Are motivational print walls a bit crap?

I absolutely love the brightly coloured motivational prints on Etsy. All the different fonts and colours make me happy.

I work from home in my craft room. The walls are just white and I’ve decided I want to buy some prints - words that have meaning to me. Mostly ones that will give me a kick up the bum when I don’t have any orders, or to help me stick to my diet. Also song lyrics that I love. All in lovely colours and fonts.

I showed a friend and she said they’re crap, so I mentioned them to someone else who laughed and said the same. My mum says I’m too old (both my daughters have walls like this in their flats, but they’re 21 and 23). My husband says he likes them, and my daughters say to go for it. One has ordered me one ‘to get me started’

I don’t know why I care what people think really.

the pictures are the sort of thing, maybe!

Your walls, do as you please.

I like the ones you've linked. I also like the ones you can make yourself called 'word clouds'. I made one for my friend's 50th, all words that her friends used to describe her. You could do one about your creativity.... You can Google quotes or words that inspire you.

I find them a bit naff and particularly dislike the faux edgy ones (Eg this, not like the ones you linked). But I’m sure you or others dislike the art on my walls too - the main thing is that you pick things that you like and don’t feel pressured not to have the things you like in your space.

I really like them!

@stuntbubbles I hadn’t noticed that!! It’s would really annoy me so I won’t be getting that. I’m not getting the happy place one either, but really like the writing and colours.

I really need one that says ‘put your phone down and do some work, you lazy cow’ but I don’t think it’s available

Why not design your own with wording as appropriate?

If something is pleasing to you or makes you feel good never worry what other people think. I want some bob dylan lyrics on a print as I love them. Some would find that odd too, I am sure 😂

Get one like this ?

JaninaDuszejko · 19/06/2022 21:27

I have been debating getting a "die cry hate" one to go behind my head so it appears in all my work calls...but I fear it would be too childish.

I want a jobby sign in my downstairs bathroom but DH says no 😟. Spoilsport.

There is only one thing worse than these and that's the live, life, love and "dance like nobody is watching" terrible tattoos people have however the works would be a boring place if we all liked the same things

I have “eat, shit, die” in my home office. But OP - it matters not a jot what we or anyone else thinks. Buy them if they make you happy.

BeachwoodCafe · 19/06/2022 23:01

Order one that says "My Walls My Choice"

Grin

Art (or therapy, or moral support) is whatever you want it to be.

ArtVandalay · 19/06/2022 23:02

If you love them, plaster your walls with them.

I think they are hideous and naff, but who cares what I think! I am sure lots of people might find my taste objectionable.

My husband's home office is full of art that I hate - but it's his space and he enjoys it.

RobynNora · 19/06/2022 23:15

For the little it’s worth, I think your prints are cute!

The fonts are cheerful and the colours are happy. Life’s short (insert wall art cliche here) Carpe diem. You do you etc.
