£40 month here on a 12 month contract!

Seems expensive?!

£25 per month in Yorkshire. No 12 month contract. There's a pool included but the restrictions on when you can swim make it basically impossible to fit around work so that might explain part of the cheapness!

£40 definitely sounds steep!

emmathedilemma · 27/06/2022 16:51

There's a billion different pricing structures but the most expensive is £58.80 for full use of gym, pools and classes at all venues across the city (12 gyms / 9 pools). Gym only, class only or swim only are all just under £40 a month.

NewHouseNoMoney · 27/06/2022 19:23

£25/mo with no contract is more what I was expecting!

VirginActive £90. David Llyod £130.

LittleOwl2 · 27/06/2022 20:47

£25… also Yorkshire. Includes; gym, PT in the gym, fancy machine to tell me my fat etc %, 3 swimming pools near me, and a climbing wall.

Im on a rolling contract… discount via work.

Its super good value! Just wish it opened 24/7!

QuentininQuarantino · 27/06/2022 20:50

80 euro a year, with a pool, but the machine room is quite small and you pay extra for classes.

justsayso · 27/06/2022 20:51

Near me it was almost £35 I think, and it's dated, dirty, and with really poor equipment crammed into a small, sweaty space. It pees me off so much because I was spoiled in my old pure gym which was huge and had great classes. I've resigned myself to being wobbly in protest at paying their extortionate prices for a covid box. 😡

MintyGreenDream · 27/06/2022 20:52

£30 for several locations.Gym,classes and swimming.

notacooldad · 27/06/2022 20:52

The most expensive package is £29:00. I don't pay this much.
For this we get the use of 4 gyms, two swimming pools with steam rooms and saunas, a running track, and loads of classes ( Les Mills) plus the use of gyms in 8 different out of Borough gyms that are not part of our authority.
Good value to be fair

Cas112 · 27/06/2022 20:56

29quid a month

LBOCS2 · 27/06/2022 20:58

£56 for gym and swim. £48 for gym only, £36 for pool only.

rookiemere · 27/06/2022 21:00

I think ours is around £56 for all classes and gym.
I'll join a cheap chain gym instead (£19.99 per month) when my David Lloyd membership runs out( £90 per month ).

Essexgirlupnorth · 27/06/2022 21:00

35 a month for gym, swim, classes, online access to les Mills classes and sauna/steam room council run leisure centres. For 7 leisure centres one of which has a 24hr gym and one is brand new opened last year. Just gym or just swim at one centre is less. Is a 12 month contract. Nearest private gym with a pool is like £45 a month.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 27/06/2022 21:02

£35 a month or £25 just for swimming and aqua aerobics

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 27/06/2022 21:03

£28.50
They offer 6 weeks over the summer for a bargain price too.

TheCanyon · 27/06/2022 21:03

Just had a look, I'm pretty shocked, it was just 20 odd quid a couple of years ago for a full membership. The gym is tiny and shit, the pool is currently closed due to a fire so a 1 1/2 hour return journey to use to next nearest pool.

Swim only 36.75
Gym only 36.75
Classes only 36.75
Full membership 41.25.

there's a few private gyms now that are roughly 30.

Starseeking · 27/06/2022 21:16

£38.42 for full access to 6 local leisure centres. All have pools and gyms plus indoor facilities for protest like basketball, squash and badminton courts. Each also has a little cafe/snack bar where you can buy basics such as hot drinks, paninis and pastries etc.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 27/06/2022 21:19

£27 per month.
Also Yorkshire
covers four locations including pool, gym, classes, sauna, use of a five a side pitch, tennis, badminton and table tennis and an athletics track

Sauvignonblanket · 27/06/2022 21:25

Same as OP - in Hertfordshire.

dementedpixie · 27/06/2022 21:29

£34.99/month
Can use any of the council sports centres in the local authority. Includes classes, gym, swimming

notacooldad · 27/06/2022 22:08

Depends what you get for you money?

Heronatemygoldfish · 27/06/2022 22:22

£25 a month here, gym, swim and tennis courts. Home counties. No classes though.

RaspberryParfait · 27/06/2022 22:43

£50 a month here for massive gym over 3 floors, all classes and either swim (olympic sized pool) OR spa with steam room, steam sauna, normal sauna, jacuzzi, chill out beds etc.

£60 for gym, classes, swim AND spa but luckily my card has a glitch so I get them all for £50!

Also members get posh changing rooms and showers which are always clean and never busy as opposed to the public changing rooms next to the swimming pool which are minging.

I think it’s fantastic value if you consider what else you spend money on and the benefits of it. I’m there 4 times a week so work out at just over £3 a visit.

liveforsummer · 28/06/2022 05:00

Between £35 and £58 depending on the package you select. £35 is swim or gym only, a middle price with both and too price to include classes. City so lots of venues.

Flavabobble · 28/06/2022 05:22

£30/month or £300 upfront for the year. Use of 3 gyms/pools in the immediate area, and before COVID, had a facility to register to use several other council's gyms in the wider area. I think it's excellent value for money.
