Change my mind

OP posts:
Bubbles1st · 30/05/2022 20:08

Between immediate family I'm ok with them but beyond that I won't try and change your mind.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 30/05/2022 20:10

I totally agree… and I don’t even like how so many different foods are mixed on them. Vom! Now a lovely cheeseboard with figs, grapes, crackers and chutney and you’re talking …

Regularsizedrudy · 30/05/2022 20:10

Isn’t this what most of mn thinks? Generally on here anything where you might come in contact with a single germ is oh so repulsive

DelilahBucket · 30/05/2022 20:10

I would share it with my household only and a small group of particular family members, but beyond that, nope. Gross!

SausageinaBun · 30/05/2022 20:12

I'm not into mixing food, so they are definitely not to my taste. I haven't seen one in real life. Who actually gets them? Is it some sort of class division?

Readeatcake · 30/05/2022 20:15

Can't really see a difference to a normal buffet. Many people grabbing at communal food plates. Pork pie left out to go warm.

Coughee · 30/05/2022 20:16

I'm not remotely germaphobic but they don't appeal to me tbh. They just look like a big weird mess. They don't seem an improvement on a buffet, quite the opposite.

Smartiepants79 · 30/05/2022 20:18

Depends who’s made it and who I’m eating it with.

Yeah I'd agree.
I'd say this is a pretty common opinion OP.

I'm glad it's not just me thinking that. I'm guessing that grazing food is fancier than a cheese sarnie and a soggy sausage roll.

This.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 30/05/2022 20:31

Everyone normal thinks the same, it's not unique to you.

SabrePrattler · 30/05/2022 20:32

Nah. Totally mainstream opinion.

Feelingoktoday · 30/05/2022 20:35

Too much food, squashed together, over lapping. I think it looks gross and greedy.

Happierthanever91 · 30/05/2022 20:35

Agreed. I hate sharing food full stop. I went for a meal with my DP and in laws and everyone was trying food from each other's plates and offering me to do the same. Absolute hard pass from me thanks

saraclara · 30/05/2022 20:36

The fact that there are no plates and everything is just plonked on the table, means that, however good it looks when first arranged, it looks a hot mess and completely unappetising once half a dozen people have attacked it (never mind a couple of dozen).

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 30/05/2022 20:37

Synonymous with the insta generation, looks good but scratch the surface and it is a leaking mess of chaos, contamination and no substance.

Gonetogetacoffee · 30/05/2022 20:38

I don't know what this is

CharlotteSt · 30/05/2022 20:39

DH and I had one for Valentines Day during lockdown which we enjoyed.

Not sure I'd want to share with more people as it would be chaos with everything getting all mixed up. Nasty.

GuyFawkesDay · 30/05/2022 20:41

Grim.
Meat next to fruit etc.

Bleurgh.

Arnaquer · 30/05/2022 20:43

I've had
2 for small family parties by outside caterers.
All very clean with a grease proof paper layer on the table. Majority of items in plates or in baskets and looked so pretty. I like them.

MiddleNameJane · 30/05/2022 20:44

I disagree that this is an unpopular opinion.

Absolutely this!

GreatCuppa · 30/05/2022 20:47

I saw one where the coleslaw was dumped on the table. Gross.

mdinbc · 30/05/2022 20:50

Explain what this is to non-Brits?
