Looking for other women for D&D

Hi I'm in the UK and looking to get into playing D&D with some other women. It's proven quite hard to find a women's group so I'm hoping to put together one of my own.

I've never played before so any levels of experience would be welcome. If you've done this before I'd definitely appreciate having someone around that knows the ropes!

Ideally I'd like to have a go as an adventurer but would happily have a shot at being DM if no one else fancies it.

I've put up an ad on a popular D&d forum and have 2 other players interested, but hoping to get a party of up to 6 players + DM if possible.

I was thinking we could meet for game nights either fortnightly or monthly depending on what works for everyone, probably in the evenings to accommodate those with children.

@forrestgreen Aw I'm really sorry you missed us, I wish I was confident and experienced enough to do more than one campaign at a time. It would be really interesting to see how different parties dealt with the adventures differently!

I definitely think people should club together and do a discord server/get other games going!

I've created (a very basic!) discord server where we can all chat/discuss and organise other groups, I guess pm if you want the link to it?

What a great idea- my DD is only 17 so too young for your group just now, but good luck for your campaign (all my DC are D&D/Blades in the Dark campaigners /DMs and I've been in a few of their games over lockdown!)

i have to ask what is d and d? i initially saw the opening post and thought dinner and dancing lol but it doesn't seem to be that!

Have sent a PM, its very exciting to find other women who are also into Dnd, its hard to find in RL

Its Dungeons and Dragons, a roleplaying story game where you create a character, choose their fighting style/ magic style, their race (eg elf/ dwarf/ human/ etc), and then collectively use your imagination as a group to play through a story based game, called a campaign, led by a DM (dungeon master, basically the lead storyteller who plans everything) and then you roll dice to see how things go during the game, whether a spell works, an arrow fired hits the target, a lock opens etc.

Just bizarre who on earth has time, inclination or just wants to be weird as a grown woman(?) to disparage other grown women online for having a hobby that affects you in no way whatsoever.

Hmm. I find his message to be a little bit “women can’t understand D&D because it’s too hard, so here’s an easier game for you”. D&D isn’t difficult or daunting or lacking in character-focus. And pausing to look through rule books and have debates is part of the fun! The game he’s proposing sounds a bit girly and boring tbh. Shame I missed your earlier post, I’m an old hand at D&D and I’d have been up for an online game.

I know women in professional careers that play D&D, and also other RPGs too.

I wish I had the confidence tbh.

DH and one of the DC play MtG, and also we have played Hero Quest together. Not too different from D&D.

I would be interested in joining the server while waiting for a spot. Ex was into table top gaming etc. Board gaming family etc. We tried D&D but as 2 newbies & a teen we found it hard going

Paawi googled it and I would suggest others do too, he's definitely a creep and I wouldn't recommend anyone contact him! <- Really, really not envy!

Have you heard of LARP OP? It’s basically D&D But in real life in a camping event setting. Not sure if that helps but I’m sure you’d meet loads of female groups there or similar minded people!
