Hi all,

If you’ve received a renewed passport back recently, how long did it take?

I’m worrying about our upcoming holiday.

Thank you

Ours took 14 days for renewal, but I think that's not generally the case at the moment

dementedpixie · 21/05/2022 21:29

Ds's renewal took 3 weeks

Chrestomanci3 · 21/05/2022 21:32

Two child renewals took less than 2 weeks and one adult renewal took 4 weeks - all applivations done online at the same time, old passports sent via Bootle office.

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 21/05/2022 21:32

About 3 weeks for my daughter (digital application).

RoseLavenderBlue · 21/05/2022 21:33

Did Ds renewal online on 28 April, received on 16 May. Pretty good, I think.

WombatNo12 · 21/05/2022 21:35

3 weeks, came back yesterday. Online application.

Sponge19 · 21/05/2022 21:37

Ah thanks all. These are all so much faster than I’d anticipated

I countersigned 2 kids passports on 29th April, one kids and 1 adults came back yesterday so my friend said. Just waiting in 2nd kids one but has had a notification that it's being printed. So pretty good.

DoINeedToDoThis · 21/05/2022 21:44

This was for my son's renewal. I posted the old passport "signed for" on 28th April and when I checked they had actually signed for it on the 29th, but they didn't update the tracker until 11th May. Received it on 18th May.

Child renewal, ID confirmed 7 May, old passport received 11 May, new passport arrived 19 May. Did everything online. I was amazed to be honest!

DrDreReturns · 21/05/2022 21:49

My sons has just come back. It took three weeks. The Liverpool office processed it. Pretty good considering I was told it could take ten weeks.

Littleone07 · 21/05/2022 21:51

I submitted my renewal application on 21st March and am still waiting.

CaveMum · 21/05/2022 21:51

Our adult renewals were turned around in about 3 weeks.

Unfortunately we’re still waiting on the DC’s first passports. Applied at the same time as adult renewals (20 March) and haven’t had an update since 7 April, so 9 weeks and counting so far 😤

Whynotnowbaby · 21/05/2022 21:52

Five weeks, we live overseas so it may be a bit different. Most frustrating thing was that they kept telling me to send it when I already had. Royal Mail had no contact number I could call from abroad so I had to get my mum to do it, they said their tracker doesn’t work for passports but it would have been delivered- turned our they were right, but I was anxious!

Macaroni1924 · 21/05/2022 21:52

2 adult and one child all returned in just over 3 weeks. 2 went to one address in Bootle and one went to another but still all back within 3 consecutive days.

PrincessesRUs · 21/05/2022 21:52

I panicked due to recent news and then it came back in under two weeks!

SewingSwimmer · 21/05/2022 21:55

Still waiting at 8wks Liverpool office, so annoying as it was a renewal of child’s passport with zero changes in addresss etc and child still looked like photo just older ffs!

maturestudent74 · 21/05/2022 21:56

Still waiting since beginning of April

SSDDagain · 21/05/2022 21:59

Online application for a renewal.
Applied 5th May.
Took 2 days to post out old passport.
Old passport received 11th May.
New passport arrived 18th May.
No fast track, just bog standard online renewal.
So 13 days all in.

Toottooot · 21/05/2022 22:01

Less than 2 weeks - online application processed by the Bootle office. This was with the last week.

Sponge19 · 22/05/2022 07:18

We have 13 weeks until we go so I think I can stop worrying! The news headlines were making me so anxious

About 2 weeks adult online renewal

Mumoftwoinprimary · 22/05/2022 08:41

Dd - expired over a year ago - submitted online - back in about 3 weeks.

Dh - not expired (but we were worried about the 10th are thing) - back in less than 3 weeks.

Dd’s was submitted mid April. Dh’s was submitted early May. (And came back on Friday so very up to date info!)

Submitting online seems to help. Plus make sure you post off the old passport immediately. For dd’s we got it tracked but not signed. For dh’s we were worried as only had 13 weeks until the holiday so got it tracked and signed.

Following the “what is happening with my passport” thing - the thing that seemed to take the time was waiting for them to accept “old passport received”. We were starting to panic with dd’s as they claimed they hadn’t received it but they had 2 weeks beforehand! Hence getting the signature with dh’s to make sure. Once they accepted that they had got the old passport it was less than a week until we were holding the new passport.

I am imagining an enormous pile of old passports and people randomly selecting ones to deal with.

Apparently the passport office has taken on lots of extra staff to speed things up!

YouWhatLove · 22/05/2022 08:46

I sent mine off over 3 weeks ago and they haven’t even updated it to confirm that they’ve received my old passport yet, despite me immediately sending it recorded delivery and it being signed
for. When I’ve chased they’ve said they can’t investigate individual cases until it’s been at least 6 weeks and to expect it to take 10 weeks. If it takes that long I’ll miss my summer holiday ☹️

Sugarcube84 · 22/05/2022 08:47

2 kids renewals one needed photo checking and took 2 weeks the other 1 1/2.
