I love love love cheese. I'm pretty basic, love Brie and Camembert.

My dad always used to bring me Saint Felicien from a booze cruise. That's probably my top cheese.

I also like hard cheese, blue cheese (not Stilton though) smoked cheese

What am I missing out on?

Cambazola

devonianBiatch · 12/06/2022 13:48

I love white Stilton with stem ginger. Blackstick blue. Kickass cheddar. Dolcelatte. Stinky bishop. And a nice sheeps cheese. Served with cornichons, silver skin pickled onions, my own recipe chipotle chilli honey, and lots of crackers.

Almost impossible to get now, but nothing beats an unpasteurised cheddar. (Stronger even than Black Bomber.). Delicious on the tongue, almost slightly sweet, and then you feel it on the back of your throat when you swallow it.

Oh it's got to have a REALLY good quality butter too. Lescure butter or a nice jersey organic.

SnottyLottie · 12/06/2022 13:55

Brie, Camembert & Cheddar

heavyistheheed · 12/06/2022 13:57

You're all wrong.

Époisses is the answer.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 12/06/2022 13:59

Brie, or a really mature Cheddar (feline Cheddars welcome, too - no discrimination here).

I've just been introduced to a Brie-like cheese called Brillat Savarin - it's like Brie mixed with cream, and it's almost sweet. Like Brie made from the milk of an angel. Amazing.

OldTinHat · 12/06/2022 14:01

My favourite cheese is cheese. Just cheese, however it comes.

Apart from halloumi. Not a fan of that imposter which you can't just enjoy on a cracker.

SpottedOnMN · 12/06/2022 14:01

Y Fenni (mustardy) and Harlech (horseradishy) are my favourite. There used to be a cheese stall on my local market that sold them, and you can sometimes get Y Fenni in Tesco. Otherwise I’m building up to a bulk purchase from a cheesemonger online.

LaMarschallin · 12/06/2022 14:05

I don't think there's a cheese I wouldn't eat, but agree with PPs that Vacherin and Époisses are lovely; also love good butter.
Another favourite is Pont l'Évêque.
I think it's the lack of good substitutes for cheese, butter, cream and eggs that would stop me becoming a vegan.

GrouchyKiwi · 12/06/2022 14:06

A very strong cheddar is my favourite.

In my hometown in NZ they make a cheddar-style cheese called Totara Tasty. It has lovely little crunchy bits in it and it makes me happy. I will buy a tonne of it when we're across next.

Maxifly · 12/06/2022 14:10

Isle of mull unpasteurised cheddar. Tasty Lancashire. Comte.

MrsMigginsCat · 12/06/2022 14:11

Cambozola, Cornish Yarg, a good Stilton or a nice gooey Brie or Camembert.

I've only recently found out that Brillat Savarin is a cheese Blush
DH and I were doing a quiz and one question was which of these isn't a cheese? I immediately piped up with the answer "Brillat Savarin because he was a food writer". Pride preceeding fall etc
Although the cheese was named after the writer, but still...
It sounds gorgeous - can't wait to try it 😍

Buratta - and Waitrose are now selling it.

RampantIvy · 12/06/2022 14:21

Another Black Bomber fan here. Also Belton Farm Aged Red Leicester.

Bloodybridget · 12/06/2022 14:24

Chaource is one of my favourites. M&S sells it, and Waitrose of course, don't think I've seen it in Sainsbury's. A good Cheddar is always delicious. But a lot of cheeses that can be wonderful, only are if you buy them from a proper cheesemonger or deli - supermarket plastic wrapped bits just aren't that nice. Comte and manchego, for example.

Plump82 · 12/06/2022 14:25

I love cheese. My wedding "cake" was made of cheese and it featured one called Dorstone. It was beautiful!! I also love Caboc but it's bloody difficult to find.

soundsofthesixties · 12/06/2022 14:33

My teenage grandson asked for lots of cheese for a Christmas present Grin

LadyCampanulaTottington · 12/06/2022 14:42

I’m a mostly hard cheese woman. Pecorino Romano, Pecorino Sardo and Pecorino Pepato Siciliano. Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano. All eaten with honey and walnuts.

I also love Buffalo Mozzarella, halloumi, cheddar and who can forget a delicious Babybel 😁

Ciko · 12/06/2022 14:45

Wensleydale, Cheshire, Caerphilly and that spicy cheese.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 12/06/2022 14:45

On the flip side of this: I bought some Cheese Strings the other week to re-experience some of the magic of my youth.

They are so weirdly sweaty. Really off putting Envy

LoonyLurcher · 12/06/2022 14:49

Kaltbach is the best.

happysunr1se · 12/06/2022 14:54

I like Cremet by Sharphams, Beenleigh blue, Cornish blue, Rosary or Perroche fresh goats cheese, Stithians and Cornish Kern, there's so many good British cheeses!

I love Paneer in curry, its so mild and has a nice creamy flavour and a satisfying texture without being squeaky and salty like halloumi.

Also supermarket wise I love Port Salut, any strong vintage cheddar, burrata, gruyere, pre sliced gouda for quick snack access and occasionally that German smoked cheese with ham bits in it. Love cheese!!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 12/06/2022 15:00

I love apricot Stilton...
