Boris building £150,000 tree house for son

I’ve just read that The Prime Minister is planning to build a tree house at Checkers for his son that will cost in excess of £150,000. I’m disgusted. I know there are rich people all over The country who may well have built similar projects for their children and to be honest that’s there business, if they’ve earned the money. But this is the man in charge of the government who are making policies that are causing debt and distress to many of their citizens. Many who are struggling to feed their families and clothe their kids never mind building tree houses for them. I think he should have a little more empathy!

Well, as long as he’s paying for it and not putting it through on expenses…

User0610134049 · 25/06/2022 13:05

How on earth can a tree house cost that much!
<sorry missing the point>

Hope it’s a moveable one can’t see him living there much longer

IncompleteSenten · 25/06/2022 13:09

He was trying to get a Tory donor to pay for it.

In return for who knows what. A government contract perhaps, or whatever the fuck big donors normally get in return for their no strings attached goodness of their hearts generous gifts.

IncompleteSenten · 25/06/2022 13:10

Yes it was scrapped for 'security reasons'.

They said cos it might have been seen from the road.
I suspect more that people would have hit the roof.

BlanketsBanned · 25/06/2022 13:12

It didnt get built, it was too much of a security risk as it could be seen from the road and also needed bullet proof glass.

Snuffy28 · 25/06/2022 13:12

It's his money, it's up to him what he does with it. Do you want him to give away all his cash and live on £1500 a month? Would you, if you were rich?

emuloc · 25/06/2022 13:25

Just another example of the glaring inequalities in this Country. That buffoon who has climbed to the top of the cabinet, not through hard work or qualifications, says it all really.

It’s not though
He was allegedly trying to get a Tory Dona to pay for it - in return for who knows what?

Zilla1 · 25/06/2022 13:29

How very Churchillian? Churchill practiced bricklaying at Blenheim? Boris a little carpentry while saving the UK and the free world? Let's hope Carrie isn't holding the ladder if any untrue stories get published and withdrawn, especially untrue stories about further shenanigans.

IcedOatLatte · 25/06/2022 13:32

Was he trying to economise on the cost of the tradesmen?

To be fair, once the rich Tory donor has slipped him the big brown envelope it is his money. 😁

Same donor was pitching a £115m project which was being discussed in the same WhatsApp exchanges as the money for the overpriced wallpaper.

angstridden2 · 25/06/2022 13:44

I don’t understand why anyone would build a treehouse of any description for a two year old unless they actually want to spend their time in A &E when the child inevitably falls out of it or off the ladder. I find it hard to believe that even Boris thinks Chequers will be his until his tiny children can use the treehouse . Is he so arrogant that he really thinks he will still be P.M. for many years after the recent by election debacle?

balalake · 25/06/2022 18:23

I doubt Mr Johnson would have considered any sort of six figure spend on something for any daughter of his.

Is that you Nadine?

He's never spent a penny he couldn't cadge off someone else. The overpriced (and some) tree house was to have been paid by a donor who no doubt would have go some quid pro pro.

It was stupid idea by a man who specialises in stupid ideas.

EvilPea · 25/06/2022 18:31

Why would you build that in a house that isn’t yours?

IpanemaBelle · 25/06/2022 18:42

A Tory donor Lord Brownlow was stumping up the cash. He was the infamous wallpaper donator for no. 10.

Essentially Lord Brownlow buying access to the government.

How would not building it show more empathy though? Him giving it up isn’t going to make your life any better.

You need to stop looking at the lives of people wealthier than you, it is only going to upset you.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 25/06/2022 19:13

It was being paid for by a tory donor, as if Bojo would dip his hand in his pocket. Every time he has an affair he takes money out pf the tax payer to fund it. Scrounger

Is that you Boris? Only some one that silly would post shite like this

Pedallleur · 25/06/2022 19:18

It's not his property. It's a govt residence for use by the PM. How about if he says let's knock down the West Wing and build a theme park. I'll get a rich donor to pay for it. A tree house for a 2 yr so a man child can use it.

PeekAtYou · 25/06/2022 19:51

I read that there's a swing/climbing frame in Downing Street that the Blair and Cameron children played on.

Apparently Kourtney Kardashian's kids have a $100k playhouse in the garden. (I'm not judging her on the money spent- she earned it) so I wonder what a £150k house would buy you? As it's Boris I'm assuming that it includes £100k wine cellar or something ? Wink

hopeishere · 25/06/2022 20:02

Do him and Carrie not realise chequers and Downing Street are temporary homes. Therefore spending large sums of money on them (even if it's not their money) is madness. Not as mad as the people giving them the money.
