I'm so jealous of everyone going on holiday ....

I really really am jealous of everyone going on holiday.
My whole social media is full of people going abroad and we aren't going away till first week in November (canary islands) I'm kicking myself we booked for then and not now.
It was because of all the travel chaos and we both needs passport renewals.
I'm just so envious
155 days for us
How to deal with this horrible feeling?
I'm going to Newquay in august for a few nights but it's not exactly abroad sunshine is it ha ha
Anyone else in the same boat ?
(This is lighthearted so please don't think I'm a drama queen )

Well I'm jealous of you haha. I really really want to go away. I love everything about going abroad. From booking to getting on the plane home.

I wanted to book up last year for this year but the uncertainty of how covid was panning out but now the cost of living and fuel, the queues and chaos at airports has made me re-think the reality of going away is zero. I'm going to London in August for 2 days as I'll be on the way to see ds1 so decided while we're down that way we might as well have a little break as that seems to be all we're going to get this year. Of course there's now going to be train strikes so I'm hoping we won't be affected.

now I'm thinking I'll book for next year but again, the way they're cancelling flights makes me a bit anxious.

@Ohthatsexciting I had a look and the average November temp is 24 degrees so I would be happy with that
I'm not sure how much the cost would be to change it now

That is very optimistic
i would look on to it personally
potentially a false economy otherwise

OneCup · 11/06/2022 15:53

I thought from your title that you were going to say you couldn't afford to go on holiday, not that you already had two holidays booked for this year. What you have planned is actually lovely! Think of it this way: when everyone is stuck in the gloomy November weather, you will be jetting off somewhere nice! Newquay should be lovely as well!

Ohthatsexciting · 11/06/2022 15:54

Don’t ever trust a holiday company for weather

aways do a Google on “historical weather data for XYZ”

then you can look at the facts

RollOnWinter · 11/06/2022 15:55

I haven't been on holiday for 4 years. Be glad you're going to be going somewhere.

Nidan2Sandan · 11/06/2022 15:56

Loads of people wont be able to afford any holiday at all, let alone abroad so maybe just be grateful that you can afford to go in November.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time once you're there and your friends home in the cold will be jealous.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 11/06/2022 15:59

So you've got 2 holidays in the space of 4 months?

Not too shabby is it?!

AuntieMarys · 11/06/2022 16:01

Blimey at least you're away...twice!

HRHBreathMints · 11/06/2022 16:04

You’re going at the best time! It’s hot here at the moment. You’ll be going in November when we are all getting cold, prepping for Christmas and days are getting darker. You’ve chosen a great time

tiredanddangerous · 11/06/2022 16:06

You're going on holiday twice this year? Including abroad? Do you have any idea how utterly ridiculous you're being?

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 16:07

It is very lighthearted as I said ...it's not going to ruin my year waiting till November ..it's just a little bit of the green eyed monster for the lucky sods going sooner

What is it you are craving? Heat? I don't travel abroad, don't even have a passport, but recognise the need for down time, different scenery, time with family away from the daily routine etc. There are other ways to recreate this but not sure how to recreate the heat of abroad if that's the thing you're wanting. I haven't experienced it for 25yrs and count this as a good thing!

Me too, almost word for word.

We can't go away this year at all, I'm envious too.

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 16:10

@Ohthatsexciting well I've just checked November 13th temp was 26.5 in 2020 but 2021 it was only 21.5 so it can vary
I hope I get lucky

That’s good. 🤞

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 16:18

@Ohthatsexciting enjoy your October holiday ☀️

Chewbecca · 11/06/2022 16:19

I don’t know what ohthatsexciting is on about early 20s is extremely normal in GC in November. It’s a great time to go as the difference in temp from home is much better than going at this time of year.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 11/06/2022 16:25

The canaries usually have lovely temperatures all through the winter so don’t worry about that. November is a fab time to go. We went in Jan and it was early 20s.

GlisteningGoldGrasses · 11/06/2022 16:34

But anticipating the holiday is the best bit isn't it? Enjoy counting down. My only holiday this year is actually a long weekend in Whitley Bay (which I love) so if you want to experience my holiday while you're waiting for your more elaborate ones you could hop on the metro when the sun comes out🙂

londoncallings · 11/06/2022 16:36

@GlisteningGoldGrasses aww I do actually love Whitley bay,I used to stay in the caravan park with my mam ...some lovely memories

I feel ya, we are going away to Mexico in October and it feels like forever away. I just keep thinking when everyone else is back, it's getting cold and their tans have faded it's out time! It also means when we get back we only have 9 months until our summer holiday next year 😁

Bonjovispjs · 11/06/2022 17:23

I'm actually relieved I don't have a holiday booked abroad with the chaos that's going on at our airports, I read somewhere that it could take 18 months to get back to normal, don't know if that's accurate though!

potteringinmysocks · 11/06/2022 17:36

In November of your friends will be wishing they were you escaping the British autumn grey and rain! It will fly by Op! Then in November you can feel smug from your sun bed! 😁😁
