I really really am jealous of everyone going on holiday.
My whole social media is full of people going abroad and we aren't going away till first week in November (canary islands) I'm kicking myself we booked for then and not now.
It was because of all the travel chaos and we both needs passport renewals.
I'm just so envious
155 days for us
How to deal with this horrible feeling?
I'm going to Newquay in august for a few nights but it's not exactly abroad sunshine is it ha ha
Anyone else in the same boat ?
(This is lighthearted so please don't think I'm a drama queen )

What is it you are craving? Heat? I don't travel abroad, don't even have a passport, but recognise the need for down time, different scenery, time with family away from the daily routine etc. There are other ways to recreate this but not sure how to recreate the heat of abroad if that's the thing you're wanting. I haven't experienced it for 25yrs and count this as a good thing!

Ohthatsexciting · 11/06/2022 15:09

I was going to post photos of my wonderful holiday this morning but then I thought…. Loads of people won’t stand a chance of experiencing this, so I didn’t.

pleased I didn’t

Newquay should be lovely (and bloody expensive!)

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/06/2022 15:10

I was going to agree with you but I have nothing booked this year at all and had no honeymoon last year. Just a mini moon in bath so stop moaning and look forward to it Grin

CurbsideProphet · 11/06/2022 15:11

If I hear of people going abroad this hear I can only think of horrific queues at Manchester Airport, cancelled flights, lost baggage etc. No jealousy from me!

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 15:11

I'm craving the heat and the beach ...and waiting 5 months seems like forever.
I'm hoping my passport comes back in time

I understand how you feel, but maybe just cross off the days on a calendar until your own holiday, they will soon spin around.
Your lucky to have a few breaks lined up. Lots of people may not get a chance to get away this year due to the cost and so on.
We are nearly half way through the year so November isn't that far off either.

Zoeslatesttrope · 11/06/2022 15:13

I haven't been on holiday since 2008 if that's any help?!

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 15:15

We don't holiday anywhere you have to fly to because of the environment so places like Newquay are where we look forward to most years. We are going to rural France to visit family in September this year and similarly look forward to the sunshine! You'll have a lovely time in the meantime think of the travel chaos!

Amipreg1 · 11/06/2022 15:15

Some people can't afford to pay their bills let alone afford a holiday so maybe just try to be grateful that you can.

HairyToity · 11/06/2022 15:16

You need to get off social media.

We can't afford a foreign holiday. I feel blessed that we can afford a holiday, and look forward to a week in Scotland in August.

amylou8 · 11/06/2022 15:18

Their holidays will be long gone, and you'll be filling your social media with beautiful sunny pics, while they're shivering in gloomy British November. It will be here soon enough 🏝️☀️

namechangeanonymous · 11/06/2022 15:18

I LOVE a winter holiday, England is lovely this time of year and dependent on where you live so much beautiful Greenery but a winter holiday when my bones are cold I'm in a winter coat and the days feel long popping overseas for a couple of weeks sunshine, yes please!

Mytoddlerisamazing · 11/06/2022 15:19

Get off social media and start counting your blessings. Plenty of people can't afford to go abroad, or even on holiday at all.

Louise0701 · 11/06/2022 15:19

Do you have enough annual leave to book something for July / August? November is a long time to wait!

Ohthatsexciting · 11/06/2022 15:22

Because I knew I’d be taking multiple holidays the moment I could
During lockdown I checked our passports and got two renewed that needed doing.
it was back in 9 days
so bloody relieved I did that!

Oh my one memory of Newcastle is the biting wind and cold. In October!

im a soft southerner though. Never returned!

bigbluebus · 11/06/2022 15:23

If it's any consolation OP, we were due to go on holiday today but have had to cancel as DH has Covid and I'm pretty sure I'll test positive by tomorrow too. It was an activity holiday and social distancing from other parties would not have been possible plus the way I feel today I don't think I'd have been an active participant.

serenghetti2011 · 11/06/2022 15:25

You chose to go later? I’ve not been abroad for years and probably won’t. Just save longer for an amazing holiday. Least you’re having one at some point, I’d love to have something to look forward to it’s been a tough year
enjoy when you go, all the people who’ve been will feel the same as you do now 😊

I would have totally gone had I felt well enough
mind You I never would have even tested unless required
but you feel I’ll so different

Ariela · 11/06/2022 15:33

Just think of the hassle you saved yourselves at the airport. And the possibility of cancelled flights coming back.

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 15:37

I'm just hoping the weather is nice in Gran Canaria come November.
We are going on the 13th
As long as it's at least 20 degrees and sunny I will be happy

Can you change it?

November there really is very high chance of chilly and likely rain.

very little heat to speak of

I am going early Oct and that is as far a risk as I’d go.

you have 20 degrees here you say. Surely you want some glorious sun and proper heat by the sounds of it?

if I were you, I’d spend on getting it earlier

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 15:50

@Ohthatsexciting I had a look and the average November temp is 24 degrees so I would be happy with that
I'm not sure how much the cost would be to change it now
