Looking for other women for D&D

Hi I'm in the UK and looking to get into playing D&D with some other women. It's proven quite hard to find a women's group so I'm hoping to put together one of my own.

I've never played before so any levels of experience would be welcome. If you've done this before I'd definitely appreciate having someone around that knows the ropes!

Ideally I'd like to have a go as an adventurer but would happily have a shot at being DM if no one else fancies it.

I've put up an ad on a popular D&d forum and have 2 other players interested, but hoping to get a party of up to 6 players + DM if possible.

I was thinking we could meet for game nights either fortnightly or monthly depending on what works for everyone, probably in the evenings to accommodate those with children.

I recently got into it via my male partner. I don't really have time to join another group but good luck with it. Its fun and creative and a good way to just exercise your brain outside of work and vegging in front of netflix. I also run the club at school where the kids basically run it and DM themselves. Its gradually becoming more mainstream and "nerd / geek chic" is becoming a more accepted part of the culture. Google "Geek Retreat" cafes - its a franchise and they're great. Cafes with big tables and staff who run sessions on how to play all sorts of this kind of game. Where in the UK are you?

oh and @worriedaboutmoney2022 - don't let the door hit you on the way out - narrow minded, nasty, judgemental people generally don't do well in the gaming community which is one of the friendliest and most inclusive dynamics I have ever seen. If you're "worried about money" a hobby which can be done with online resources for free sounds like a good shout, but hey ho.

I've heard of LARPing before and I'd do that too! Grin Honestly if it involves getting fancy dress on, I'm pretty much in! Sadly there aren't any LARP groups around where I am either.

@ClaryFairchild Aw that's a shame, maybe there will be some other posters from your end of the world who'll see your post and you could group up!

@ChiselandBits The kids group sounds amazing! I'd like to introduce my DN&Ns to it when they are a bit older. And the cafe sounds like an excellent bit of fun too!

The private messaging function here in mumsnet still seems to be a bit wonky so if anyone is still waiting to get an invite @ me and I'll keep trying.

If anyone else missed a place in the group I set up, there is still a general server you can be added to. There's a enough people who would like to party up to make up another couple of groups already. Come join in!

We could really do with one or two other volunteer Dungeon Masters as well, if anyone would be interested? If I can do it anyone can! Grin

Just sticking my head in to say how happy I am so see groups of women joining forces to do this! Although i don’t have the availability to join (I’m raiding in world of Warcraft 😃) it really warms my heart to see this on Mumsnet ❤️

@Maybepossibly22 It's great isn't it? So far it's been a lovely space and my groups first game together was great fun!

If you're ever free for a game let us know, we've got some WoW players over there too btw Grin

We could really do with some more DMs though tbh! I'm gonna run a few one shots soon for the players still waiting. I'll do them every now and then, which will hopefully be fun and tide everyone who is still waiting over till they find a regular group and DM.
