Please please, Tory party, ditch this self obsessed liar, and let’s get a leader who at least knows what the word ‘truth’ means

OP posts:
Jott · 06/06/2022 12:48

I think he'll win by the skin of his teeth, there'll be a raft of resignations and cabinet reshuffles which will destabilise the government even more. He will then call an autumn General Election because its a win-win situation for him - he wins the Election and stays on as PM with "the peoples mandate to lead" or he loses but also takes down everyone who moved against him while he swans off to the lucrative after dinner speech circuit/tell all book deal.

Entirely possible @Jott!

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/06/2022 12:49

We would just get another awful tory though.

Could you imagine Priti Patel? She'd have everyone deported 😄

TinaYouFatLard · 06/06/2022 12:49

Who??

balalake · 06/06/2022 13:19

I wish but expect Mr Johnson to survive. I hope every single MP who supports him loses their seat at the next general election.

MunchMunch · 06/06/2022 17:10

Will the results of the vote be known immediately? I'm sure I remember when it happened to Theresa May we knew pretty much straight away or is it a cast your ballot and we'll count them up later?

MintJulia · 06/06/2022 17:17

I think he'll win but it'll be close. There is no clear and obvious replacement.

It'll mean he knows he will need to go within a year.

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2022 17:18

He’ll win but be really damaged. He’ll be gone by the next election.

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 17:19

OP I agree, Johnson hasn’t got anything close to the integrity or vision to be a PM in these very hard times. We need some serious grown ups in charge who will lead in the interests of ordinary people.

If you haven’t already done this, and you feel this way (and you have a Conservative MP) , then please email your MP to ask them to vote no confidence, without delay. Their voting starts at 6pm-8pm tonight. There are some sample texts and links etc on here from MNers who have done this today:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4563763-to-think-today-is-a-good-day-to-email-your-conservative-mp

The result will be out at 9pm. I am hoping they find their courage.

Reluctantadult · 06/06/2022 17:20

I genuinely don't understand how anyone could say they do have confidence in him.

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 17:21

I don’t think the country can afford to just hang on with Johnson for the next two years and hope for the best- so many people have been suffering massively after covid and now with the cost of living. What will this coming winter be like? It’s very scary.

ItisallPooh · 06/06/2022 17:27

If you have a conservative MP remember to send them an email to tell them how you feel. He isn't "getting the job done" as they keep saying, rather he is just lying and scheming his way to stay in power.

LauderSyme · 06/06/2022 17:41

I think he's more likely to win the vote than not. Apparently Tory MP's don't believe they have an alternative who is more likely to win them the next election than Boris. Which is a pretty terrible indictment on the state of the parliamentary party!

I highly recommend a Youtube channel called A Different Bias, presented by a guy called Phil Moorhouse. His production values are a trifle sketchy but his analyses are intelligent, thoughtful and well-researched.

Ilikewinter · 06/06/2022 17:46

Im in no dount he will win the vote ...... and if he does go who the hell are they going to replace him with, the potential candidates were shown on the news and I honestly wouldnt pick any of them.

I wonder when the police investigation into Starmer will end?

Iloveychildrenandmydoggie · 06/06/2022 17:48

Hope you have emailed your Tory MPs everyone!

123rd · 06/06/2022 17:49

I emailed my shitty mp to request he vote against Johnson ....we can only try

Emmelina · 06/06/2022 17:49

We all live in hope! Unfortunately I don’t see it going through.
our Tory MP will toe the line as always.

dollymuchymuchness · 06/06/2022 17:52

No one wants to be PM at present, as the popularity of the tories is rock bottom. They're happy for Johnson to carry on to the bitter end. At that time they are hoping voters will have forgotten how shit the Conservatives have been and someone will step forward.

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/06/2022 17:53

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2022 17:18

He’ll win but be really damaged. He’ll be gone by the next election.

This is exactly what I'm thinking and I'm hoping he goes at the next election.

Wor · 06/06/2022 17:55

I don’t think the MPs have enough personal integrity to get rid of him. It’s obvious he’s incompetent, always has been. But he flirts with the women and promises the men power and remembers everyone’s name and they all swoon.

I’d be delighted to be wrong but I just don’t think this crop of MPs have the balls to get themselves a proper leader.

If any Tory MPs happen to read this: stop believing Boris when he tells yoh thst he won the last election! It was handed to him by Corbyn, literally anyone could have won against Corbyn.

Mumdiva99 · 06/06/2022 17:56

I want him gone.....bit think he will slip his way through.

With no clear alternative unfortunately he will escape being ousted.

We need a leader with honesty and integrity and they are hard to find.

tobee · 06/06/2022 17:59

Was it in The Times I was reading that senior Tory says if a PM wins by a few votes that the chief whip would give said PM a glass of brandy and a revolver. But Boris Johnson would drink the brandy and shoot the chief?

Funny joke maybe but this is basically Boris Johnson in a nutshell. Yet many Tories MPs are a-ok with that.

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 19:14

I agree completely Wor and I’m a Labour voter. Corbyn has been a disaster for Labour and not having Labour electable for so long and thus leaving the Tories with a total political monopoly for so long has been disastrous for the country. Sad

tobee · 06/06/2022 19:44

Labour has moved forward unfortunately. Just maybe a tiny bit

Mumdiva99 · 06/06/2022 21:06

Disappointed but not suprised.
