Yesterday's had a massive clue (unredacted ups and downs in a table) which if you know a little bit of particle physics helped narrow it down to the right subject area.

Thats what I picked up on - that had be quarks which led to the title.

I am 100 words in and have no idea what this is. I'm just throwing words around to see what sticks. I can see that there are clues in the text if you know how to read them. I don't. Alas.

Ah, yes, sorry, what I mean by "know how to read them" is that I haven't found the import of that clue, rather than not seeing it. I know what it means, but it doesn't help me.

I thought of spin when I saw the ups and downs in the text, but that wasn't the right number of letters and got me thinking on the right lines.

Got there eventually. Not surprised the italics didn't help me.
