So happy about Australian election result

Australia has just thrown out its tired, misogynistic, racist and corrupt government and elected a Labour Greens coalition with an agenda for action on climate, social cohesion and implementation of the First Nations Uluru statement.
This is huge. It happened despite a Murdoch dominated press. Our new Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, was brought up in public housing by a single mother with a disability. Finally a new era. Lot of celebration at our house!

Albo, the new PM, before being sworn in this morning:

“It’s a big day in my life. But a big day for the country, when we change the government,” he said.

“I want to lead a government that has the same sentiment of optimism and hope that I think defines the Australian people. I want to be positive.

“I want to channel the opportunity that we have to shape change so that we bring people with us on the journey of change.

“I want to bring the country together, and the new government starts today.”

It's a big change from the old: "I don't hold a hose, mate."

It now looks like Labor will get a majority but even if they don't or lose a couple of by-elections in the upcoming months I think they are more likely to work with the Independents who will vote on each piece of legislation on its merits rather than tie themselves to the Greens who they have fundamental differences with on major policies.
This being Australian politics , Albanese's biggest concern will be that as soon as there is a dip in his popularity or economic issues there will be someone from his own party ready to knife him in the back. A lot of the shadow cabinet were out front during the election campaign and getting a public profile while he was laid up with Covid

I think it's a pretty tight team. So many competent people who have been waiting a long time for this opportunity.
It was great to see the Aboriginal and TSI flags with the Australian flag in the briefing room. Powerful symbol of inclusion.

Sportsbet is tipping Labor will win again in three years time! That would be nice.

It is nice to wake up knowing that Morrison and his terrible crew are out of our lives. They consistently treated women as a kind of fringe minority who could be ignored, forgetting that we have 51% of the vote.

I'm ecstatic.

The Lib Nats had years in government and did nothing. They abandoned the states during the worst of covid times. Corrupt ministers whose treatment of women in Parliament House was appalling. Mismanagement of the vaccine rollout. Horrific neglect of the age care sector. Stalling on the Uluṟu statement for years. Ignoring climate change - the country either burning or drowning.Pork barreling, sports rorts, a rapist ... that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Labor, the Greens and the independents will be a breath of fresh air.

There are no nuances. The bigger picture is all that really matters. And we have a two party duopoly here in the UK, same as you do in Australia. So it's essentially the same setup in both the UK and Australia. I used to believe that voting for the other party could make a difference, but I'm older and wiser now. I got red-pilled, my eyes were opened, and I realised that most politics is just theatre, and you'll always get the same, because the same people pull the strings of both main parties. And because I know how the system works, I can say with almost 100% certainty that Australians will be a lot poorer by the time the next election comes. Same applies to the entire West. Everyone is going to get a lot poorer, because they keep voting for the same puppets without having realised that the entire system is rigged against them.

Mate, you really don't know anything about Australian politics do you? We don't have a duopoly -- the right only governs as a coalition of the Liberal (who are anything but) and National parties. And believe me, they're very definitely different parties.

We also have preferential voting and an elected upper house with a sizable number of independents and minor parties. They generally hold the balance of power and help "keep the bastards honest".
