Has anyone used weight-loss injections? Did they work?

I am severely overweight and have been for a few years now since youngest DC was born. Keep yo-yo dieting, and losing a bit then regaining. I have started getting ads for Saxenda injections. Has anyone tried them? Did they work? Would really appreciate any feedback. Thank you

@Attwoodsladyfriend because I wanted to share a different view point? If you think I’m a troll trust me I’ve been doing other things since your last post

Movinghouseatlast · 03/06/2022 17:01

I really don't understand how a standoffish attitude causes the obesity crisis. What does that mean?

Catslovepies · 03/06/2022 17:06

@TonyBlairsLover would you go into any other thread where people with a medical condition were discussing medication options and just blithely state you "don't believe in" medication for their condition? A condition you don't have and doesn't affect you, and offering absolutely no knowledge or reason for your opinion? Of course not because it would be very rude and ignorant. So are you rude and ignorant, a troll, or just not too bright? Because I can't think of any other reason for your post. No one is interested in your uninformed opinion on this subject!

And before you go on to state that obesity isn't a medical condition, please take the time to educate yourself www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/obesity/symptoms-causes/syc-20375742#:~:text=Overview,blood%20pressure%20and%20certain%20cancers.

Is there a difference in efficacy between the weekly and daily variety?

CornishGem1975 · 03/06/2022 17:20

Really intrigued by this so will go back and read the full thread. I only want to lose about a stone but the hunger I get is a killer so anything to suppress that is good.

clippety clop · 03/06/2022 17:37

I'm very interested in this. I'm 53 and 18 stone. I've been accepted onto tier 3 of the nhs prior to tier 4 surgery.

I don't really want surgery. I have to lose 16lb in six months and I'm at the 6 week stage and finding it impossible.

I've fibromyalgia, under active thyroid and other health conditions.

What are the best and worst things about the injections/tablets.

Is one any better than another?

ALongHardWinter · 03/06/2022 18:05

Peridot1 Thank you,I will check those out.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 03/06/2022 18:20

@clippety clop

I think thyroid issues mean it's a no go unfortunately. Maybe discuss with gp though

Penguinsmum · 03/06/2022 18:36

This has been so interesting. Can anyone recommend the online doctor / pharmacy they got it from please? 🙂 So many when I google and don't know if they are legit!

I don't know but I'm dying to know if @Attwoodsladyfriend was aware that she'd single handedly caused the obesity crisis with her attitude?

I mean if she could just be a bit less standoffish and we'd all get thin, that would be brilliant! 🤓

LisaSimpson77 · 03/06/2022 18:43

Medical weight loss 4 you.
They also have quite a busy Facebook group called "Wegovy/ozempic weight loss support group" and you can get good advice and individual stories on it.

Penguinsmum · 03/06/2022 18:45

@lisasimpson77 thanks 🙂

DewDropsonKittens · 03/06/2022 20:00

@clippety clop
I have the same issues as you and I have just finished my first week on Saxenda.
I am under the specialists at the tier 3 weight management team and they've confirmed that Saxenda is safe for me to use.

@Penguinsmum
I purchased from boots online. Welcome20 gets you £30 off and 600 boots points

DewDropsonKittens · 03/06/2022 20:03

@TonyBlairsLover Attitudes like yours are the reason so many people with obesity feel like substandard citizens. There is absolutely no chance that you've suffered the pain of a disorder that impacts your mental health in the same way weight does on a person who does everything they can to be a healthier version of themselves with no success.

If you had, you wouldn't come on to a thread and be so disgusting.

Harridan1981 · 03/06/2022 21:13

How long does each pen last?

DewDropsonKittens · 03/06/2022 21:30

@Harridan1981 Pen 1 lasts around 17 days and then each pen lasts 6 days if you follow the incremental increases.

However, a lot of people stay on the lower doses whilst losing their main weight goals and then maintain at the higher dose whilst levelling out calorie intake etc

Thankyou - I’m trying hard since I read that message. I smiled earlier at next door lady, she’s a bit portly and never lost the baby weight and she’s just called round to say that since she saw me, she’s dropped half a stone. <preen>

Attwoodsladyfriend · 03/06/2022 22:07

Just to add, Ozempic/Wegovy has better results long term for weight loss presumably because of the long acting nature of the molecule and the increased compliance as it’s only weekly.

DesertCacti · 04/06/2022 02:41

It does seem like Ozempic is better so I am going to try that one I think. Are the injections very painful? I am a bit squeamish!

Honestly, I originally ordered the tablets because I thought I'd struggle to inject myself. I got sent the pen and decided to give it a go.
The needle is tiny (4mm) goes into a non-sensitive fatty part of you (I have plenty to choose from!!) and doesn't hurt at all.
It's much less of an issue than you think it will be.

DesertCacti · 05/06/2022 20:58

Hi again
Where can I buy Ozempic? I would prefer that as only 1 injection a week, I think? Thanks 😊

Attwoodsladyfriend · 06/06/2022 00:41

I use MyBMI

ticktock19 · 07/06/2022 12:53

I got ozempic from Medical Weightloss 4 U, they were very helpful and my pens were delivered very swiftly. I will say that I've been on Saxenda since February and have lost 21lbs which I was very pleased with. After being on the full dose for some time then I decided to move to ozempic as the price was much better.

DesertCacti · 14/06/2022 15:23

Quick update and thanks again for all the comments. I bought the Ozempic because I am so squeamish. First injection was last Weds. Felt quite nauseous the following day and the one after. Didn't notice any discernable difference but was away at the weekend so busier than usual. Then I realised I wasn't bingeing like I usually do. I was able to resist an ice-cream, didn't buy 2 croissants when I went for a coffee etc. Today I took my DCs to McDonald's (please no hating, they are autistic and it is the only place they will eat at when we go out) and I managed to have a few chips, and a few sips of milkshake. Previously I would have been completely unable to do this and would have hoovered up all the leftovers. So I am really really pleased! Not sure how much is psychosomatic with a starting dose but even if it is a placebo affect, I am still eating much less ❤
