Which wedding dress..?! HELP!

Hello,

So. I'm torn between these two dresses.
One is my dream dress - sorely, A line dress with gorgeous appliqué but it's quite busty.. which I'm struggling to get over. I'm not one to flaunt my chest area whatsoever so find it quite revealing.

The other is a classic satin gown, button back details and very covered up. Sadly don't have a photo of this.

For context, I'm marrying in a church.

Please help? Is the A line sparkly too revealing? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you in advance

I agree.
The cups look too big and this makes the boob area look even bigger.

Yes, the cup size is too big also. Which is adding to the exposure as it’s too wide across the chest.

All this can be altered @flourned

If you have the name of the dress/brand. Look at how it’s presented on the model and see where the V ends, how it fits round the bust.

ArtVandalay · 20/06/2022 20:09

I agree - it's far too booby.

I don't like to see the boobs sitting low like this and the under part - iyswim. Much nicer to see a flattering décolletage.

It also looks like you'd be very uncomfortable in it.

jackstini · 20/06/2022 20:09

Definitely first dress as you love it so much

Agree get a dressmaker to just pop some lace or a sheer modesty panel where the V is low and it will be perfect

No one wants to see the bride's under boob!Second dress is much nicer.

Remember on the day you will be getting close to chat to older relatives, your new fil, the vicar, your mate's letchy boyfriend... personally I would feel very uncomfortable in a dress like that.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 20/06/2022 20:11

A good seamstress should be able to make it fit better and also add some matching fabric to make it a bit more modest. Even if people think it looks great, chances are that given it's on your mind already, it will be what you notice in all of your photos of you don't do something about it.

The other option is a short fitted jacket. I had one similar to this in shape but a different pattern to hide my fat arms, but it also gave a bit of cleavage modesty too.

DogsAndGin · 20/06/2022 20:12

How about just a little lace insert over the cleavage?

100% agree. A couple of fittings with a good seamstress and the whole effect will be much better, far less booby, don't worry.

The shape of the second dress suits you much better. Can you not find a compromise between the two?

Here's the models photos:

Actually the straps look a little too long for her too but the cup size fits.

Its a beautiful dress and not too booby for church.

Yiayoula · 20/06/2022 20:20

flourned : You’ve dropped four dress sizes, that’s amazing .
Just get those alterations done and sparkle all the way down the aisle.
You’re going to look beautiful ! 💐

Don't regret it. Your dream dress is beautiful and in the photos with the veil it's stunning.

Thank you all. Found one more photo straight on, here you go :)

Last photo spam I promise!

Dress one looks incredible on you, OP.x

redastherose · 20/06/2022 20:24

A good bridal seamstress will be able to add a little bit of lace in the deep v if you want once you've had the straps and bust shortened and fitted.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 20/06/2022 20:27

The cups are a tighter fit on the model and it works better. Your dress is too big, that's all.

To those saying boobs don't belong on the church, I doubt God would have invented then if he didn't like them!

It's not like you will be spilling out of them or there's a risk of a stray nipple, once the straps & cups are tightened it will be a huge improvement. Modesty panel can still be added if you are still uncomfortable.

TamSamLam · 20/06/2022 20:31

You do need to be reasonable about how much a seamstress can/will do.
Taking up the shoulders or putting in a modesty panel, easy. Then having to redesign the armpits because they now dig in, not so much. (2 inches is a lot to take from the shoulder.
If the cups are too big it might be easier to drop a size and get a corset panel put in the back, it depends where you need the 16.
And finding a good seamstress takes luck and money. Although I do tend to want these things done just right. Anything can theoretically be done, but I wouldn't risk it on a tight schedule.

If it were me I'd shop around for something similar to the first one, but that you're more comfortable in.

flourned · 20/06/2022 20:32

Thank you - the shoulders are made extra large for all body types so apparently not unusual to need this amount removed from them. The back is corset back so it can be bought in more 😊

I LOVE the second dress. A lot of wedding dresses nowadays all look the same but that one isn't "plain" it's classic! Looks very simple and elegant. And are those dress pockets too? 😍

CaptSkippy · 20/06/2022 20:35

Weddings are an incredibly sexist tradition anyways and churches even moreso. I don't see why a wedding dress can't be likewise.

Wear what you want, OP. It's the concept of "respectful" when it comes to these things is every arbitrary.

Sunnierdays · 20/06/2022 20:37

Too much cleavage on show, it would distract from everything else .

summermornings · 20/06/2022 20:38

I mean in that last photo you can see the strap falling off the shoulder. It shouldn’t do that, so it really is too long.

I agree with the PP that there’s only so much you can alter etc but I think adjusting the straps and some alteration of the cups should be doable

Herejustforthisone · 20/06/2022 20:38

I wouldn’t want my tits out like that in church or in front of my family. 😬 but I have fuck all in the way of boobage so probably not one to listen to.

Have you got an ‘a-like’ picture of the other one?
