How much have you spent in supermarket this week?

We've spent £104.26 in 7 days. 2 adults, 1 toddler and 2 ungrateful swines cats. It's definitely too much money. We need to reign it in.

This includes food, toiletries and cat litter (which is bloody expensive.)
We did also have fish and chips yesterday which cost £13.70.

How much has everyone else spent this week? I'm just asking because I'm a nosy bugger.

(This thread isn't a brag or a gloat. I know many many families live on a lot less than me.)

£220 in total over supermarkets, milk man, & coffees/meals out

RudsyFarmer · 26/06/2022 17:48

Honestly no idea. I went to Tesco today and bought a lot of yellow ticketed items that I was rather pleased with. I also have started buying non branded items and putting Tesco tomato ketchup into the empty Heinz bottle. Saved over £2 doing that.

ifonly4 · 26/06/2022 17:51

We had a really good week - around £34. There's two of us and two cats. I usually set a maximum of £65pw.

Our weekly budget is much lower than most, and I'll admit to always having lots of low cost store cupboard items in and usually about three weeks of cat food I can fall back on.

About €150. I'm in Ireland though so we have higher food costs than the UK. That's for 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 cats and 2 dogs. We shop in Aldi.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 26/06/2022 17:54

£111 in Lidl, £12 of that was Oatley. For 2 adults and young child and a toddler. I did buy a bunch of flowers this week. DH and I went out for lunch one day this week. Cat food is bought separately.

Greyingmumto3 · 26/06/2022 17:56

£110 this week in Asda for a family of 5 (2are older teens ) didn’t need dog food this week but have got an extra joint of pork for the freezer . Will give another £15 towards lunches for 2 children ( usually take lunches but will buy a drink sometimes or occasional school dinner )
it’s usually around this price give or take ten pounds . Tend to shop Asda , Tesco or Lidl

CharSiu · 26/06/2022 17:59

£95 that’s for 3 adults and my DS GF is here for at least one meal a week. DH and I met friends for lunch out today, that was £35. We also spent £10 at a fundraising coffee morning yesterday. We buy the cats food and litter in bulk online.

I am allergic to perfumed products and lots of household products so clean with bicarbonate of soda and citric acid. We also rarely drink alcohol and don’t snack much.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 26/06/2022 18:00

Spent £47 in lidl for one adult. This did include a box of beer and a 4 pack Toilet roll but the rest was food. All meals eaten at home.

£47 shop lasted the week last week but then I spent a further £13 on dog items, had tea at my parents one night and my mate paid for a takeaway another so we'll see.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/06/2022 18:02

About £190 but that did include a couple of bottles of wine, cat food, big pack of dishwasher tabs (on offer), beers and 3 x Azeera 140gm pots at £5.50 each. 3 adults - all at work every day. Will probably last until next Saturday - 9 days.

The only reason I have not noticed a big hike is because DS no longer lives here!

We are fortunate that we aren't on a budget.

Pretzerella · 26/06/2022 18:04

£313.96 this week from various places. Plus school dinners £20.00 and DH has spent about £80 on alcohol but that's for a couple of parties we've got coming up.

Four adults, two DC.

Titsywoo · 26/06/2022 18:09

About £160-70 but quite a bit of that was frozen stuff that will last months. Also spent £160 in Costco on loo roll, kitchen roll, dishwasher and washing tabs, huge tub of vanish whitening, sugar, binbags, coke, olive oil, pasta sauce - this will last us about 4 months or so.

Thepowerofthelook · 26/06/2022 18:10

£40.26 at tesco plus £5.60 for fish slice and chips for two of us.
1 adult, 3 teens (who eat more than me!)
1 is gluten free, two have afrid so limited on what I can give, can't always go for what's on offer.
Lots of frozen and tinned produce.
Not for everyone but freeze milk and bread to ensure it lasts.
I meal plan every meal.
I shop on line so no impulse buying.
One evening a week its beans /egg on toast.
Most meals are batch cooked (lots of spag bol, curry, chilli, shepherds pie, stew).
Meals also have to be easy to make as I am disabled. Its not how I'd choose to eat but needs must living on disability benefits.

We did just buy quite a few cupboard items eg beans/pasta/spices/noodles/coconut milk that don't need replaced weekly so I'm hoping we can spend less next week.
We will need cat food next week though and it seems like that goes up every time we go to the shop.

We're recovering from covid so it's not a typical week, we're leaning pretty heavily on convenience. There was also a large father's day meal for multiple people included in this, and treats for a school function.

We spent £50 with Hello Fresh, then subsequent trips to the grocery store of £115, £100, £25, £20, and £35. I think DH also probably spent £50. It includes a lot of convenience foods, staples like bread and milk, cat food, several cleaning products that will last months that all just happened to run out at the same time.

Not a typical week for us by any stretch, and a place I normally manage a lot better.

Roominmyhouse · 26/06/2022 18:18

£123 for two people but that included 6 bottles of Prosecco which was 25% off in sainsburys. I really like their taste the difference one and it worked out as £45 instead of £60 so a decent saving. So £80 for 2 people but that’s a weeks worth of breakfasts, lunches and dinners so it’s not too bad.

WoahWhatAFeeling · 26/06/2022 18:19

£65 for two adults, we are really lucky to still be able to buy fresh meat and fruit & veg. Shop at Lidl for most bits and then usually have to do a top up at Sainsbury's for branded/specific bits.

MrsPnut · 26/06/2022 18:19

I’ve spent £111 in Tesco on Friday, £12 at the butchers and £37 on a Chinese.
£30 in M&S food on Saturday and £12 in Tesco today (mostly frozen veg today).

I worked out we spent about £1k last month on food and take always/eating out and there are 4 of us.

Louise0701 · 26/06/2022 18:24

£162 in Tesco. 2 adults 3 children. This includes packed lunches for 2. DD & DS1 have school dinners but no toiletries or alcohol. It will just about last the week too.

Sunnysal · 26/06/2022 18:29

There are some large amounts being spent. I spend about 70 euros a week. Mainly at Lidl with a trip to other places maybe twice a month. There are just 2 of us. I plan a lot, bulk cook and freeze. To be honest I'm lucky that I don't have to be too careful. We drink quite a bit but as its so cheap it doesn't make much of a difference. Its meat that seems to cost.

usernotfound0000 · 26/06/2022 18:31

£60 in Aldi. £8 in Morrisons. £45 in Costco, we go 6 weekly ish there for toilet roll and a few other bits. 2 adults, 7&3 year old and 2 cats. That will last a full week apart from the costco stuff which will last longer.

LabradorsInThePond · 26/06/2022 18:33

£236 on a Waitrose delivery. £6.50 in the Co-Op on a paper and a few groceries. A couple of trips to the bakery for croissants/ sourdough. £18 on bavette steak from the farm shop. Normally spent a little more at the farm shop, but I already had some meat for the week in the freezer. I cook from scratch every day, and plan meals a week ahead. That sum includes dog food, toiletries, cleaning stuff etc. 2 adults, 2 DC, a cat and a dog.

We don't really eat out much when we are home in England as I find the quality of restaurant food in the UK pretty dire, unless it's a special occasion (we eat out lots if we are in London for the day, at home in France, or on holiday). I pack lunches for the children and DH mostly works from home, so that sum includes pretty much everything.

usernotfound0000 · 26/06/2022 18:35

Oh I forgot about £9 for the milkman too!

bloodywhitecat · 26/06/2022 18:37

£52 me and two toddlers (1yr and 2yr old).

troppibambini6 · 26/06/2022 18:37

£260 on a food shop (3 adults 3 kids)
£80 on 2 bottles of wine to take to a party last night

MindYourHeadDoggy · 26/06/2022 18:39

€115 which is about £99. Two adults.
