Which wedding dress..?! HELP!

Hello,

So. I'm torn between these two dresses.
One is my dream dress - sorely, A line dress with gorgeous appliqué but it's quite busty.. which I'm struggling to get over. I'm not one to flaunt my chest area whatsoever so find it quite revealing.

The other is a classic satin gown, button back details and very covered up. Sadly don't have a photo of this.

For context, I'm marrying in a church.

Please help? Is the A line sparkly too revealing? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you in advance

A modesty panel in a similar lace would be so easy for a seamstress

flourned · 20/06/2022 19:16

Managed to find a photo of the alternative dress. VERY different as you can see...

It isn't so 'me' - I love the lace and glitter, this one doesn't have that.

The second one is a lot more flattering, and really pretty.

And a few more of the first - the one I prefer 😊

Also with a the veil I've purchased. X

I feel torn as I've worked SO hard to loose 5 stone in the last 4.5 months, I want to be able to wear something I usually wouldn't be able to wear. But at the same time don't want raised eyebrows and hushed voices throughout my ceremony. I want to be respectful..

I’m going to be completely honest - I think it makes you look quite dumpy, which you really aren’t. A higher neckline, more substantial sleeve to balance it, and a more fitted skirt would look miles better.

I think the first one is way more flattering, boobage aside. Is a modesty panel as suggested previously an option?

OompaLoompaa · 20/06/2022 19:23

Congratulations on your weight loss.

There is a difference between wearing something you wouldn't normally and wearing something that is going to make you self concious. If isn't the day for that.

Your second pictures make it look even lower cut.

MrsElm · 20/06/2022 19:24

The second dress is stunning. The first one is too, but it looks like you are about to fall out of it.

Is there not a middle option?

KnitOnePearlOneDropOne · 20/06/2022 19:25

The veil is gorgeous.

mirrorballer · 20/06/2022 19:25

I'm sorry but I do think the first one is too revealing. You look lovely in it, you really do but I don't think it's that great and you will feel self conscious.
I agree with others that if it was really your dream dress you wouldn't have started this thread.
Someone said to me that the dress you think you want often isn't the one you buy as it's different when you try them on.

If you're not comfortable, your options are to see if they can do something with the dress you have or get something else.

That second dress looks absolutely beautiful on you @flourned. It's really really lovely.
You can add some sparkle elsewhere if it's too plain for you.

KhaleesiOfChaos · 20/06/2022 19:26

Can you get them to add something to cover up the lower part of your cleavage?

It's lovely and suits you but it is very booby and you don't want to feel uncomfortable or inappropriate on your wedding day.

flourned · 20/06/2022 19:28

Thanks all. The satin Mokado dress was a wild card pulled for me by the bridal stylist. I didn't want anything so plain but loved it once on! Problem I have is that it's now sold. It's an off the peg dress 😢😢

My wedding dress was very similar to the second one (26 years ago) so I think the second one is nicer. I made a matching wrap.
Could you try on some more with s higher neckline?

WhatALoadOfWankiness · 20/06/2022 19:29

Hey congratulations on your weight loss, such an achievement!
I love the first dress on you but it is quite booby. Can they sew it up a little high or put a small modesty panel in?
You look stunning in it

KurriKawari · 20/06/2022 19:30

Second dress is much more flattering.
OP, post of the Style & Beauty thread and they will help you find a lovely dress with all the lace and sparkle you like, but without the boobage.

Ninananna · 20/06/2022 19:30

The second dress is more flattering than the first. The first dress makes you look very dumpy.

MyVoiceCounts · 20/06/2022 19:30

The second dress is stunning. So elegant.

Misty84 · 20/06/2022 19:34

Second dress is very classy and flattering

flourned · 20/06/2022 19:34

Thanks all. Gutted now as I should have got the 2nd maybe. It's just so NOT me. 😣🤣

It's sold now. None like it across the country either, apparently. 😢😢

I think it's gorgeous. My dress was a little booby but I was assured it looked amazing.

Lolly65743 · 20/06/2022 19:36

I think I prefer the v neck- strapless not so much but then I know I'm in the minority

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/06/2022 19:37

Seen your other pictures. I still prefer your dream dress.
