Looking for other women for D&D

Hi I'm in the UK and looking to get into playing D&D with some other women. It's proven quite hard to find a women's group so I'm hoping to put together one of my own.

I've never played before so any levels of experience would be welcome. If you've done this before I'd definitely appreciate having someone around that knows the ropes!

Ideally I'd like to have a go as an adventurer but would happily have a shot at being DM if no one else fancies it.

I've put up an ad on a popular D&d forum and have 2 other players interested, but hoping to get a party of up to 6 players + DM if possible.

I was thinking we could meet for game nights either fortnightly or monthly depending on what works for everyone, probably in the evenings to accommodate those with children.

I'm sorry but there are no spaces left for the moment, the morning bump filled up the last few spaces.

Would it be a good idea to have everyone at the initial conversation?
It may make it easier to find a time that suits 6 people, if you start with 8 or 10! If you start with 12, there'll be enough for two groups!

It's brilliant, hope you manage to set something up! Women's spaces are really important. It's a bit weird a bloke asked to join, though.

Will you up date here or will you DM the first people that responded? I’m really pleased at the amount of responses you got. See we had one negative comment unfortunately. I kind of get used to them as a gamer of many years.

Just to add discord is easy to use though not the greatest looking platform. You can set it up so you only receive messages from actual people you have friended which I would advise.

Thank you! I'm organising a single Session 0 in the next wee while so we can all get together and say a quick hi before we sort out scheduling and all the other bits and bobs.

One of them even offered to be our Dungeon Master... <-not envy!

They were all thankfully polite in their initial messages and surprisingly after getting politely knocked back, but one equally predictably messaged me on and off for a day and a half after that lol.

Kind of proved myself a little bit right about wanting to start up a women's only game I think ha ha!

Maybe everyone could be added to a discord server? Then we've got a collection of women interested who can form own groups, maybe have a lfg channel but still a central place to discuss tips, ideas etc?

My son has set up discord servers so I could see if he will give me some tuition so I could do it. He is currently asleep after a night shift so I can’t ask till this afternoon.

I'm not sure if that wouldn't just be a bit overwhelming for me with organising this game, but I think it'd be pretty freaking cool if everyone ended up being able to do that and find groups!

Yes! Not to mention the skill and artistry some people put into their costumes, some of them are amazing!

I know they say they do things on a budget but tbh one of the reasons I liked the idea of D&d is that it can be free/cheap to play, because really who has the extra pennies these days?
