Party bags and no inspiration of what to put in them

Frangipanipie · 05/07/2022 05:43

7yr old’s party this weekend and trying to work out party bags. She would like the usual ‘tat’, I don’t really want to buy plastic nik nacks because they get used once and that’s it. She has been to parties where she gets a book and a cupcake but all the children looked a bit disheartened at the books at the end. Ideas gratefully received please!

Sweets bubbles and a packet of flower seeds were popular here.

DiamanteDelia · 05/07/2022 06:09

Seeds, Tinc stuff.

Go to Flying Tiger (or online) get a selection of things for between £1-3 (activity book, markers, bead kits, paint set etc)- put it in a box, kids choose one thing when they leave. Get a few extra so even last kid has a choice - leftover can be used for stocking fillers at Xmas. This was very popular at my kids party (disclaimer- was a few years ago and not sure of current prices /stock )

Can I come to one of your parties?

HelloCanYouHearMe · 05/07/2022 06:26

I was having the exact same dilema last week. In the end I went for:
Mini colouring book
Coloured pencils
Small bouncy ball
Mini puzzles
Sweets
Cake

Fun snaps are cheap and come in little cardboard boxes.

One year I got a big bag of those florist bead things that expand in water and divided them up into little bags. They were popular.

I'm assuming that is a list of ideas... Not all of it in one bag!

The kids were excited about a packet of seeds???

SamMil · 05/07/2022 06:51

Cardboard masks
Scratch art
Mini colouring books & pencils
Stickers
Seeds
Sweets
Book

I also went to a party recently where they included a toy from a charity shop - good way to give something the kids will like but without feeling guilty about adding to the plastic stuff in landfill.

DDivaStar · 05/07/2022 06:52

If you buy one large toy rather than lots of bits it can last better. I've bought rubbix cubes, grow your own eggs and pencil cases before......

Floydthebarber · 05/07/2022 06:53

I got little paint your own stained glass decorations from hobby craft. Couple of pound but some were discounted to 75p. Some bubbles, mini chocolate bar, sweets and some mini party rings. Slap bands always seem popular and those pop fidget thinfs are still very much in demand with dd1 and her friends who are 7.

Br1ll1ant · 05/07/2022 06:53

Top trumps?

AdriannaP · 05/07/2022 06:54

Please no more seeds. We have a ton already and has every child got a garden? My DC likes gardening but lost all enthusiasm about more seeds.
a sweet cone is fine or some temp tattoos, stickers, a cake. No more activity books or pencils, we have about 10!

Br1ll1ant · 05/07/2022 06:55

We’ve also had a water bottle filled with sweets that was popular

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 05/07/2022 07:08

I like Baker Ross for these kind of things

Sheets of fake tattoos - couple per bag www.bakerross.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=Tattoo

Themed notebook/memo pad and pencil www.bakerross.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=Pencils

Little craft kit thing www.bakerross.co.uk/arts-and-crafts/craft-activities/kits

Pack of haribo

Balloon

One of those really bloody annoying noise makers that they blow into 83 bazillion times until you want to cut your own ears off to reduce the pain.

BritishDesiGirl · 05/07/2022 07:16

Sweet cones. You can get the cellophane from a craft shop. Sweets from Poundland.

Moomoola · 05/07/2022 07:16

i had a chum who was budgeting, so put a handful of quality street in a bag. And some cake. Cake is always surprisingly popular!
I love the idea of a lucky dip on the way out..though I remember them as being quite emotional if someone got the gift you wanted!

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 05/07/2022 07:34

We did bucket and spade set from poundland, but have seen similar in tescos. Friends were playing with them at the park for years, although they might have been a bit younger.

AtillatheHun · 05/07/2022 07:40

A mini potted cactus
a mug with a nice design (eg sainsburys hane them for about £2) and some sweets inside
f you can get a cheap bulk deal in time, a water pistol
torch (pack of 10 for 7.99 on Amazon)
it’s going to be hot as Hades this weekend, so a tiny hand held fan - £2/pop at Halfords of all places

To be fair, you don't need a garden to grow things.

Backtothefuture1908 · 05/07/2022 07:55

Sweetie cones.

GoldenGorilla · 05/07/2022 08:09

I always do one bigger thing rather than lots of tat.

eg tesco sell mini bags of Lego (like really small Lego sets) for £3.50, so last time each kid got a Lego bag and a tube of smarties tied together with a ribbon. They seemed happy,
