Is there a food you’ve always hated but have suddenly come to like?

I hate soup. All soup. Every flavour. Always have done.

And yet for the last 2 weeks I’ve eaten nothing but pea and ham soup! I had Covid and the only thing I felt like eating was this, and now it’s all I eat and I can’t stop! It’s most strange.

Is there anything you’ve come to love that you’ve always disliked?

Prawns. I only like the huge ones. I really enjoy two or three then I am done. Only started eating them in my late thirties

Sweet and sour sauce. Hated it. Craved it when pregnant now it's one of my favourites.

Also truffle - not the chocolate , I was convinced I didn't like it. I'm obsessed now. Truffle honey, crisp, salt, cheese, oil.

No one else in my family and friends group can stand it.

Never like meat and still can't stomach the idea of it.
Hated coriander but now quite enjoy it. Same with nuts in chocolate. Like them now!!

Coriander. I thought I had that gene that makes it taste like washing up liquid. I would pick it out of everything. Not sure when it changed but I love it now amd cover any Mexican food in a big layer of it!

Is that a thing? Sone people think it tastes like washing up liquid? I've never heard of that?

Is it like Dorian fruit when some people say it smells like death and others love it as it doesn't smell like that at all to them?

Corn on the cob. I bloody love it now and can't get enough.

Capers! Love them in salads now, hated them for years

Peanut butter. No go for 40 years then just decided to start eating it. Weird!

Same.

I used to hate olives but somewhere/somehow I tried those Kalamata ones and really enjoyed them. Dont have them too often but when I do they are lovely.

On the opposite side of that, covid ruined coffee for me 2 years ago. It used to be my favourite fuel source!

Me too!! Although it’s only been a month for me. Starbucks profits will down and I’m saving a fortune but I miss it!

Probably for another thread, but has the reverse happened and you can no longer eat, or drink, something?

I recently, well past couple of years, went off tea, the sort you usually add milk to. I still like the herbal kind.

For me it’s orange juice. Except the stuff made straight from oranges. It tastes weirdly salty now. Recently tried again with some M&S stuff but still tasted bad to me.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 28/05/2022 22:24

For years I could never stomach pork, (except bacon and sausage) only in the last 10 years I’ve grown to really like it.

Delatron · 28/05/2022 23:06

It is a thing that a certain percentage of the population have a gene that makes coriander taste like soap.

I’m not fussy about anything but can’t bear coriander... I can’t have anything with it in.

ScarierThanBoo · 17/12/2022 01:13

@Bakedpotatoesfortea I'm so sorry that coffee was taken from you. The absolute bastards!!! I pray that one day your love will return. I'm genuinely horrified for you 😂

Giggorata · 17/12/2022 08:16

Cream when I was young but can't get enough of it now, sadly for my waistline.
Mustard, hated it for years but suddenly, one day recently, decided to try it in a ham sarnie and now it would be disappointing without.

I’ve gone off chocolate, for heaven's sake. What is the matter with me?

BrewandBiscuit · 17/12/2022 08:19

Tuna. Always hated the smell and thought it was cat food only but this year I’ve had a couple of tuna Mayo jacket potatoes and really enjoyed it!
