Redactle - THE HINTS THREAD

BIWI · 29/06/2022 09:32

Given how difficult it is to offer hints for redactle, without giving it away/being too obvious, this is a specific thread for hints.

Doesn't mean that they should give the game away, but it just stops other players seeing the hint every time they access the main thread.

So from now on, just keep your stats and general comments on the main thread and come here for any hints!

sorry @WhiteArsenic that was pedantle Blush

Oh no, thank you for trying anyway! Redactle, please!

InMySpareTime · 14/12/2022 08:34

@Willmafrockfit it's not about how wibbly it is, it's the size that counts.

Bichette · 14/12/2022 08:38

I'm stuck as well and would like a hint (redactle)
Thank you 😊

BIWI · 14/12/2022 08:45

It's a 3-syllable word, 9 letters long.

First syllable is something that produces sound through a speaker.

... I hope that's not too much of a giveaway, but I suspect not as this redactle is a pretty difficult one!

I'm still stuck on this one too. Got loads of the right words, but clearly not the important ones...

GoldenCupidon · 14/12/2022 12:23

Bof, just managed to google and get it right.

I solved today's Redactle (#251) in 161 guesses with an accuracy of 36.02%.

Get a load of that accuracy - think this is a very hard one to get right as the word itself is used so much through the article!

WhiteArsenic · 14/12/2022 13:20

Thank you - took me 163 guesses despite have an A level in the most relevant subject!!

beccahamlet · 15/12/2022 07:48

Please can you tell me the answer to 251. It's the first time I've been unable to get it. Something to do with waves.

Willmafrockfit · 15/12/2022 07:54

@beccahamlet
amplitude

beccahamlet · 15/12/2022 12:22

Alorea · 18/12/2022 09:50

I can’t find todays first word, even with google. I’ve got the second and third. Cripes this is a hard one ! I’ve tried all of Google’s suggestions. Any clues? X

storminabuttercup · 18/12/2022 09:52

You've probably already got very similar words, think of what the whole article relates to... I had the same problem

storminabuttercup · 18/12/2022 09:54

That was a shit clue... so the study of all the things you've found.

Have you put in the singular of the third word yet? Looking at occurrences of that may point you in the right direction.

InMySpareTime · 18/12/2022 10:41

@Alorea X marks the spot (well, it'll get you part of the way there).

BIWI · 18/12/2022 11:40

If something is really expensive you may describe it as [first word]

ErrolTheDragon · 18/12/2022 14:02

She's got the second and third words.

Willmafrockfit · 18/12/2022 14:02

dapsnotplimsolls · 18/12/2022 14:04

Massive and space-y.

InMySpareTime · 18/12/2022 14:08

If you played the current Pedantle too, Redactle first word is the subject of studying the Pedantle word.

Alorea · 18/12/2022 14:35

Thank you all so much. I’ve got it now. Haven’t tried pedantle…

dapsnotplimsolls · 18/12/2022 14:36
