I love love love cheese. I'm pretty basic, love Brie and Camembert.

My dad always used to bring me Saint Felicien from a booze cruise. That's probably my top cheese.

I also like hard cheese, blue cheese (not Stilton though) smoked cheese

What am I missing out on?

On the flip side of this: I bought some Cheese Strings the other week to re-experience some of the magic of my youth.

In the same spirit, I sometimes buy a tube of Primula or some Dairy Lea (sp?) triangles.

I love Paneer in curry, its so mild and has a nice creamy flavour and a satisfying texture without being squeaky and salty like halloumi.

I'm old enough to have done Home Economics O level. As part of the practical one of my friends made a "cheese curry" that she'd found in a book.
Unfortunately, neither she nor the teacher had come across paneer, so she used some cheddar instead.
It wasn't bad, just less nice.

FlatBottomedGirl · 12/06/2022 15:14

Goats cheese of any description.

Cambazola

You're all wrong.

Époisses is the answer.

My DP’s favourite. I can’t get past the smell…

Hopeful16 · 12/06/2022 16:34

@BarbaraofSeville where would I find truffle Brie sil vous plait???

PieonaBarm · 12/06/2022 16:52

Lancashire - crumbly or creamy. Both are good. I buy it by the kilo for my brother who now lives in Scotland!

LongLiveLiz · 12/06/2022 17:25

Another vote for Cambazola, a blue Brie but very mild so not blue cheesy.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 12/06/2022 17:28

Port Salut! There's something magical about that orange rind 🤤

I do also love a Camembert with some crusty bread for dipping, but we've have mixed luck with them. Some melt really nicely in the oven and some go sort of lumpy. What's with that?

saveforthat · 12/06/2022 17:36

I love cheese and Im absolutely starving as having to fast before a procedure tomorrow. My absolute favourite is manchego but I once ate so much of it I couldn't touch it for several months. 2nd favourite very strong mature cheddar. M&S do some nice ones, I also like buying from local suppliers at farmers markets etc.

RoseLunarPink · 12/06/2022 17:40

Ooohhhh I love cheese. My faves are wensleydale with apricots (or white stilton with apricots alternatively), goat's cheese (grilled on a salad), and cheddar - in a sandwich with tomatoes and squashy white bread, or on a baked potato. But also so many more. Havarti, feta, Halloumi, mozzarella, gruyere, blacksticks blue, parmesan mmmmmm.

Not that fussed about super-posh, runny or stinky cheese, but I'll always try it. I love going on holiday and trying weird local cheeses. In Spain I had blue cheese ice cream!

ShirleyJackson · 12/06/2022 17:41

All of it.

All of the cheese, all of the time.

Except Red Leicester and Edam. Because cheese shouldn’t bounce, should it?

notonyournely · 12/06/2022 17:42

@Hopeful16 I tried Sage Derby recently and really didn't like it. First cheese I've met that I wasn't keen on. My local cheese shop does a lemon cheese, can't recall what type of cheese it is, feeling it might be lancs.

SuziSecondLaw · 12/06/2022 17:42

The crumbly one! Cheshire? 🤔

They taste like how a goat smells
Goats Cheese just tastes like how I imagine licking a goat would. Bleurgh.

See I agree goat's cheese taste like goats smell but I like it! It's a bit like garlic for me - the more I have it the more I like it.

AuntieMarys · 12/06/2022 17:43

I love all cheese. Currently in the fridge there's a crumbly Lancashire, charcoal, epoises, brie and nettle.

notonyournely · 12/06/2022 17:43

Yes to Delice @MrsPnut. Divine cheese

namechanged221 · 12/06/2022 17:44

Cambozola

FabFitFifties · 12/06/2022 17:45

Brought in the 70's with Cheshire, Wensleydale and Red Leicester , so stiil think that's real cheese😂Really love mature Cheddar. Despise fruity ones and worst ever was chocolate flavour out of a hamper 🤢

Yarg

southlondoner02 · 12/06/2022 17:59

Roquefort, Comte and strong cheddar. Also have some aged Gouda in the fridge which is pretty good.

Not keen on any cheese with fruit in though

Inextremis · 12/06/2022 18:04

My all-time favourite is Stinking Bishop, but I recently had another washed rind cheese called Drunken Saint (washed in cider) which was lovely. I'm also enjoying a truffle-infused goat gouda, some Young Buck (blue, similar to Stilton), and some Milleens Dote (Irish, washed-rind again) at the moment. Had a gruyere and emmental fondue last night, also raclette ( my birthday, went overboard on the cheese!) and both were wonderful. I really, really like cheese!

UrsulaPandress · 12/06/2022 18:09

Boulette d’Avesnes. Not for the faint hearted.

JustMeAndAria · 12/06/2022 18:14

Love cheese, but I extra love cambozola its a blue brie and I can eat a portion in one sitting :)

Bonjovispjs · 12/06/2022 18:15

Tesco vintage cheddar is the best, also love goats cheese, goes really well with marmite!
