How much have you spent in supermarket this week?

We've spent £104.26 in 7 days. 2 adults, 1 toddler and 2 ungrateful swines cats. It's definitely too much money. We need to reign it in.

This includes food, toiletries and cat litter (which is bloody expensive.)
We did also have fish and chips yesterday which cost £13.70.

How much has everyone else spent this week? I'm just asking because I'm a nosy bugger.

(This thread isn't a brag or a gloat. I know many many families live on a lot less than me.)

Probably about £100 max for 3 adults, to include all meals, we don't eat out. We are veggie. DS is the only one that drinks milk, so he pops to the local maybe once a week, he works full time so that's maybe £3 as he's not in the house much to drink it.

We've had a major life change recently, I now realise how frivolous we were previously re money and food, when I have the skills, incentive and the opportunity to change that further. Lidl coffee is fine!

YouLookinSusBro · 26/06/2022 18:45

We average about £130 a week but I have toilet roll/kitchen roll etc from Amazon subscribe and save so only comes every 2 months so the weeks vary. We do nearly all our shopping in lidl with very few things needed from bigger supermarkets. Have about 1 takeaway a month. This week spent £80 in lidl (including 1 bottle of wine) and £10 in the corner shop + £23 takeaway. 3 adults and a 4yo, no pets.

Abridget7 · 26/06/2022 18:48

£178 Ocado. Doesn't include any booze or dishwasher tablets/washing powder. Just food.
2 adults & 2 toddlers
Probably last 7-10 days before I do another big shop.

Only 2 adults here and we bulk buy the dog and cat food twice year using subscribe and save options to get the best price

wood pellet cat litter is fab btw you’d probably save swapping to that?

we use gusto for 4 x dinners paying a max of £34.99 (often get offers which make it lots cheaper)

breakfast is smoothies with oats, frozen fruit and bananas approx £4pw

lunch rolls, crisps, apple and Kit Kat or something similar £10pw

sometimes pick up some treats so maybe another £5

two other dinners £10

so call it £30pw at the shops - but I stick to a list and tbh we waste so much less food now compared to before as I’d plan but then things would change or we’d forget to sue something.

we are super boring so no snacks occasional bottle of wine or cider but not weekly and I go to b&m monthly to get cleaning stuff/ toiletries approx £20 every few months

OhWhataDilemna · 26/06/2022 19:00

We’ve spent about £250 in Sainsburys and the milkman for two adults and an older teen, and we’ll need to go out and do a top up shop tomorrow. We’ve also got to order hedgehog and bird food because they need feeding too.

wibblewobbleball · 26/06/2022 19:13

£180 but that's for a months worth of meat, frozen food, cupboard stock, bread goods, drinks, cleaning stuff, toilet roll, plus fresh stuff for this week. I'll then top up fresh stuff as the month goes on, up to my budget of £400.

carefullycourageous · 26/06/2022 19:16

Just checked back, £102 this week so far (our shopping week starts with a delivery on Thursday) but not expecting to need anything else and we got a couple of bits like icecream for a party next week. We don't shop in one shop, we go to the organic veg shop for fresh stuff, then a range of local supermarkets depending on what we need.

wibblewobbleball · 26/06/2022 19:17

Oh and should have said that's for 2 adults, one toddler and both adults WFH so it covers all meals/snacks etc. Plus nappies and wipes.

MyBrilliantFriend · 26/06/2022 19:37

Absolutely loads.

£170 on Ocado which will do us for the week. Spent £30 in Sainsburys yesterday as well on lunch bits.

i think we spend around £200-250 a week but try not to add it up because I prefer being in denial!

Bubblesandsqueak1 · 26/06/2022 19:48

This week total is 74 morrisons, and 23 takeaway treat so £97 food will late us 10 days though that is for 2 adults one child who eats like a adult

Wheretheskyisblue · 26/06/2022 19:57

I have attached mine, £82 in ocado for 2 adults and 2 children. I generally top up in lidl every other week for about £40 so on average works out at around £100 a week.

I got my monthly Ocado delivery for £311 last Tuesday, but "only" £182 was on food (the rest was toiletries, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, toilet roll etc for a month). That will last until Wednesday I think.

I do stock up on tins and pasta and freezer food in that delivery. So other weekly shops will be a lot less.

Family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 kids aged 6, 10 and 12.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 26/06/2022 20:14

Recently I've been averaging about £150 pw for 4 children and 1 adult. This time last year I used to manage about £90. It's shocking.

Blu3Butt0n · 26/06/2022 20:18

£190 for 2 adults and 3 x18/17 year olds.😩

£30 Sainsburys
£130 Aldi
£30 Lidl

I'm too ashamed to attach any of my receipts Grin

170 for one adult and four children and a dog but I got carried away in Aldi’s middle aisle. Normally more like 100.

PollyEsther · 26/06/2022 20:31

Including every top up/quick trip to a convenience store... £152.80

2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 primary aged children. Doesn't include the monthly trip to Home Bargains that I did last week for toiletries, cleaning products etc.

We are absolutely skint this month so it has to be very different for the next 3 weeks. We have about £80 per week for food. Should be fine, but very tight!

Passthecake30 · 26/06/2022 20:32

I’ve just had a look at online banking and it’s been an expensive one!
£88 tescos delivery Wednesday, £8 tescos Wednesday, £60 Asda Friday (included £20 clothes/frying pan), £30 Tescos today. Omg. I find this time of year more expensive due to eating more salads and fruit. We can afford it, and don’t eat out much but I’d like it to hover around the £120ish mark. I will try and reign it in a bit this week!

Crikeyalmighty · 26/06/2022 20:33

£69 in waitrose today for 2 of us including a £5 dishwasher cleaner and a £2.99 magazine--
and £27 yesterday in M&S

SickKid · 26/06/2022 20:33

£94 Aldi
£38 Asda (for the branded shit my kids insist on 🙄)
2 adults, 2 extremely picky kids, 2 fussy cats

Nsky62 · 26/06/2022 20:40

Cheap week, about £22 cat and i, no coffee pods, cat food or meat, used up, and cooked chicken bought last week, made 7 dinners, 3 for friends.max £40 week, getting harder, not keen on instant coffee either

Nsky62 · 26/06/2022 20:43

Forgot to add monthly average £140, cleaning separate mostly health food shop, buy most 5 litres, prob £10 to 15 every 6 weeks

Definitely spending more on fruit right now. Ds and I love berries and they're only nice for about 4 or 5 months a year so i justify paying a fortune I suppose.

Far too bloody much, couldn't put a figure on it but seem to be constantly spending money. I am heavily pregnant and just wanting to eat what I want to eat, luckily we can afford it at the moment. Were going to £100 a week though from tomorrow as my maternity allowance will kick in :-( see how that goes I guess.

goldengirlsoncraic · 26/06/2022 20:54

I spent over €100 last week.
That was only for bits and bobs.
Used up my freezer stash.
There's 2 adults 1 teen and 2:preteens.
It's going to go up cause my kids are finished school this week.

So I'm going to have to do a huge shop next week.
Bout €400 all in all.
