I'm thinking of going down & wondering what time to arrive to bag a view. Any ideas?

We were there yesterday and it was hell for anyone who hates crowds, loads of people watching the sound checks and people in tents by the mall. Lots of what looked like pimms stands in st James park. Green park had lots of screened off areas. There's a weird fake tree.

in 2012 they came in over the Tower of London as we were at end event there

Might be too late but I managed to book a table for dinner tonight at Pizza Express by southbank. So it's worth checking to see if you can book a table at a restaurant to save from queueing up for a long time. Everywhere will be packed this weekend.

It's not my thread but I wanted to thank everyone for their advice. I feel ashamed to admit we bailed out but now on TV, beyond the crowds at the barricades inxan see clear paths and people milling around.

If anyone is planning to go to central London over the weekend, do check travel information first. Network Rail have closed my local rail line in the London suburbs for the whole weekend (we have no tubes here).
