How long for childs blood test results possible leukemia

How long would you expect to wait for blood test results of a full blood count to try and rule out leukemia in a child if all day (tests done early morning) has passed since with no notification of anything untoward?
Thanks

I know of one person who did the blood, and arrived home to find an ambulance waiting, but I wouldn't expect it to be generally that quick.

When ds was tested for it, then we had an appointment with the paediatrician 3 days later (it wasn't). I suspect if it had been then they'd have moved the appointment earlier.

Not leukaemia, but I had blood tests done one morning, and got the results the next day, so 24 hours for blood tests done at gp surgery.

Goodskin46 · 16/06/2022 20:53

Hours possibly 24 if taken at GPs.

At my hospital they are back within a few hours. If the suspect leukaemia, they’ll be all over it with results. Fingers crossed

SmallDucks · 16/06/2022 21:00

Did the blood test mid morning, they knew he had leukaemia by the afternoon.

maeveiscurious · 16/06/2022 21:09

Within the day normally (I've had it twice)

Backwardsandinhighheels · 16/06/2022 21:19

Hospital - hours / same day
GP - a day or so

Jemimapuddleduk · 16/06/2022 22:00

Within a day at hospital, treatment started shortly after. Best of luck x

KittenKong · 16/06/2022 22:02

Fingers crossed it will be all clear - I’m my experience it’s been bloody fast (on the same day) when leukaemia has been spotted.

Cuddlywuddlies · 16/06/2022 22:03

GrazingSheep · 16/06/2022 22:06

Our experience with a parent - an hour.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 16/06/2022 22:07

A full blood count only takes about an hour. Hope everything goes well for you

JuneJubilee · 16/06/2022 22:09

(((HUG)))

I would have expected to hear by now if it was lukemia, I would hope no news is good news.

best wishes
xx

RagingWoke · 16/06/2022 22:12

Generally v quick if it's bad news. Not a child but my dad had bloods done and a call 3 hours later to confirm leukaemia and get him in next day. Same a friends relative, 3yo and a call within hours when it was leukaemia, others a day or so to say it wasn't.

RagingWoke · 16/06/2022 22:13

Posted too soon!

I hope it's good news for you, and handhold in the meantime x

SleeplessWB · 16/06/2022 22:26

Similar to others, I know 2 children this has happened to recently and they both had it confirmed within a matter of hours that it was leukemia.

Katya213 · 16/06/2022 22:33

You would’ve heard a by the afternoon. It’s not leukaemia.

AxolotlEars · 16/06/2022 22:41

Quickly...a couple of hours at the most....when my daughter was diagnosed

whattodo2019 · 16/06/2022 22:44

Within 24 hours

DiscoBadgers · 16/06/2022 22:49

Extremely quickly usually. In these cases, it really is ‘no news is good news’ normally.
