York restaurant recommendations

Hi.

I'm going for a little childfree break to York for a couple of days with DP and was looking for places to eat.

There are so many so I thought I would ask for your recommendations.

Are you Vegan or do you like Vegan food? If so I'd recommend Source. Really imaginative dishes, kid friendly, and right in city centre near the castle.

If you are not vegan and like well cooked meat/salads etc then I'd recommend Yakamoz Turkish restaurant, we really enjoyed it there 😊

Yak and Yeti - amazing (nepal) food, the everest lamb is gorgeous!

From breakfast/brunch I recommend brew and brownie, their pancakes are delicious!

Please try Cresci. It's a pizza restaurant. Lovely pizza.

Great service and its excellent value for money. I would recommend booking.

If you like fine dining and feeling like splashing out I would recommend Roots or Le Cochon Aveugle.

Skosh is great.

Definitely Partisan for brekkie/brunch .

Roots is lovely - great food in a beautiful setting

Il Paradiso is amazing, but check if they take cards, it used to be cash only. Oh, and you'll need to book.

We had really good tapas at Tabanco by Ambiente.

Rustique. Their set menu (certain times only) is great value and lovely.

La Vecchia Scuola. Nice Italian, gorgeous surroundings, fabulous pianist Friday and Saturday evenings

The Rattle Owl is very special, always excellent food, not as pretentious as Roots

Loads of good recommendations on here! So many lovely places to eat. We had amazing tapas the other lunchtime at a place called Soltano. It's hidden away on little stonegate, but defo worth a visit!

Roots, Skosh and Le Cochon all good but you'd need to book.

We have had two ‘treat’ meals in the last few months at Skosh and the Rattle Owl. Both were amazing. The Rattle Owl is easier to book but has a set tasting menu so you need to be fairly relaxed about what you eat, and a set price, which is fairly high for the full tasting menu. Skosh has a menu and the cost of it is up to you (mostly small plates).

Pairings wine bar does interesting wine and really good grazing platters of nice meat and cheese.

Oh, and Mannions for sandwiches/cake.

Starr in the Citie is excellent, I would really recommend

Enjoyed cafe number 8 a lot. We all gave the food too marks.
