How to get copies of GCSE results from years ago?

nancyclancy123 · 10/06/2022 21:00

I’m applying for a new role at my current workplace.
They haven’t asked for copies, I’ve just listed them on the application site, but I thought it would be handy to have copies in case they do.
I sat my GCSE’s 27 years ago!!

I know people mock those record of achievement folders but I did my GCSE’s pre ROA and needed my certificates not long ago. Couldn’t find them anywhere, had I had a ROA folder they might have been safe and secure!!!! I bought my kids a similar folder and have drilled it in to them that EVERYTHING goes in there!

luckily the qualification I needed my certificates for were happy to accept a copy of the statement of results from my school, they still had the records from 1990, but I’ll probably get the certificates ready for graduation in case they don’t let me qualify without them.

@xoxFulhamMUMMY was that aimed at me? He was wanting to retrain as a teacher. Telling them to “fuck off” apparently didn’t work 🙄

I paid £8 for my replacement statements of results. Doing a whole new course and sitting the exam would be £200+ at least.

Interest? It isn't a loan.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 10/06/2022 22:31

I needed mine for a uni course and my secondary school still had them on record, I paid £50 for each (only needed Maths and English). Try your school if it still exists.

DP’s school still exists. They don’t have records from the 80s 🤷‍♀️

What utter nonsense! One of my highers doesn't even exist anymore so how could I re-sit the bloody thing!

I've had to have mine replaced twice & I sat exams 1994-1996.

You just contact the relevant exam authority & request them. I think I paid about £35 the last time, that was in 2015 & the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

I'd rather pay the money than re-sit higher English supposing they offered it for free! I couldn't possibly endure another year of An Inspector Calls & The Crucible

Will they accept level 2 functional skills maths and English as equivalent qualifications?

@Ithinkitsadoughnut I was thinking exactly the same thing! I’m a bit baffled by the seriousness on this thread…

You mean you didn't keep your Record of Achievement up to date and keep it in a safe place for moments like this??? That was drilled into us in the mid 90s, you must keep your ROA up to date to show your prospective employers 🤣

Still have mine full of GCSE and A-Level certificates as well as a few work related ones. Everything is still in mint condition! 😂

Post a website that states you have to resit. Go on, we are waiting.

Firstly, it's UCAS which goes with the UK Government website someone else posted in this thread.

Secondly, it's not anecdotal evidence as it describes the literal process for acquiring lost certificates from various exam boards for each part of the UK.

Thirdly, anything you say without evidence can be dismissed without evidence also.

And, fortunately for me, I do not need to resit a thing as I've still got all my certificates! 😉 😃
