I'm thinking ex-brothel?

  • Plenty of screened-off parking
  • Edge of town
  • Everything is wipe-clean and soulless
  • Too many bedrooms
  • Weird lack/size of bathrooms
  • Covered sex pond

My parents live in a very well to do part of the Home Counties. One of their neighbours was busted for running a brothel.

Being near St Albans means bugger all. I'm wondering if it's more gambling den though.

TheCanyon · 17/05/2022 18:12

Why the need for plug sockets so high up?

Lochnesslassie · 17/05/2022 18:13

Ok, I'm 55 yrs old but I have to ask - what's a sex pond?
I know I'm going to be embarrassed now

Cookerhood · 17/05/2022 18:16

Hot tub = sex pond on MN for some reason.

paxman · 17/05/2022 18:18

Why so many ladders?
why so many ladders against a tree?

cutebutscary · 17/05/2022 18:19

I'm feeling short changed that there's no sex dungeon or copious amounts of red and black lace and not a gimp outfit in sight . It's just a generic done up house

CorsicaDreaming · 17/05/2022 18:19

Wow. Weird and awful.
£1m as it's St Albans, I guess...

Ah thank you

CorsicaDreaming · 17/05/2022 18:23

@Cookerhood - to be fair that's not an exclusive Mumsnet thing.

My friend who I can't imagine has ever been on MN (male, not that necessarily counts him out... but it does for him) calls them sex ponds too.

Why the need for plug sockets so high up?

That's a new regulation isn't it - for easier accessibility?

Just looks like they prioritised bedrooms when they went up in to the loft. Not everyone likes en suites

This. It’s just been renovated by the look of it. Nothing suggests a house of ill repute to me.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 17/05/2022 18:36

I reckon a builder did it up himself in dribs and drabs and had no taste whatsoever. It's tasteless and dated. As for the other one, it's all right inside but has -1000000000 kerb appeal. I thought I was looking at an electricity substation from the lead photo.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 17/05/2022 18:38

Just because the estate agent labelled a room as a bedroom doesn’t mean it was used as such. Could have been two offices for people wfh and a couple of rarely used guest bedrooms.

Rubyroseyposey · 17/05/2022 18:40

Downstairs living areas arent bad, but why so much concrete 😬

Hallyup89 · 17/05/2022 19:12

One bathroom in a 3 bed house is normal, so why is it unreasonable to have 2 bathrooms in a 6 bed? I don't see anything that screams brothel, or indeed anything unusual. The price is insane, but that's another issue.

Pixiedust1234 · 17/05/2022 19:25

Is that a flood defence gate? That gate and the ramp and the house being so low to the drive screams NO!!! to me.

why so many ladders against a tree?

Alternative exit route for the clients? ;)

I'm amazed that people think St Albans couldn't possibly have a brothel. Plenty of well-to-do, entitled men = perfect client base.

Also amazed that no one thinks that one tiny, windowless shower room between 4 bedrooms in a million pound property is normal.

*unusual, not normal

Apologies for lack of lace and mirrors.

It doesn't look like it's been done well at all and I'd expect another shower/bathroom too.

ElenaSt · 17/05/2022 19:47

I quite like picture 4.

Horsemad · 17/05/2022 19:50

Love the second one, so light and airy. My perfect house. 🙂

SpiderinaWingMirror · 17/05/2022 20:20

That is someone's actual house that you are putting on one of the most popular websites in the country and suggesting its a brothel.
Seriously.

yesthatisdrizzle · 17/05/2022 20:34

RishiRich · 17/05/2022 14:50

The back garden has a lot of steps for someone with mobility issues.

One tiny shower room for four bedrooms?

Maybe I just have a filthy mind but it looks like a carpark for customers, a big downstairs space for partying and then maximum bedrooms for private encounters.

I did a course in garden design many moons ago, and those steps have been really badly designed - borderline unsafe, I'd say. I wouldn't want to negotiate them in high heels after I've had a few, let's put it that way. It's going to be fun trying to do any maintenance on that sunken hot tub as well.

Minimalme · 17/05/2022 20:41

You lot are a tough crowd. It's got bifold doors and looks like every inch the boring, vast and overdone house I'd expect from people with money.

LetHimHaveIt · 17/05/2022 20:52

NightmareSlashDelightful · 17/05/2022 14:54

That's such a depressing house. Something about it feels really flat and sort of... peevish.

Peevish?
