I feel quite sad. Like many I really enjoyed the tv programme, visited Ravenseat for a cream tea and met and chatted with them both.

Amanda & Clive Owen Split

BlueKaftan · 12/06/2022 04:29

Divorced with 9 children. Surely the cracks were there a kids ago?

MayBeee · 12/06/2022 06:47

A few of the children are fairly grown up . Raven must be coming up to leaving uni or at least in the last year. Reuben is doing an apprenticeship in an agricultural mechanics garage , and a couple of the others are mid teens.
That leaves. 4/5 still at home and the age of needing proper care from parents / adults. If Amanda is not living at Ravenseat, and Clive still daily farming ( with Amanda coming / going , if media is correct ) then I wonder who is looking after the kids for the rest of the time ?

Me too!

And me

thefamilyupstairs · 13/06/2022 19:54

Not the point of the thread but has Amanda had work done on her face? She looks quite different.

WeAreTheHeroes · 13/06/2022 20:15

I thought that - probably a bit older and has lost of bit of weight?

thefamilyupstairs · 13/06/2022 20:40

Her cheeks look a lot more defined, as if they have filler and her nose definitely looks more chiselled. It doesn't look like age or weight loss to me.

Louise0701 · 13/06/2022 20:41

@erikbloodaxe not true that that’s the reason. They’ve been separated for ages.

Antigonads · 13/06/2022 20:44

Good luck to them.

but, I could never get my head round the clothes she wore for working on the moors.

I have seen a lot of "poor Clive" comments on Facebook but he chose to get together with a very young women when he was in his mid 40s so he shouldn't be surprised when that women hits the prime of her life and doesn't want to nursemaid an old man. Them's the breaks....

I also wouldn't set too much store by their "we are still best friends and everything is rosy" shtick. They're not going to write that they are hurling pots and pans at each other, the kids are distraught and I'm shagging the cameraman in the local hotel are they?

Im sure they'll be fine though, they must've made millions.

That’s a bit unfair. She went into the relationship with open eyes, and knew what she was getting into. Plenty of large age gap relationships succeed.

No change from the status quo on that front probably. They seem to exist in organised chaos with school attended and roam free the rest of the time.

thefamilyupstairs · 13/06/2022 20:56

@Antigonads the local (male) farmers said Amanda likes male and media attention, hence the clothing. Her trotting over the moors in a mini skirt will be a talking point wherever she is.

Very much agree with this. She was 21 when she went to work on his farm and he was in his 40s. Yuk in my opinion.

As PP have said, seems they've lived separately for a while so this is just confirming it.

While I do think the children have a lovely life and there are many aspects of the parenting which I admire, I can see why Social Services have been involved. I was shocked by the kids riding quad bikes and in trailers etc without helmets, that's plain neglect.

It's also very standard behaviour for farming families.

Many children die in farm accidents every year. It's avoidable behaviours that cause them mostly (& sadly). It was one of the things that stood out to me the most from my NEBOSH training.

That and don't listen to a lecture on forklift injuries before lunch.

Yes, it’s a shame for the kids that they’ve split up but I did do a double take at their statement the kids are their priority. You can’t possibly give that many kids enough attention, if they were really the priority they wouldn’t have had so many.

lollipoprainbow · 14/06/2022 06:57

@LizzieSiddal she didn't mind having all those kids with him did she ?? You think he shouldn't get any pity that she's run off? 40 and 21 is hardly a massive age gap! She knew exactly what she was getting into.

TequilaSunriseforme · 14/06/2022 07:08

I feel sorry for the kids. Their whole childhoods on national TV and now their parents marriage being picked over by the public. Their mother has moved out and seems to spend her time away doing interviews and shows. Not to mention the probable affair. It’s made a lot of money and probably given them financial security , but at another cost.

the children of Clive’s first marriage apparently feel very aggrieved that they didn’t get the sort of childhood his second family got.

missdemeanors · 14/06/2022 07:19

@TequilaSunriseforme I feel sorry for them too.
In many respects they have a lovely life style. But it would be far better to have that life style off camera. Many of those children were too young to consent with any understanding to the intrusion on their life

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 14/06/2022 07:32

And all of those kids!
It just goes to show you never know what's going on behind closed doors. And evidence if ever it were needed that there's no link at all between strength of a marriage and number of kids.

TequilaSunriseforme · 14/06/2022 07:34

Clive seemed to feature less and less as the show went on. It became all about Amanda and her increasingly skimpy clothing. Sad really.
she was quite an ordinary looking woman initially. She looks like a model now.

ShirleyJackson · 14/06/2022 07:38

When I met her she entertained the front row of the venue she was appearing at with a good eyeful of her stocking tops.

I came away with the distinct impression that if she was made of chocolate, she would eat herself.

All the local farmers came away with a spring in their step though Grin

hidinginthekitchenwithwine · 14/06/2022 08:09

always think when a 40 year
old and a 20 year old get together, that age and life gap is immense and doomed to fail. It did with my sister and two of my friends. They also split when they were mid to late forties and partners were mid to late sixties...

Hmm wasn't Amanda a model originally?

She went for a photo shoot when she was a teenager, but never actually modelled according to this article

I thought she'd modelled some farm wear (fleeces, breeches etc) for a local Yorkshire company at one time.

missdemeanors · 14/06/2022 14:32

I wouldn't imagine she'd have made it as a model. She's got the height but isn't particularly photogenic in the way models are. I don't mean that negatively- she's perfectly pleasant looking but to model professionally she'd need the bone structure and features for it.

I can well believe she's found a niche modelling farm wear though! She seems to me a very determined lady who set out to achieve her goal of living and working on a sheep farm. Fair play to her for that. It's just s shame she's dragged their children into the whole tv and media thing and seems to be more focussed on that now than the actual farming. And I really hope she married Clive for love and not just as a ticket into tenant farming.

Her mother was I think.
