...that we get on here in autumn/winter, about how nice it is to snuggle up on the sofa and get cosy on cold, dark nights?

Well, it is nice, I agree - but isn't it just as nice to have warm, balmy nights like this one (at least where I am), where you can sit in the garden till gone 9pm, and listen to the birds, and enjoy the smell of the flowers, and drink a chilled glass of white as twilight falls? 😌

Absolutely

I can appreciate all the seasons but there is an utter joy in late spring and early summer than nothing else comes close to - it’s just so full of LIFE

Moonface123 · 16/06/2022 22:22

l live outside this time of year, and if l felt safe enough l would even sleep outdoors in my garden underneath the stars, its the best time of year, l love all the seasons but this one is my favourite.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 16/06/2022 22:30

There is something magical and to be loved about every single season.

LuckySantangelo35 · 16/06/2022 22:33

i don’t get the whole cosy, hot choc and snuggles with my little family crew

I find it so weird!

Flowers and nature, bbq’s, beer gardens, sandals and sunglasses, long light nights, no need to turn heating on, not getting wet in the rain, fresh air, etc etc

Honestly what’s not to love?!

user1471538283 · 16/06/2022 22:37

I love the hot weather and have a high tolerance for heat. I'm particularly loving being with quiet neighbors so we all enjoy it in peace.

Blossomtoes · 16/06/2022 22:37

What a beautiful day it was today. I walked the dog late and it was a joy to wander by the river. A slight breeze would have made it perfection.

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 16/06/2022 22:43

I've had months of pruning, planting, tending and weeding in the cold , windy and damp weather... I'm loving enjoying the fruits of my labour now.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 17/06/2022 17:39

I know not everyone likes this weather, but it's actual perfection for me. The air itself is warm. I couldn't ask for better.

I was born in the wrong place, I should've been Mediterranean.

Throughout winter I looked out to the garden everyday and couldn't wait to be able to be able to enjoy it fully again.
I don't mind winter but no coats, DC playing in the garden while I snooze, read, chat with friends and bbq is pretty unbeatable.

I am absolutely going to have a large glass of vino in the garden in about 20 mins!

Great thread.

frogswimming · 17/06/2022 17:54

I get bored of both as they come to an end. Come September I'll be all up for pumpkin lattes and crunchy leaves. But now I am all about warm air and sandals.

Chaoslatte · 17/06/2022 17:56

Nope. I slept in the living room last night because my bedroom was too hot! Awful.

FreezyFreezy · 17/06/2022 18:13

Sometimes yes, I love sitting in the summerhouse and listening to the day ending and the night draw in but other days, usually when I have a heat headache or my hayfever is bad (and it's been awful these last few days) I long for September.

mydogisthebest · 17/06/2022 18:25

I absolutely love the light mornings and evenings. Dark morning and evenings/afternoons just make me very depressed.

I am not that keen on very hot weather (bit too hot for me today) but still prefer it to the dark, grey, wet, miserable winter days.

For me there is absolutely nothing cosy about winter. I hate winter clothes - really hate wearing socks or tights and also hate any top with long sleeves. Hate the dark, hate the grey miserable days and loathe snow

IncompleteSenten · 17/06/2022 18:28

Not for me. Last night I was locked in my room with the windows wide open, fan on, stark naked and still too hot to sleep!
I hate it.

godmum56 · 17/06/2022 18:30

Nope I am too hot and sweating, my old dog hates it.

Yeah, pretty much. I was convinced there was something seriously wrong with me this past winter. Wasn't sure if it was depression or peri-menopause or what, but I was verging on suicidal.

As soon as the lighter nights started, my whole mood lifted abd I was ok again.

We don't all have gardens. Annoys me a bit when this assumption is made.

Yes, it sounds lovely to spend a balmy evening in your garden with birds twittering and flowers flowering.

EllaPaella · 17/06/2022 19:08

I think summer is lovely if you have a nice quiet outdoor space to enjoy and considerate neighbours. I suspect it's not quite so enjoyable if you don't.

PumpkinSpicedLatte22 · 17/06/2022 19:19

No.

SoupDragon · 17/06/2022 19:22

I hate the 9 months of miserable weather we get. This is a joy. "Cosy" can go wrap itself up in a blanket and throw itself on a sacrificial fire.

no mud on my dog walk for a start!

Totally agree. Love seasonal changes
I'd be so bored living in the same weather all year.

We’re cut from the same cloth! Our favourite dog walk’s like the Somme in the winter. The joy of not having to scrape my boots and put the dog in the sink when we get home is fabulous.

FourTeaFallOut · 17/06/2022 19:58

Sounds lovely, unfortunately it is fairly cool here and another cloudy day on the cards for tomorrow. Maybe I could house swap from someone trying to escape the heat?

I am like two different people summer and winter. If I could hibernate all through the dark miserable days I would.

In the summer I go to bed between 11pm/12pm and am up at 7am feeling pretty bright and breezy. In the winter I literally drag myself out of bed and never before 8.30 and feel dreadful.

For me it is definitely the light though. The cold doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as it being dark

Well i am in ireland and its grey, 13 degrees and bloody miserable. There are no seasons just cold and grey or wet. So next time people are waxing lyrical about how green and lovely Ireland is the shit weather is the reason why! So i am having an irish coffee by the fire with blanket in my lap! In mid June ffs

I'm also in Ireland, yesterday was wet sticky and miserable all day but then the evening cleared up, we ate dinner indoors with the door open to the fine evening and afterwards dc had a campfire and us adults sat on the garden furniture with jumpers on for an hour or so.

I love these evenings equally as much as I love being in by the fire in autumn or winter. I don't love walking my dog in the rain though
