but it’s in Norwich. I’ve never even been to Norwich and I don’t know why I was even looking there! It can only be a sign, right?!

It's funny, while I can see the appeal from a heritage point of view, I personally would hate to live in it, I hate the look & feel & panelling etc.

Often I love the houses shared here - so many beautiful old houses in the UK, not at all as much of a thing in Ireland.

acornpattern · 02/07/2022 17:31

Move to Norwich! I'm from there and it's my favourite place in the world. Wish I could move back.

FreyaStorm · 02/07/2022 17:32

I think it’s a bit dark and pokey. Claustrophobic. Some nice features but not practical to live in I think.

Riverlee · 02/07/2022 17:33

It’s gorgeous. Could you find an alternative house and replicate the look?

The furniture looks like Old Charm to me. Very expensive new (but you can get good bargains on EBay).

The main negative to me was the toilet in the bedroom. Why didn’t they close the door!! And a small garden.

swedex · 02/07/2022 17:36

No garden
No parking
The kitchen looks like it needs replacing and then that could uncover a whole host of problems!
It's over half a million quid!

UuijungKo · 02/07/2022 17:36

I really love old houses, in particular I drool over manor houses but I really dont like this one. I think its the way the owner has decorated it. The garden is also a big no no for me.

hugoagogo · 02/07/2022 17:37

You should totally do it, it's really cheap!
When you get up in the morning you can make yourself a cup of tea and drink it here.

Any house like that has staircases that are a death trap for anyone over 21. Do yourself a favour and pick something like a nice manor conversion with beams AND sensible stairs, parking, and a nice layout. You'll be much happier in the long run!

hugoagogo · 02/07/2022 17:39

In the evening you can pop down here and watch the bats.

You'd have spiders and mice for company in a place like that I reckon.

KittyCatsby · 02/07/2022 17:41

Beautiful house but deserves a much nicer kitchen & bathroom. Something to put your stamp on it maybe ?

Sleepyquest · 02/07/2022 17:42

Oooh down the road from me. Buy it OP, you'll make friends easy :)

Awrite · 02/07/2022 17:44

Ugly building across from it so no pretty views.

catwithflowers · 02/07/2022 17:44

If only it had a gorgeous walled garden instead of a little yard!! Pretty house but the parking and lack of garden would put me off.

ShowOfHands · 02/07/2022 17:46

I lived in Norwich for 6 years but have moved out to a village now. It's a wonderful place to live.

Tomblands is lovely but very busy, no parking, lots of students and tourists up and down your road, probably photographing your house, shoppers wandering past and a surprising amount of crime because you're in a city centre, a stone's throw from the main clubbing street in the city.

It's very pretty though. Part of the film Stardust was filmed down there. Norwich is lovely but Tomblands isn't a place for downsizing to simplicity.

dutysuite · 02/07/2022 17:48

Lack of outdoor space kills it for me

KimWexlersPonyTail · 02/07/2022 17:53

Poor outside space that looks a bit shaded with no sun
You would need to buy their furniture
Its Grade II listed
There are steps and stairs everywhere
Finally, the heating bills will be enormous!

I love Norwhich though

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 02/07/2022 17:54

It's alright OP, I'm already in Norwich (I actually used to work on Princes Street, and although it's off Tombland it's amazingly quiet most of the time). How about I buy it for you, and I'll graciously let you come & stay for a weekend every now & then? Grin

Anatomical · 02/07/2022 17:56

If you look at the first pic just past the white building and before the Church the

Anatomical · 02/07/2022 17:57

Sorry pressed too soon!
The path goes to two big plague pits so good thing you wouldn't mind ghosts!⁹

Quantly · 02/07/2022 17:59

Thank you for all your posts (@hugoagogo you’re meant to be dissuading me!). I’m very glad that there are more sensible people than me out there.

This seems like the perfect solution! How soon can I come?

And just to add, St Peter Hungate is about 50m away & has a lovely little garden. Also you do occasionally get places to rent in the Cathedral Close itself which are very similar, but much more private.

Hello, my name is sadeyed and I am from Norwich.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 02/07/2022 18:01

No parking, but looking at the plan I reckon you could knock out those front windows and install an 'up and over garage door' Job done. Everybody happy. Except those bloomin' conservationists.

Sprig1 · 02/07/2022 18:01

Love house (and amazing floorboards). Shame there is no garden/parking.
