Anyone else ill? Horrid summer cough and cold.

After a pretty good innings health wise, I've developed a horrid cough and cold (negative LFT)

Thankfully no major plans but God I feel horrid. Even took myself for an afternoon nap.

Anyone else? Misery loves company and all that.

It's been going round work, and I brought it home just in time for the rest of my family to hit peak coughing as half-term began.

I had such sore throat, sore ribs and banging headache, all from the cough. Commiserations.

Proud2care · 29/05/2022 20:20

My teenage DC has, they've been quite poorly. Started off feeling sick, sore throat, stomach ache then runny nose and cough. Tested just to see as they've never had covid but test is negative.

FieryPitOfMordor · 29/05/2022 20:21

I have this. It’s horrible - genuinely thought it was Covid but negative LFT.

Yes I’ve got a horrible cough as have the kids. Back and chest hurt from the constant coughing. Going on holiday on Wednesday so hoping it goes by then.

YnysMonCrone · 29/05/2022 20:22

Yes, sore throat, headache, hit and cold. Negative Lft but just so tired

user3193 · 29/05/2022 20:23

Yes. My cough is on par with how bad my cough was when I had Covid. Im negative though!

disappointed101 · 29/05/2022 20:25

Yes me. What is it? Started with scratchy throat and tummy cramps and feeling like I was going to vomit, blood taste in mouth, sporadic tickle cough, now blocked and runny nose and sneezing. 3x - lateral flows.

This is so odd! I've got stomach cramps with it too but until you have just said it I hadn't tied the two together!

Sorry to hear others are suffering and I hope it doesn't ruin anyones plans.

I'm working (from home) Mon-Weds and we'd not made any concrete plans for the jubilee so we can take it easy.

9yo started Thursday, me yesterday, 7yo today. Just the 4yo and Dad to go 🙄

Kids seem mild enough but I feel like a sack of shit. I'm exhausted and have to keep sitting down between jobs [I'm on my own today but have only been doing the essentials]. My ears are blocked, nose is dripping, cough is dry and painful.

I ordered a MacD for dinner and felt so poorly I didn't even eat my hamburger and fries.

Hoping I am a bit better tomorrow as I'm running several meetings, I can pass them over to a colleague if I absolutely have to but I still heed to prep and be on the my A game.

I'm on day 8 of antibiotics for tonsillitis, my throat looked like something off an episode of pimple poppers
Thankfully it's clearing now as I felt awful

Huge sympathies. I had tonsillitis once and it was honestly horrendous. Was over the festive period that had a Mon / Tues BH so it was day 5/6 when I finally saw the GP. I cried to her. Worst thing was is she didn't think it was the type of tonsillitis that needed AB (she gave me some anyway as I was such a mess!)

I had never felt so poorly. Feel better soon.

It's not fun, I've had it maybe 25 times now
Thankfully I open my mouth, the doctors looks at my throat and can't type a prescription fast enough Grin
Think some people just think it's a sore throat but it can be awful

Crunchymum · 29/05/2022 21:30

Can you not have them removed @MrOllivander ? It sounds awful. At least you have a sympathetic GP.

To those who mention stomach issues. Yep I had an upset tummy Friday AM (diarrhoea but no vomiting) and then sore throat from Friday evening. Felt okay yesterday but it's kicked in now and I'm rough as anything today.

And I can’t sleep as I just had a coughing fit that gave me a headache.

Flatandhappy · 30/05/2022 01:18

I had my second COVID booster on Saturday and have felt so ill since. I slept most of yesterday and vomited up anything I tried to eat. Have a horrible headache but am afraid to take paracetamol in case I vomit. Looking after 2yo granddaughter today and can barely make it off the sofa 😐 Desperately waiting for someone else to come home to take over.

disappointed101 · 30/05/2022 01:22

@Flatandhappy so sorry. I can’t believe you looked after a 2 year old:( I remember having flu with a baby and toddler and it was so grim. I hope it passes for you. The best thing I’ve discovered is Lemsip max cold and flu medicine. Tastes like shit but helps with symptoms. Maybe I should go and get some.

eurochick · 30/05/2022 01:37

I have it too. I'm awake now because I can't stop coughing. 😡😡😡

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/05/2022 01:49

Second cold so far, COVID seems to avoid me like the plague. Negative lft, still the only 1 at work who has not had COVID.

popandchoc · 30/05/2022 07:27

My 11 year old is coughing loads last couple of days . Testing negative and last had covid in March .

Hathertonhariden · 30/05/2022 07:42

I had those symptoms and started testing positive for Covid after 5 days of it.

Seaweasel · 30/05/2022 07:47

Yes, me too. I had the cold then cough 3 weeks then saw GP and got antibiotics for a chest infection. Banjaxed my pelvic floor. Just recovering now, so had it most of May. Negative LFT all the way.

lollipoprainbow · 30/05/2022 07:51

Yes! It came on so fast, usually you can tell when you're getting a cold but I was fine all day yesterday then starting sneezing late afternoon, now a full blown cold and sore throat, no cough though.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2022 07:55

I had this earlier in May. Several negative LFTs. I did treat it as Covid insofar as I avoided people and made DD get essential groceries on her way home from school. It took at least a fortnight, maybe more, for the cough to go completely.

I think I had the same thing in January 2020.

watcherintherye · 30/05/2022 08:15

Yes, it might be worth testing again. I woke up feeling really ill a couple of weeks back - sore throat, temperature, headache, and heavy cold symptoms, which I thought it was, as my lft was negative. I was being extra cautious because dc’s A Levels have started, and did another lft the next day which showed a strong positive within a minute, so no doubt! Continued to test positive days 5 - 8, so not even an early release!

Crunchymum · 30/05/2022 08:18

I'll continue to LFT us, just in case. All negative today.

Oldest seems fine now, youngest has touch wood been unaffected but middle DC has a hacking cough. She is my 'coughy' child though. She seems alright otherwise.

I'm still feeling like crap. Up for an hour and feel like I need to go back to bed already.

Keep well everyone.
