239 · 12/07/2022 10:06

Received call this morning 9:09am from passport office regarding sons passport , he put me on hold to speak to someone else and yet am still on hold 1hour and 1 minute later .
🙁

honeylulu · 17/07/2022 00:31

Now nearly 11 weeks waiting ...

prettybird · 17/07/2022 08:56

10 weeks ago today (well, at 9.45) that they officially acknowledged receiving dh's documents Angry

Actually 10 weeks last Wednesday that they got them, as confirmed by the Royal Mail "signed for" delivery Hmm

bluesky45 · 17/07/2022 09:05

We've done 2 renewals in April and they came back in 3 weeks. Also applied for kids first passports and it's been a right pain and we're still waiting 13 weeks later. Had issues with extra documents etc. Just had emails saying they've been approved now though.

hopeishere · 18/07/2022 11:01

Have got emails saying they have been approved! So five weeks so far from applications going in.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/07/2022 11:03

I did mine and both DSs. They all came in less than 3 weeks.

prettybird · 18/07/2022 11:32

Dh can now expedite his passport renewal - but only if he can provide evidence that he's travelling within 2 weeks. Hmm

As per their advice, we haven't booked anything until we received the new passport Confused The summer is fast disappearing and we can't plan anything Angry So it stays stuck in Belfast - which seems to be one of the worst centres for "stuck" applications Angry

We've already missed an event that my db organised last week where he lives in the south west of France that we would've wanted to go to Sad

prettybird · 18/07/2022 11:36

....Belfast contrasts with Bootle who turned around ds' renewal (but first adult passport) in just over 2 weeks Smile. His passport was applied for on 18 April and arrived on 3 May - while I was out posting off dh's old passport Hmm

WhyNott · 27/07/2022 21:47

Bumping this thread to ask if anyone had had their passport expedited? How long did you wait after they said they would expedite it? I'm past the 10 week wait now!!

Mortified2468 · 27/07/2022 21:51

Renewed mine recently. Application submitted online Saturday evening. Old passport posted off Monday morning. New passport in my hand Friday morning. I was amazed!!

prettybird · 27/07/2022 22:27

New applications (ie submitted within the last month) seem to be done really quickly ConfusedAngry

Before that, it seems that it was luck of the draw/which office it was sent to. Ds' renewal (but first adult one) took just 2 weeks in April. (Bootle)

Dh's passport (submitted 2 May, old passport signed for at the Belfast office on 4 May, scanned into the system on 8 May) still hasn't been processed. It's a straightforward renewal Angry

We can't expedite it because - as per the advice - we hadn't booked any travel until we got it back Confused

I renewed my passport using post office digital service. I had my photo done etc and went for a coffee. Got email confirmation from passport people while I was in cafe. Updated as to when they received old passport, printing passport etc. In total from start to receiving passport took 1 week. Photo is horrendous! Despite that it was well worth the £16 charge.

WGO · 27/07/2022 23:50

Son's first adult passport. Arrived next day, processed and new passport arrived a week later. Old one a few days later.

Other son renewal of child passport (post same day but up north to a different address). It arrived there, checked and it's all gone quite.

makeitsonumber1 · 27/07/2022 23:59

Child renewal using online service - 1 week from posting old passport to receipt of renewed passport. Cancelled passport and non-uk passport returned within two weeks. This was about ten days ago.

DinosaursEatMan · 28/07/2022 00:00

First child’s passport has been at Bootle for 4 weeks stuck at ‘documents received’. Rather disappointing considering the quick turnaround for others.

Fancydancer1934 · 28/07/2022 00:18

Renewal of passport that expired 2019. Took to post office last Thursday and told could be 9-10 weeks. Received today.

You should be able to expedite as it's been over 10 weeks.

prettybird · 28/07/2022 09:08

Nope - he can't. Confused

To be fair, at 10 weeks precisely from when they said they'd got the documents, it changed their message to say he could now expedite but that he has to send proof of travel/compassionate grounds in order to be expedited ShockConfused

Dh is still going to try to do so but expects it to be knocked back, as I've seen others have been (because no travel is booked) on the Passport Chaos FB group Sad

WhyNott · 28/07/2022 09:59

How frustrating @prettybird I read somewhere that someone had booked a very cheap flight and sent that as proof of travel, it was cheaper than them losing the holiday. I have had an email from the expedite team saying it will be passed on to be expedited but I have never been asked for any proof of travel. I don't have Facebook but that sounds a good resource, if mine goes on any longer I might have to join Facebook just for that! Really hope it's sorted quickly for you.
