I've just renewed last Wednesday.
I'm hoping it doesn't take too long as I have a holiday booked.
Has anyone else renewed etc lately ?

I’m glad that everyone seems to be getting their passports quickly now, but it just makes me want to cry 😭. I just cannot understand it…unless it’s about manipulating the figures? 🤔

MermaidSwimming · 06/07/2022 23:06

Did online renewal in June, took about 3 weeks

Senderandme · 06/07/2022 23:11

I got mine today. Took about two weeks in all.

NoNoNoooo · 06/07/2022 23:28

Two days fast track! 🤩

I’ve heard it’s the online applications that are taking a while but check and send at the post office is ok.

Sqeebling · 06/07/2022 23:33

Renewed end of may and new one delivered 3 weeks later

TheOrigRights · 07/07/2022 16:00

I sent my son's renewal (online) Tuesday 28th June and the new one has just arrived. 6 working days!
29th they reminded me to send the old one, which I'd already done.
5th it was approved.
6th it was printed.

No way??! Which office was that??

rainbowandglitter · 07/07/2022 17:37

I applied 19th June and got mine through the post yesterday. Renewal not a first passport

TheOrigRights · 07/07/2022 17:45

@hopeishere I don't know which office it was. There's nothing on the envelope or in the passport.
It was all done online.

youknowitsnotthesame · 08/07/2022 09:35

Passport arrived this morning.
So it's taken 9 days altogether from doing the application
Hopefully this is good news to everyone else and this means they are finally getting their arse in to gear.
So relieved

@TheOrigRights 9 days for me! Can't believe how fast it was

@TheOrigRights If it was done online, then the office that in theory is processing it is the one that you posted the old passport to. Although apparently it might get shipped off again to another office - which in itself can cause delays.

Ds' renewal (but first adult) went to Bootle and he got his new passport back in just over 2 weeks. Applied mid April.

Dh's renewal was submitted on 2 May, documents received 4 May (acknowledged as such on 8 May) and is still sitting at "Documents received" (having regressed from "Processing", which it has been at since 9 May, about a month ago, like so many others). It was sent to Belfast.

TheOrigRights · 08/07/2022 10:14

@prettybird ah yes, I didn't think of that.
I sent it to Bootle.
Three cheers for the Bootle office!

Deathraystare · 08/07/2022 10:55

I was eavesdropping on the bus and someone was complaining about it taking so long and that they would have to pay £75 to fasttrack!

hamandpotato · 08/07/2022 10:56

Still waiting at 10 weeks Angry

IsAnybodyListening · 08/07/2022 10:58

Mine just took 8 working day's. Came back last week. Did the renewal online.

WhyNott · 08/07/2022 11:01

First child passport applied by post, sent 16th May recieved a message 24th May saying it had been received and not to contact them, they would contact me if more information needed. I haven't heard anything but it's coming up 7 weeks 🤷‍♀️. Applied with about 20 weeks to go before travel so should be OK but I am willing some news on it...

honeylulu · 08/07/2022 11:32

Passport applications from late May onwards seem to be going through quickly. There seem to be separate teams dealing with current applications and backlogged applications. So there are LOADS of us who applied March to early May still waiting. Some offices are worse than others. Belfast apparently has an 8 week backlog! Guess where mine is?

Applied 3rd May, no sign of movement. They are refusing to upgrade/expedite until 2 weeks before travel + 10 weeks since docs received. This will be 29 July when the application will be 12 weeks old. And that say they can't guarantee anything and I'll have to pay an upgrade fee!

I'm sick with worry. I thought I'd applied with loads of time ie three and a half months before the holiday!

I'm really happy for June applicants getting theirs back so quickly but I don't understand why some of the resource can't be directed to the backlogs.

I just know I'll be one of those having to queue up at the Passport office 48 hours before the flight with a thumping heart and trembling hands!

billyt · 08/07/2022 13:09

Did ours online including iPhone photos.

16 days from application to passport receipt.

AuraBora · 08/07/2022 13:24

Just under a month for me (applied 8 June, passport received 6 July). First child passport, no issues.
Does seem a bit of a lottery but I would think for November you'll be fine!

AuraBora · 08/07/2022 13:25

P.s. all done online. I think via post takes longer

AuraBora · 08/07/2022 13:27

@honeylulu that's rubbish! Hope you get yours soon!

ActualMadness · 08/07/2022 13:37

15 weeks and 5 days so far, my whole families passports have been at Durham not moved off documents received

tattychicken · 08/07/2022 13:37

I've done a child to adult renewal plus 2 x child renewal and they all took 4 weeks, one In March, one in April and one in May.

Mumabear239 · 08/07/2022 13:58
