DS is almost 4 and has ASD and a speech delay. He went out in the garden and said "mama, lovely, lovely day". It really made me smile. Anyone else want to share?

I call my 4 year old ‘pickle’ as a pet name, and her 2yo brother has started calling her that too. He also says ‘I too little’ if he can’t do something.

Florencenotflo · 19/06/2022 21:18

Dd1 used to say 'buff fly' instead of butterfly. It was so sweet.

Dd2 will randomly come up and cuddle me or lay her head on my knee and say 'I love you' but it's the way she says it. It's almost like she'd forgotten and just remembered!

I was having a shower the other day, dd1 asked why my tummy was jiggly (thanks!). I explained that mummy likes too many biscuits and doesn't exercise nearly enough. But I was trying hard to do better and maybe my tummy would get smaller. Dd told me I wasn't allowed, because she likes that I'm all squishy when we cuddle.

I just remembered another. We were on holiday last year, DS (then 2) saw donkeys on the beach for the first time. He called them sea horses. I assume because they look like horses and were by the sea!

These are so heartwarming Smile
@puppygalore does she have a mobile (sort that might have over a crib)?

My DS 4 was stood looking out of the living room window over at the neighbours house, and said "oh look mummy, franks grandad is going home now" our neighbour frank is about 75!! It was his friend who'd popped (over of a very similar age) going home! 😂

liliainterfrutices · 19/06/2022 21:35

My youngest went through a phase when he thought everything I did was brilliant and he always had to defend me from everyone and everything.
I was having a moan to DH about a difficult colleague at work and ended by saying 'I'd better stop - I'm an awful bitch' and DS4 leapt forth, shouting 'No, you're not Mummy - you're a great bitch!'

Oh I hope you tell Frank this! Lol

Really don't want to correct my 3yo's 'pins and noodles'

wordlewordle · 19/06/2022 22:40

Oh and she coined the term "huggles" ie at bedtime "mummy I want you to huggle me!"

I used to say 'huggle' when I was young too- in fact I used it most of the way through my childhood

VaginasaurusHex · 19/06/2022 22:45

My boy used to say "goodbye cruel world" every night when we drew the blinds. I still say it now!

Thisbastardcomputer · 19/06/2022 23:05

My son used to call his slippers his piers, we still call them piers, he's 41

Whiskeylover86 · 19/06/2022 23:13

DS 5 today. Lit a bonfire. He said "they're called embers...but I call them ambers..." 🥰

StopIWantToGetOffNow · 19/06/2022 23:14

Ds used to say when he had pins n needles in his hands or feet that he had 'fizzy feet or fizzy hands'

Love all these, little kids come out with the best stuff!

My DS is autistic and had a significant speech delay when he was younger. He had loads of words but no clue how to put them together. He speaks really well now but comes out with some absolutely cracking old fashioned phrases, they're either strangely adult (and like no adult he has in his world) or like some sort of eloquent Victorian child.

A few weeks back a bush in my parents garden had been completely attacked by caterpillars and it became habit to stop and look at them when we visited and see what they were up to. One evening we couldn't see any despite looking for ages and DS sighed, clapped his hands together and said 'they must have more pressing business to attend to' 😂

His younger brother is the master of mispronunciation despite being pretty fluent in sentences quite early on. His favourite football team is 'Maneschestener United' but only because they have a player with the same name as his brother ❤️

Both of them love my 'big squishy stomach' and both inform me that it got that way because 'you had two enormous babies didn't you mummy so it must have gotten all big and stretched out'. Which is pretty accurate to be fair. DS2 is desperate for a baby sibling and also frequently asks me if I have another baby in there. When I say no he will impatiently tell me that I need to get a boyfriend then so he can put a baby in there. Yeah cheers kid, I'm fully aware. Nothing like being single AND fat-shamed by your own kid 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

CassTheFox · 19/06/2022 23:36

Love these, kids are ace. When my eldest was 5, he came home from school and told me there are 7 wonders in the world, and his favourite one is “big Sainsburys”.

Pen89ox · 19/06/2022 23:45

I nipped into the shop with my 2 year old the other day, let him walk but he ended up wanting to be carried so I had him, plus my food.

He wanted a dinosaur shaped plant pot but I replied ‘sorry baby I’ve got no hands for that’ and he looked at me fully shocked and said ‘oh mummy, yes you do have hands…here!’

Squiff70 · 20/06/2022 00:01

@BarnacleNora "They must have more pressing business to attend to" really made me laugh!

Marty13 · 20/06/2022 00:55

Ooh I have lots !

When my son was 1.5yo he struggled to say "thank you" so instead he said "kakoo".

Once I asked my son "who's the cutest" (intending to say he was). His answer was "not me and not my brother but you !" He still says that whenever I ask him this question.

I got my son blue pajamas and we joked about him being a smurf. To this day all pajamas are officially called smurfs.

avamiah · 20/06/2022 01:05

Hope you don’t mind me posting as my daughter is 12 now but when she was a toddler if she wanted scrambled eggs she would say “eggy in a bowl” and if she wanted a boiled egg she would say “eggy in a cup”.

The good old days.

89redballoons · 20/06/2022 01:34

DS1 is 2 and a half, and loves helping in the garden. We have a large, round planter with a honeysuckle growing in it. DS1 keeps asking if he can help "water the honey circle".

Also he recently started toilet training. The first day of this he climbed up on the toilet with his training seat on and yelled, "I am sitting on the toilet! I am growned!"

Eggybod · 20/06/2022 15:07

When DS had sparkling water for the first time, and told DH about his 'shiny' water afterwards.

SparklestheUnicorn · 20/06/2022 15:10

DS2 has always called an octopus a chamfest. Don’t know how it started but he’s 12 know, knows full well what an octopus is but we all still call them chamfests.

Losingmymind1234 · 20/06/2022 17:21

I put some fake tan on last night , and my youngest asked me mama where have you’re old legs gone? Did you swap them for these new ones ? 🤣

Needhelp101 · 20/06/2022 17:37

These are adorable!

My 9 year old, who's autistic, saw two white doves the other day and exclaimed "wedding birds".

My teen cracks me up when he says "Yes, MOTHERRRRR" in a super sarcastic voice. And also when he says "Ten four" when I ask him to do something.
