I want to get the garden sorted and it’s either mizzly or cold wind …it’s just not been that nice…

Agree totally, We have barely been able to sit out, and when it is dry enough to its not exactly warm! I am on South Yorkshire and the forecast for this week is so wet and depressing

actiongirl1978 · 30/05/2022 09:24

It's been amazing since Easter in the South. We don't sit in the garden generally apart from our Saturday night drink with nibbles, but I do like walking around a couple of times a day to look at my plants.

Before that though spring was very cold and dry and unpleasant.

MyOtherProfile · 30/05/2022 09:26

We have had some lovely days and some dull but not freezing days so we have done our usual stuff and a couple of BBQs. I don't mind if it's not hot and sunny so long as it's not wet.

AnyFucker · 30/05/2022 09:29

Just had the odd unsustained nice day here in the NW

Rubbish start to the summer, tbh. May is generally a lot nicer than this. Only 3 weeks to the longest day !

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/05/2022 09:31

I’m in South Yorkshire too. It’s been great weather.

WreckTangled · 30/05/2022 09:31

I'm in the south and think we've had about three days where I've managed to sit in the garden in the day. It was 4° when I left the house this morning. Fed up of being cold.

buckleten · 30/05/2022 09:49

I think it's been great - Easter was fantastic, and apart from a couple of colder and rainy days it has been lovely since then, in the south east.

JudgeRindersMinder · 30/05/2022 09:53

East coast of Scotland here and I’m very much a fair weather gardener! It’s been absolutely rubbish here for weeks-it’s either been heavy, and I mean BIBLICAL heavy rain, or when it’s been sunny there’s been a cold wind, so not much gardening being done here

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/05/2022 10:24

I really don’t understand those who say it’s been fine! Perceptions are very different. I’m in the south and a cold wind has been a feature all year, even when the sun has been out. Today it’s grey and very cold.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/05/2022 10:26

NW coast. Great weather here for much of the month. Raining this morning but I’m glad, the soil is bone dry.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/05/2022 10:31

It’s not about perceptions though. It’s about what’s happening.

Evety day the weather person has said it’s going to be crap. But neatly every afternoon the sun has been out, despite their predictions. I’ve got loads of washing dry , and said to Dh yesterday that this has been the best May for ages.

iIts cold and rainy today though

YorkieTheRabbit · 30/05/2022 10:32

Im in Yorkshire, it was really dry in April and early May, some warm days but mainly around normal temperatures for the time of year. Raining and quite breezy today. I’ve got loads of stuff to plant out but can’t get it done today and it’s not looking any better for the next few days.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/05/2022 10:32

Yes, bone dry soil. We’ve had to keep constantly watering.

Zazdar · 30/05/2022 10:34

I really don’t understand those who say it’s been fine!

I’m the opposite. It hasn’t been perfect (i.e. 30 degrees) but overall it hasn’t been that bad.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/05/2022 10:38

I'm in south west and have been out in the garden lots, we've had miserable days but some really nice days in between.

Mochudubh · 30/05/2022 10:45

Also NE Scotland. My garden is an absolute tip. I've probably taken 5-6 days leave in the last couple of months to try and get it sorted but it always ends up either too wet, too windy or just too damn cold to get anything done.

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 30/05/2022 10:48

West of Scotland here and it has been awful. I've just turned the heating on its so cold. We have had the odd sunny day but usually it has come with freezing cold winds. We are usually in the garden non stop April-September but hardly been out so far this year.

Bramshott · 30/05/2022 10:48

There was definitely a period in April when all the lovely weather came midweek while I was working and then the weekends were miserable! It's been a bit better in the past few weeks though, at least here in the South.

Pixiedust1234 · 30/05/2022 10:49

I'm the same as OP. Poor garden is overgrown. I'm in the east midlands.

Monkeybutt1 · 30/05/2022 10:55

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/05/2022 09:31

I’m in South Yorkshire too. It’s been great weather.

Where are you, I'm moving there! 😂We've had the odd sunny day but it's been really windy. The past few days it's cloudy, showers, windy.

nearlyspringyay · 30/05/2022 10:59

SE London. We had a decent week a few weeks ago and it's been crap since. Put the heating on last night.

FrownedUpon · 30/05/2022 11:00

SE and been out in the garden quite a lot. Grey & miserable today though.

AlisonDonut · 30/05/2022 11:01

We moved to France because we were so fed up of British weather, and the price of houses with a huge garden, and it's too hot here!

starlingdarling · 30/05/2022 11:30

I'm further south in Bedfordshire and we've had some lovely sunny days since Late March and no frosts. It's not exactly warm in the shade but nice and warm in the sun. The weather has only just turned and gotten a bit cold and grey (with some sunny spells) in the last week or so.

icelolly12 · 30/05/2022 11:37

Agree- it's been fairly dry (until today) but just not warm and sunny. Cloudy and chilly. This is more like April weather and we're almost in June! Hoping for a sunny warm glorious June but I'm not holding my breath
