How was your friday 13th?

Couldnt see a thread already so apologies if I missed one.

I had a good day except for 2 bits:

  1. The parents of the children in my DS class were all sent a very belittling email from the principal of the school. 😡
  1. I had been covering for my manager all week and had been doing really well. Attended all calls with the other managers and no issues. Today very senior manager joined the call. My phone cut out in the middle of the call. I re-joined and toward the end got cut off again. That time my phone played hold music to everyone in the call so senior manager and all the other managers probably think I put them on hold to take another call 😵

How was your day?

Staff team of 4. Only I showed up. Happy long weekend slackers.

Trialsandtribulationsoflife · 13/05/2022 19:22

Awful day.
I’ve been on the verge of tears with stress and frustration and the final straw was a horrible “Trials is in charge of this” comment, when it absolutely is not my job, and has made me feel really undervalued and lower than ever.
Everyone else seems to start their day standing around with a cuppa chatting about their plans for the weekend whilst I’m running my arse of getting everything ready.
🙏🏻please can I win the lotto!

Picked for Y6 writing moderation, yay.

Honestly I second this I've just flipped shit at the children for doing the exact thing I told them NOT to do which was wail and whine at the xbox ive had enough im all cried out I couldn't watch an inspiration tiktok right now without crying

Fucking absurd I'm in my 40s

DockOTheBay · 13/05/2022 19:45

Didn't even realise that was the date today 🤣

Started my period so feeling pretty crappy and eaten a lot of junk today! I've got some white chocolate orange that I've found reduced in the local shop - they only usually sell them at Christmas so that was a big win!

JMAngel1 · 13/05/2022 19:48

Didn't realise it was Friday 13th until half way through tge day. Had a really productive day at work but now feel really sad as heard on news about a baby who died in a nursery near to us. Can't stop thinking about the poor parents.

Herecomesthesunshine · 13/05/2022 19:06

Oh dear. Hope the day improved after that.

It improved my afternoon meetings were cancelled so that was good.
Dh cooked supper. So improved throughout the day.

Vampirethriller · 13/05/2022 18:42

@HerRoyalNotness where did you get maple bacon doughnuts? They sound amazing!!
I've had a good day. Cleaned, made a very nice cabbage and lentil daal, walked the dog. I didn't even realise it was the 13th until I saw this.

I’m in the US, got it a little independent donut shop. The chains only have regular iced and cream filled. I didn’t take a photo of it but I also have this lemon meringue one and a s’mores. I might luck out and get one of those to eat too 🐷 the other is red velvet that I know my oldest will like. It’s considerably smaller

I let out a small but loud fart during a cystoscopy.

Apart from that it's been great

Bouledeneige · 13/05/2022 21:33

Just want to say as someone born on the 13th that I have no fear of the day or date. Indeed I believe it to be a day of good fortune. I arrived.

My day to today was good but uneventful. I've had a busy week with sone high pressure presentations on Wednesday and Thursday in a new role. Today I surprisingly got some chill time back as a couple of meetings got cancelled. So I caught up on emails, sorting stuff etc. And I went out to a local cafe for lunch and had some time sitting in the garden in the sun reading paperwork. Bliss. I'm drinking wine and watching Netflix this evening. Happy day.

KingJeremyTheWickedd · 13/05/2022 22:04

Lovely day celebrating Ds’s 2nd birthday!!

Signoramarella · 13/05/2022 22:09

Started well. A lovely interview and then was offered the job ! But then spent 3 hours in A and E with ds...so going downhill fast! Only 2 hours left of the 13th though so can't get any worse!

bluesky45 · 13/05/2022 22:13

My first day having covid so feeling pretty ropey. Luckily, when I woke up this morning I thought I would have to manage both DC on my own all day feeling rubbish, but DH rang his boss who is recently recovered from covid and it wiped her out so she was very sympathetic and told him to take the day off to look after the DC and that I should get plenty of rest. So I've spent most of the day in bed

Amei · 13/05/2022 22:18

Someone's used my bank card at Nando's.co.uk Angry

MrsH497 · 13/05/2022 22:28

Amazing it was my daughters 2nd birthday and we finally got to celebrate a birthday for her properly after being born in lockdown 1 and her 1st birthday also in lockdown

Bloodybridget · 13/05/2022 22:28

@Kowloondairy congratulations to your DH on completing treatment. Wishing him a long and healthy life.
My day has been pretty good. Aqua aerobics, coffee with friend, another friend whom I haven't seen for ages arrived to stay for two nights and we've been talking and talking; we go back a long way.
Three years ago today I got a cancer diagnosis. Although now stage 4, I'm alive and healthy and optimistic about having some good years.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 13/05/2022 22:33

I was born on Friday 13th but it was a Good Friday which I reckon cancelled that out.

Today the new oven that was meant to arrive didn’t, and a mattress that was already delivered two months ago, did. I sent it away. Can’t cook on a mattress [insert joke about being hot in bed].

Tricky work day also. But now bath, and gin.

whatatanker · 13/05/2022 22:39

Not so good. Had an interview today.

  1. Had a hayfever style attack just before it
  2. Had a stark realisation in between waiting for panel interviews etc that the job was just not right for me
  3. Had a bit of a drumming from the Head as to why I was doing a side step in my career
  4. Had a mini meltdown cry in traffic on the way home as I had been really pinning my hopes on this position, but it wasn’t really what I wanted
  5. Now feel a bit lost, really.
AllLopsided · 13/05/2022 22:42

Got my IV meds at the pain clinic so had a pain-free hour while they ran through, and still have less pain than I have had all week, so a win! Feeling a bit blue though as I'm only 55 and I fear this is what the rest of my life looks like.

On the downside my sick cat is missing because it was a lovely day, he was desperate to go out, we felt he deserved some quality of life... now I am worried he won't come back. Yes I know we are terrible cat slaves.

CoodleMoodle · 13/05/2022 22:44

DD8 has chickenpox and it's awful. She caught them from DS3 and he wasn't bothered at all, not even one scratch or a temperature. He had lots of spots but DD is really suffering, I guess because she was exposed to it longer than he was.

We've done all of the normal stuff (creams, porridge baths, antihistamines, etc) but it's driving her barmy. She has sensory issues which is making it worse. We had an okay day to start with because it was just the two of us for once (DS was at preschool, DH working), but the spots have spread massively and she's just been miserable, poor thing. Sleeping peacefully so far though, long may it continue!

Badger1970 · 13/05/2022 22:47

Dog was sick on the stairs overnight so was scrubbing carpet at 6am.

DH's cardiac operation got cancelled. He's on the "priority" list, but has been waiting since October. Private not an option due to speciality, and his medication isn't working. Feel incredibly depressed about it all tonight, this all started in March 2020 and we're absolutely no further forward. And to top it all, he's been isolating for 3 days leaving me to carry the load at work (joint business). So I've had a shit week for no reason at all.

And our grandaughter has been in hospital after a nasty freak accident. She now needs to go to the regional specialist centre that Dh's op was due to take place it, so I guess we were destined to be there this weekend....... and DD is in bits blaming herself.

It's been a fucking shit day.

AllLopsided · 14/05/2022 00:16

Missing cat has been found. Went out to check if he was around (in my nightshirt!) and he was curled up on a garden chair with his sister, all insouciant! Gave him belated meds and a midnight snack and brought him in.

Sorry about your DH and granddaughter, Badger

StillMedusa · 14/05/2022 01:02

£235 at the vets for my dog who has had terrible diahorrea (probably a bug as she's not a scavenger) and 'christened' our brand new bedroom floor....
plus her seasonal allergies jab... ouch.

Then another £200+ on my new glasses.

Then the horrifying totalling up of the cost of a new bedroom (household disaster..needed new floor, bed, wardrobes..the lot) Credit card is in shock and to top it all we are all feeling lousy.. testing negative for Covid so far but we all have snots and shovers and headaches so I'm not holding my breath....

Stillavetjust · 14/05/2022 01:27

I worked from 8 til 4:30 with no break at all. I went to the toilet once. Too much work, not enough staff. It was crazy, and I’m still too wired to sleep.
