I've just renewed last Wednesday.
I'm hoping it doesn't take too long as I have a holiday booked.
Has anyone else renewed etc lately ?

Ilovemyfairylights · 06/07/2022 12:00

Renewal for both dh and myself.Online application sent last Wednesday and new passports received this morning so just one week.

DS child to adult. Applied online 4th June and came 2.5 weeks later. Was very impressed after reading about all of the delays.

VivaDixie · 06/07/2022 12:15

I applied online for both DS child renewals on Friday 24 June - posted the old ones off on Monday 27th. Just had confirmation that they are both printed and ready to be posted within the next few days.

youknowitsnotthesame · 06/07/2022 20:07

Just had passport approved
Can't believe it's only taken a week
Hopefully it will be printed soon

Mine was about 2 weeks

While it's great that people are getting passports back quickly, it's an absolute disgrace that some of us who applied in April and earlier, are still waiting and may have to fork out upgrade fees in an attempt not to lose thousands of pounds for cancelled holidays.

I'm so angry about the situation. It's desperately unfair Angry.

Absolutely agree, it’s disgraceful and an absolute shambles. 9 weeks waiting and we travel in 3. I plan to go to Liverpool 48 hours before our flight if I still haven’t got it.

Theres a Facebook group called Passport chaos 2022 with lots of advice.

DrFoxtrot · 06/07/2022 20:58

@ChittyChittyBoomBoom I'm in the group! I have to look away though sometimes for the sake of my blood pressure Grin.

We travel two weeks on Friday so I can start trying to upgrade on Friday. There is a chance I'll have to turn up at Liverpool 48hrs before travel so unfortunately I've had to cancel two days worth of GP appointments in case I have to go. We might have to get a locum to cover me. So as well as paying an extra £100 each for two passports, it will potentially cost my practice £1200 to cover me for two days and there's also the cost of travelling to Liverpool!

If only there was some sort of clear process in place for trying to get through older applications.

I AM SO ANNOYED! Can you tell?! Grin

DrFoxtrot · 06/07/2022 21:00

This is probably highly outing as I've moaned about this constantly in real life Blush

Kitten2 · 06/07/2022 21:00

My DD (child, second passport) arrived 16 days after we sent the old one off

Boating123 · 06/07/2022 21:03

My husband applied to renew our daughter's passport at the end of April. It arrived two days ago.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 06/07/2022 21:04

@DrFoxtrot i honestly feel your frustration 😩 I cannot believe the amount of people who are losing holidays and even honeymoons on the group 😢. I’ve only had to shuffle nail and hair appointments thankfully.

I’ve just emailed my MP 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I hasn’t planned to do it until next Wednesday as I’ll have been waiting the 10 weeks then plus we’ll be flying within 2. I couldn’t wait though 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Good luck.

DrFoxtrot · 06/07/2022 21:10

@Boating123 that gives me hope!

I can afford to pay extra money for upgrades but I don't see why I should. And I feel awful for those who find it difficult to get the extra money needed. Some people were paying £400 to upgrade 4 passports! It's shocking. I really feel there should be an inquiry and compensation for those who have been affected the worst.

DrFoxtrot · 06/07/2022 21:11

@ChittyChittyBoomBoom good luck too 🤞

PrincessSpanky · 06/07/2022 21:13

Child renewal send off 1st of June. Delivered the 17th of June.

Mandatorymongoose · 06/07/2022 21:15

DHs took 2 weeks (sent 15th of June) DS took 3 but first photo got rejected which slowed it down a little. Only documents we had to send were old passports which we sent next day tracked. One went to Glasgow and one down south somewhere.

I was impressed given all the reports of chaos!

ThingammyBob · 06/07/2022 21:20

I'm into week 9 of waiting for a child's renewal. The application history was saying it was being processed but then about 4 weeks ago it went back to just saying that the documents had been received so I have no idea when it is likely to arrive.

imnottoofussed · 06/07/2022 21:27

Three passports sent last week all returned in a week. Counting myself very lucky.

harridan50 · 06/07/2022 21:29

3 weeks renewal on line
seems to be the quickest

UncomfortableBadger · 06/07/2022 21:30

I’ve just had a text to say that the online passport renewal that I submitted 6 days ago has just been sent for printing - mine isn’t straightforward either as I need my name changed and an official observation noted also. We’ll see…

HouseofGods · 06/07/2022 21:33

13 days from posting my old passport to the new one arriving today.

goldfinchonthelawn · 06/07/2022 21:33

Mine took two weeks. I wasn't expecting it to be that quick.

DrFoxtrot · 06/07/2022 21:38

I wish there was a way that we could cancel April's/ earlier applications and all apply again! They'd be here in a week FFS 🙈😂

Shoemadlady · 06/07/2022 21:39

Got ours back just under the 4 weeks mark
