Getting there
it is really well located for public transport.

Pudding Mill station is directly outside, but we walked from Stratford which is better connected for us from Waterloo.

It’s only a 20 minute walk along pathways links to the Olympic site I’ll be absolutely fine unless it’s pouring down with rain

Drinking and Eating before
if you want a proper meal pasta go to one of the mini chain restaurants at Westfield and then walk from there.

There is very little outside although there is some street food inside, but I didn’t see that.

Outside there is a pop-up box park type thing with called snoozebox which has got loads of atmosphere and some really tasty Indian street food. Drinks in there also a lot cheaper than inside the little mini foyer outside the Area where wine us £25 and beers £6. They will also give you tap water. The arena sells refillable Abba merch water bottles pictured.

the arena
outside in the foyer everybody is very up for it! You’ll be overcome by the joy of the whole experience. The arena is pop-up and the foyer shows, in the winter it might get quite windy but in the summer it was lovely. Hang around there to soak up the atmosphere. The staff are lovely and the cloakroom is free, but watch out for long queues afterwards to get that so take as little as you can. If you have got dancefloor seat you need to travel pretty light. Security is fast.

seating
unless you have an infirmity GET DANCEFLOOR TICKETS. There’s loads of room and great aircon. The chair people only stood up for the odd song. When we arrived in there about 20 minutes before the show lots of people are sitting on the floor in the dance floor seating finishing drinks and stuff but they soon got up as the vibe increased.

the show
They are rightly strict about phone use, and I saw very little of it. The show will freak you out because it’s so brilliant and even after which are not quite sure what you saw

It’s flawless technically and there is a live band . The lighting is alone is worth a ticket price.
it lasts 90 minutes. There are two sequences where is animations rather than abbatars and in theory you can get drinks then it will be hard to get back if you’re on the Dancefloor seating

afterwards
long queues for the Loos outside but go around the corner to the loos away from the cloakroom. Cloakroom queues were long but moved fast. Merch is ££ but available. then if you’re in a party mood you must go to the Snoozebox. This made our day. Really like being at the best wedding party ever. The staff there said it’s like it EVERY day. Dancing. Singing and laughs.

i think that’s it.

Guys I’m going again next week. I’m wondering if the Snoozebox after party is still happening?

Well it was a couple of weeks ago. There are a couple of nights a week when it isn't.

Thanks for the reply, I think to be honest, I mean the bar/party aspect of it. And also wondering what it’s like if it’s raining or wet because as I remember it most of it was outside

Looking for some advice please… I’m taking my 13 year old in a few weeks and we have the option of getting a train to Euston then making our way to the arena or driving straight to the arena. What would people advise?

We’ll have a few hours spare before the show but not sure what there is to do around the arena (is the shopping centre nearby?) or what the parking is like. Would we be better spending time in central London then getting the tube to the arena?

Cod · 28/11/2023 19:25

Always avoid driving in London, you must be mad to even consider it. The Westfield shopping centre is a brisk 20 minute walk from there and you can easily eat there too.

Rumourhasit1 · 12/12/2023 16:41

Hi planning on getting tickets for my sister and me as Xmas present with an overnight stay in Londo. I'm not sure if to do afternoon show followed by dinner / going out afterwards or do the evening show? TIA

Westfacing · 13/12/2023 09:10

@Rumourhasit1

I'd do the afternoon show then you have the evening to go for dinner - otherwise you have the perennial problem of whether to eat before or after the show! It's only 90 minutes long by the way, if that helps with your planning.

I'm going again next week at my granddaughter's request Smile

VanCleefArpels · 01/01/2024 12:51

Having now been twice - once in a seat and now on the dance floor, I’d say if you are able the experience on the dance floor is so much better. Also avoid the hotel package deals - such bad value, better to book tickets and a good budget hotel separately

ConstitutionHill · 16/01/2024 22:53

Place marking. Going in Feb with a group so booked the dance booth. Googling outfits now!

Vetoncall · 17/01/2024 00:46

I'm going in February as well, can't wait! This thread has been really helpful.

Allybally39 · 24/01/2024 18:52

Would you advise the dance floor with a 6 year old

JaneIves · 24/01/2024 19:11

@Allybally39 I think you have to be over 14 years old for dancefloor tickets. I could be wrong, but it should tell you on the website.
It can get very crowded, so unless on shoulders the whole time which would be annoying for others, I don't think a 6 year old would benefit.

Allybally39 · 24/01/2024 19:14

That makes sense thanks. Would rather go without him 🙈 but we are in London for a family trip so trying to decide if I take him or have to arrange another trip x

Cod · 24/01/2024 20:01

No way with a 6 year old. You’d be mad

I was thinking of taking my dad who likes abba, but my late mum was a fan. Slightly worried about him so just wanted to check if it’s too cramped or loud or anything? I think he will like it but he is 78 so just wanted to check…. If anyone had a view as not been to the arena before either. Otherwise can just go with my friends….

At 78 your dad's not old - ABBA are all in their 70s! Smile

Loads of older people there - he will be fine as long as you are in the seated area rather than the dance floor

If he has any mobility problems you can book accessible seats

Amazing thank you. I thought as much but some friends said it may not be appropriate. he is ok with mobility but does struggle with very cramped seats so will try and book on an end of a row or something. Really trying to plan fun things to have in the diary as its tough after losing my mum! Will be booking then.... thanks again

Not cramped at all (even the dance floor seems fine - they seem to be sensible with numbers). We were in the front row of seats though, to the right of the stage, plenty of room and legroom in front. Pudding Mill Lane DLR is literally right next to the stadium.

KeeeeeepDancing · 17/02/2024 17:32

As theatres go it is the most modern, purpose built. No steps til the seating, all ramps. And directly connected to the DLR/ tube (I can't recall which)

Every seat has a good view.
I actually think it's a game changer for theatres. Everyone else is stuck in Victorian old buildings designed to be music halls. Not the hitech world we are in now.

It's going to take a while for others to catch up, abba built an entirely new IT system to do what they wanted, as it didn't exist!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/02/2024 17:39

DLR Pudding Mill Lane station though DD and I walked from Stratford when we went in Dec ( problems on the DLR) took us maybe 15 minutes . We stuck to the main road for safety and lighting .
On the way home the DLR was fine from PML .

We've been tonight, it was amazing. We went in the seats as we are all very short and thought the dance floor might not be a great view but we did feel too far away and hardly anyone stood up to dance so we felt we couldn't because of blocking the view of those sitting behind us. Having said that, we probably got a better perspective on the lightshow which was incredible. Planning to go again and get dancefloor tickets, it is an absolutely fantastic show.

I’m v short and made sure I was near the front on the dance floor and it was fine. It was my second time and it was way better than the seats although as you say a tiny bit of the whole lighting show experience was lost

Romeiswheretheheartis · 24/02/2024 10:12

I'm going for the second time next week and I'm even more excited than I was the first time. Dance floor both times. I remember it being quite hot and wishing I'd left my coat in a locker? Cloakroom? - can't remember what they have - instead of having to hold it, so will do that this time.

I'm glad you were thoughtful enough not to stand up and dance in the seating area! It really spoils it for those behind you, who are unable to stand for any length of time.

There is encouragement to stand and dance for the last song though, which is fair enough.
