I have wasted loads of meat

I got a gousto box for 4 days based on 4 people. The meat/fish was frozen. But like a prat I put it in the fridge. Instead of the freezer which meant it had to be eaten within 24hrs that 24hrs has gone so now we can't use the meat/fish. So now I have all that wasted food. Waste of money as well. as I have to replace could do without that. No point to this post what so ever. Just pissed off with myself.

I despair that people just don't use common sense, 'dates' are such a relatively new thing - and mainly used to encourage waste no doubt Grin. If it doesn't smell 'off' then cook it or freeze it. If you buy fresh meat from the butcher it doesn't come with a 'use by' date. We are such a wasteful society ... actually my DH is neurotic about dates, I frequently just take things out of their packaging so he has no idea... none of us has ever had food poisoning.

This isn't necessarily true you know... these recipe box kits vacuum pack chicken and it does say something on the packaging about a smell when unwrapping - you just need to let it evaporate before getting all het up about it!!

I've definitely had chicken that was in date but clearly smelt off. I know about leaving it to "air" first and it still smelt.
