Which wedding dress..?! HELP!

Hello,

So. I'm torn between these two dresses.
One is my dream dress - sorely, A line dress with gorgeous appliqué but it's quite busty.. which I'm struggling to get over. I'm not one to flaunt my chest area whatsoever so find it quite revealing.

The other is a classic satin gown, button back details and very covered up. Sadly don't have a photo of this.

For context, I'm marrying in a church.

Please help? Is the A line sparkly too revealing? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you in advance

I love the booby one but I would add some material in the cleavage part to make it less booby.

flourned · 20/06/2022 19:41

Thank you so much for the congratulations! Still loosing weight - hence why I was trying to leave the dress to the last minute.

HUGELY regretting doing so, now. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Just have a panel added to the V.

That way you won't spend the day second guessing anything.

Dress is very booby but get it altered to add some extra appliqué to that area raising the V to something less exposed because you look amazing in the rest of the dress

Congrats on your wedding

Thanks all. Having a major wobble over it now and so stressed as I've got barely any time to find anything else. I love the dress, but feel really self conscious if the breast area. It is considerably lower / more revealing when sitting 🤦🏼‍♀️😣

Please don’t stress!!

I think you should pick the dress, if you love it.

I completely agree with the others that the pic is too booby. However, the dress clearly doesn’t fit you. The length of the body is too long for you, therefore, showing more boob than it should. The straps need to be taken up at least an inch or maybe two. The shop owner/seamstress should pin this for you to see.
I would also bring some boob tape, tape them up and out and I think will give a nice shape.

Please please try again once it has been pinned and you have taped the boobies!

Both together should give a low V neckline but shouldn’t be ‘booby’

Congratulations on losing all the weight!

I can see why you love all of the sparkle and the first dress but I’m sorry, it’s not appropriate for wearing in church. Can you find something with a sweetheart neckline? It would be similarly flattering but less revealing? Have you considered second hand? Vinted? EBay or a charity shop and having it adjusted? Some charity shops just sell wedding dresses so you may find a bargain!

minipie · 20/06/2022 19:48

If you love lace and glitter DON’T get the plain one, you will regret it.

The first one is too low cut but as PP have said it should be perfectly possible to alter it to make it a bit more modest. First of all once it’s fitted to you it will be less gaping and secondly you can get a little sheer modesty panel added to cover some of that deep V. Which will also enable you to wear a good supportive bra.

Badger1970 · 20/06/2022 19:49

I think you look gorgeous in both, OP, and well done on the weight loss.

My only comment would be that you don't want to keep adjusting your dress on the day - don't underestimate comfort.

Yiayoula · 20/06/2022 19:50

Good advice from summer mornings.

It’s the actual fit of the dress that’s not quite right, but a competent seamstress should be able to fix that for you.
Enjoy your dream day in your dream dress !

clippety clop · 20/06/2022 19:51

I've come back to say I've RTFT and see you've lost a lot of weight. The first dress looks much better on you. Could you get a seamstress to make a v shaped insert with flesh coloured backing just to make it more modest. Or try a minimiser bra or different bras to see how it looks.

Wear it and own it and stand tall in it - it's a lovely dress.

pictish · 20/06/2022 19:51

Many congratulations on the weight loss!

The second dress is truly lovely on you.

pushingpoppies · 20/06/2022 19:52

I think they're both gorgeous. Wear the one that is closest to YOU and YOUR dream dress and what your love to wear. You only get one day, one shot, one dress, so do it your way!

ThirtyThreeTrees · 20/06/2022 19:54

I think the first dress is the nicer of the two but it doesn't seem to fit correctly at the top which is compounding the bust problem.

I wouldn't bet an eyelid if a bride wore it but you are clearly u comfortable.

Have you spoken to a good seamstress. Between raising the straps and a modest panel, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take much to make you comfortable in it.

Congrats on the weight loss, please share your tips once you have the dress sorted!

DragonflyNights · 20/06/2022 19:54

I think the first one is more flattering and the second one is a bit meh compared to it. Go with the first one if that’s the one you prefer.

I agree.
The cups look too big and this makes the boob area look even bigger.

ThatDreamSheep · 20/06/2022 19:55

Could you not get a seamstress to put a panel in?

18e6281o62 · 20/06/2022 19:57

Wear your dream dress!! You only get married once. Don't regret not being brave and wearing it if you love it. I absolutely promise the church won't care.

Fritilleries · 20/06/2022 19:57

Inappropriate. Boobs are not for church.

B0ssAssB1tch · 20/06/2022 19:58

I think your first one is much prettier and more interesting. Any good bridal seamstress will be able to cover the V up a bit with a modesty panel very easily. It also doesn't fit you well as someone has said upthread - your own dress will be fitted to you i presume. the changes are pretty minor but will make all the difference. Get the one that makes you feel good about yourself. Maybe go try it on again with the underwear you're planning to wear on the day, your shoes and veil. Take a little scrap of fabric with you (or the shop might have one) and experiment with putting it in to the neckline to cover it a bit. See what you think then.

She’s not going topless. Why is it inappropriate? She’s the bride

3luckystars · 20/06/2022 20:01

Keep looking.

picklemewalnuts · 20/06/2022 20:04

I love the first dress- absolutely beautiful. Just get a bit of advice about the fit, maybe a fichu. It's beautiful and you love it.

Anytimeiseeit · 20/06/2022 20:06

If it’s your dream dress apart from being too booby then this can be changed by a dreasmaker.
I think as it is, it’s much too booby for a church and unlike some posters, I do think that matters. It’s important to respect the
place you’ve chosen to get married in

Joystir59 · 20/06/2022 20:06

I hate that almost naked boobs out look

flourned · 20/06/2022 20:06

Thank you all - I was a size 24 and the dress is a 16; but it's too large in the shoulders and bust. I need 2 inches off the shoulders which may pull the bust up slightly more? I have been exploring the possibility of putting some whispy lace in the V panel to tie with the dress and cover up more.. I wonder if that would make a difference? The length also needs altering :)
