So sad for her family. What a life lived though and what a legacy she leaves.

She is such an inspiration. I'm so sad this evening. Always have rebellious hope!

Comefromaway · 28/06/2022 22:20

Thinking of Dame Deborah’s family.

TheThreadisMildlyAmusing · 28/06/2022 22:21

Very sad news. Amazing woman right to the end.

What a truly beautiful soul.. RIP x

I wish we could find a cure for this wicked disease it rips apart so many families.

Abra1d1 · 28/06/2022 22:23

I think she was only at Royal Ascot ten days ago? She did look frail but I kind of hoped against hope she would have more of the summer. When she said that her father was doing her hair for her now, I realised she must be very weak.

Livelovebehappy · 28/06/2022 22:23

So sad. I think because most people have been touched by cancer, either themselves, or family and friends, we know what her family must be going through. Watching someone fade away with this disease is heartbreaking.

Lentil63 · 28/06/2022 22:24

What an amazing woman who we all should learn from.
My sincere sympathy to her loved ones. 🙏🏻

Blossomtoes · 28/06/2022 22:34

Fabulous woman and what a legacy. Her family must be devastated tonight.

lollipoprainbow · 28/06/2022 22:34

@Livelovebehappy I watched my sister fade away from this awful disease, she was a force of nature too, in the end it was a blessed relief that she was out of pain.

longtompot · 28/06/2022 22:43

Such sad news. She was an inspirational woman who has probably helped save so many lives by making so many people aware of this awful illness. Like someone said above, very bittersweet as she is now out of pain but for her family it's just starting.
💐to all who have lost loved ones to this, especially @CloseYourMouthLynn

lollipoprainbow that’s the thing - in the end you just want them to go quickly, because the mental pain they are going through must be as bad as the physical pain. I saw my father hang on for months when he knew it was terminal, and I watched him cry every day. Awful disease.

I saw that pic of her dad brushing her hair and that broke me. I was in floods. Such a poignant moment but felt so wrong in a way.

I hope she can Rest In Peace now, she truly was a remarkable woman.

LetsPlayShadowlands · 28/06/2022 22:44

I hope she received a beautiful welcome from her Rach and they're having a good old natter and catch up over a glass of wine. Perhaps laughing at Lozza's Glastonbury antics together 😊. RIP sweet lady.

I'm lying in bed shedding a tear for Deborah and her family, but at the same time I'm hearing my kids giggling when they should be asleep and I feel so blessed that although this disease has ripped our family apart in alot of ways, I'm also stage 4, we can all still laugh and gain strength and inspiration from the shining light that was Deborah, such a beautiful soul.

Remarkable woman. although at times I feel terminally Ill people would feel pressured to have to live there last days “bucket listing” & being grateful for all the love. I personally would be F*in raging !!!

MissPeregrinesHome · 28/06/2022 22:58

She was raging, she was always very open about that. I don't think she ever came to terms with her situation, maybe she did at the very end, but that is between her and her family.

But she was one of a kind and she certainly squeezed every last drop out of life.

Aussiegirl123456 · 28/06/2022 23:20

So incredibly inspiring, what a woman. Sleep tight Deborah and so much love and well wishes to her family and friends.

50isthenew20 · 28/06/2022 23:33

Thinking of her two beautiful children, and sending them strength to deal with their lives now their Mum has gone. Also, her parents and husband and all those she has left behind.

Thinking of all those suffering battles against cancer. Hoping Dame Deborah's legacy saves many lives now, and in years to come.

Thank you, Dame Deborah for all you have done. RIP. 🕯
