So sad for her family. What a life lived though and what a legacy she leaves.

Inspirational, brave woman . Courageous .

TheVanguardSix · 28/06/2022 21:38

What a woman. What a loss. She had a bravery I don't think I could muster. It takes guts, heart, and soul to be that brave and that scared too.
CloseYourMouthLynn I've followed your brother's story and I am terribly sad to hear your news. I know your pain. I lost my brother to intra-pancreatic bile duct cancer (what a fancy name for a truly and deeply shit diagnosis). You have my heart and all of my love. Your road ahead is such a tough and sad one. May it rise to meet you. Be well. May the world around you become a temple for your sorrow and your healing.

I lost my Mum from this same cancer five weeks ago, after receiving her diagnosis in February. She found Deborah so inspirational and even felt lucky that her own short straw, as she was 77, was longer than others like Deborah.

The foundations she has laid are wide and we thank her for living her life so others will hopefully be able to live theirs longer.

RIP Deborah and Mum xx

She's just amazing. Never felt so inspired to just enjoy life and get on with things

MinorWomensWhiplash1 · 28/06/2022 21:42

A truly remarkable woman. Rest in peace Dame Debs 💔

My darling 41 big brother died of exactly this last Thursday, his battle was very similar. While his death won't make make front page news, I hope both he and Deborah herald a greater awareness of bowel cancer symptoms.

Sorry for your loss Flowers If it helps people are listening - I rang my doctor about some dodgy tummy symptoms yesterday that I probably would have ignored otherwise and took the Qfit test just this morning.

Kezzie200 · 28/06/2022 21:54

@CloseYourMouthLynn @TheVanguardSix

Love to you both xx

CloseYourMouthLynn · 28/06/2022 21:57

@Kezzie200 and you, ever so sorry about your mum. X

UnnecessarilyCheesedOff · 28/06/2022 21:58

Her family will miss her forever. Her poor children. What an incredible inspiration she was and did such an amazing job at helping to prevent the same tragic death sentence being given to others by promoting the early identification of bowel issues in poo.

Must have been very very hard for her to say goodbye to her loved ones.

I know I'm not alone but watching her through recent years has affected me profoundly.

tocas · 28/06/2022 21:58

Cheers Deb 🥂

hammsalllad · 28/06/2022 22:00

I had a feeling this announcement was coming, her social media has gone very quiet after a busy few weeks with everything she's done.

So painfully sad, her poor babies and husband 🙁

TattiePants · 28/06/2022 22:02

So incredibly sad and I hope her family can take some comfort in both the money she has raised for charity and how she’s raised awareness of this horrible disease.

Sending love to the posters who have recently lost a loved one. My friend was diagnosed at a similar time to Deborah and found out earlier this year that her treatment was no longer working. She desperately wanted to see her DC finish their GCSEs which she has achieved.

WGACA · 28/06/2022 22:03

Remarkable lady, so sad 😥

FrustareNT · 28/06/2022 22:03

@CloseYourMouthLynn …am so sorry about your brother. I hope you and your family are all ok .I cannot imagine the sadness that my children would feel if they lost a sibling so young. 💐

ladydoris · 28/06/2022 22:03

RIO.My thoughts for her family.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 28/06/2022 22:06

halfgirlhalfturnip · 28/06/2022 22:12

A selfless woman leaving a powerful legacy ❤️‍🩹 💩

Mariposista · 28/06/2022 22:12

Very very sad news. Far too young to die from this horrible disease. Thoughts and prayers with her husband, children, parents, brother and many friends.

pushingpoppies · 28/06/2022 22:17

True lesson in how to LIVE (and ultimately, die) WELL. Absolute legend and will go on to save many countless lives through research funding and raising awareness
