...that we get on here in autumn/winter, about how nice it is to snuggle up on the sofa and get cosy on cold, dark nights?

Well, it is nice, I agree - but isn't it just as nice to have warm, balmy nights like this one (at least where I am), where you can sit in the garden till gone 9pm, and listen to the birds, and enjoy the smell of the flowers, and drink a chilled glass of white as twilight falls? 😌

Gorgeous, isn’t it? Smells lovely here.

mrtumblesspottybg · 16/06/2022 21:08

Nope i'm boiling hot, can't sleep cos of the noise outside the open window (open because i'm trying to keep cool) hay fever making my eyes itch like crazy. Dreading tomorrow already. Give me autumn winter any day!

Rubyupbeat · 16/06/2022 21:09

No...I cannot stand the heat that comes with it. I have a lovely scented garden and lots of birdsong, but long for the long dark nights and lots of freezing cold weather.

Poppins2016 · 16/06/2022 21:11

I agree with you. I love these light evenings. I also enjoy eating breakfast in the garden while everything is fresh/before the day heats up, it feels like such a lovely start to the day.

actiongirl1978 · 16/06/2022 21:12

It's bliss.
Had a lovely early evening walk with DH. Just opened the windows for the evening to catch the cool air so the house smells amazing.
Love wearing just a dress and flip flops every morning.

stuntbubbles · 16/06/2022 21:14

I’m sweating buckets, can’t stop sneezing with the pollen falling around me, and all I’d hear if I went outside is the roar of traffic and the neighbour’s shitty club music played through his phone. Your version does sound pleasant, though.

ElizabethCaroline · 16/06/2022 21:14

Nice if you have a garden in the countryside. A city apartment with no balcony means sitting in a hot box! Give me autumn any day!

Theimpossiblegirl · 16/06/2022 21:15

Just took the dog for a lovely long walk followed by an aperol-spritz in the garden. Love it.
In winter I have to walk him in the dark.

Mooothe · 16/06/2022 21:18

I like the warmth, the bbqs, being able to do outside hobbies, but hate the hay-fever, bugs and the daylight starting again at 3AM I get up here can piss off 😂

CuriousCatfish · 16/06/2022 21:19

It's so lovely to have hours of day light after finishing work. I don't want to trudge home in the dark and rain and get cosy. I want to enjoy the warm light evenings after being stuck at work all day.

I absolutely love this time of year.

Cuck00soup · 16/06/2022 21:20

I'm feeling the love too. Have had a lovely evening walk and a BBQ. I love May and June, especially when it's hot. My favourite time of year.

bellamountain · 16/06/2022 21:20

I sweat like there's no tomorrow but the evenings are beautiful. The birds are particularly musical tonight. Prefer the summer definitely.

Rosewaterblossom · 16/06/2022 21:21

I suppose for every lovely warm summers night with a glass of wine and bird song there's someone who's suffering from heat, hay-fever and sweat.

Same as for every cosy evening, blanket with hot chocolate, there's someone suffering from the cold, depressive mode and chills.

AmongstTheCosmos · 16/06/2022 21:23

I love it too. We had dinner outside and it was heaven. You can smell the flowers much better in the evening. These long evenings are wonderful and I really savour them.

Stinkywizzleteets · 16/06/2022 21:27

It’s not hot and lovely here. It’s cool now (wasn’t even hot in the day just warm) and it’s cloudy. Due to rain and be a balmy 16 degrees tomorrow when the rest of the country has 30+

I’d rather have a cosy dark night than yet another a pishy wet summer one.

Sandcastles24 · 16/06/2022 21:28

Couldn't ask for a more pleasant evening after such a hot day

Hiphophippityskip1 · 16/06/2022 21:40

Well i am in ireland and its grey, 13 degrees and bloody miserable. There are no seasons just cold and grey or wet. So next time people are waxing lyrical about how green and lovely Ireland is the shit weather is the reason why! So i am having an irish coffee by the fire with blanket in my lap! In mid June ffs

Ah mate, I feel for you, that sounds miserable.

I love the long hours of daylight, cup of tea in the garden first thing, sitting out till late in the evening (I'm outside now having just got back from my allotment). It's just the 9-5 bit I hate with this sort of heat, I will be hiding in the shade tomorrow that's for sure.

My DH is the same - hides inside on hot days like some sort of urban vampire. But even he emerged in the evening to enjoy the pleasantly warm air.

Makes you glad to be alive. I endure winter, but live for spring/summer. I hate being hot, but it's.not blisteringly.hot all day. Long daylight hours and everything sings.

CuriousCatfish · 16/06/2022 22:07

Everything looks alive in the garden at this time of year. I hate when it all starts to die. The parks are beautiful too,

Who wants to cosy up with hot chocolate and blankets in the dark when there is so much green and colour outside .

Worldwide2 · 16/06/2022 22:12

I'm with you op. It was so hot today and I absolutely love it. Walking around in summer clothes, no heavy coat fighting against the wind, rain and the chill. Longer days, eating outside, bbqs and walks down the beach. I hope its a long summer. Love waking up to brilliant sunshine and warmth. ☀ Ah bliss 😌

user2908143823142536475859708 · 16/06/2022 22:14

I love all the changes.

You can't beat a bowl of hot homemade soup with cosy jammies and fire on in the winter.

But you also can't beat a lovely ice cold drink sitting out in the garden on a hot evening.

Katya213 · 16/06/2022 22:14

Yes, it’s absolutely lovely here where I am.
