Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

This thread is fucking carnage.
OP: tell me the most unpleasant celeb you've met.
mumsnet: Such and such - met them at No Place, they did this this and that, they were absolutely lovely.

SailingNotSurfing · 10/05/2022 16:15

I've met a few celebrities over the years, but mostly for a few minutes, so not really able to form an objective opinion. However, I spent the day once, with Dermott O'Leary and Kate Thornton, when they were filming a pilot gameshow (it never saw the light of day) and he was lovely, down to earth and friendly to everyone. Kate only talked and flirted with the men there, she wasn't interested in chatting to us women.

Johnny Vaughan - he was in the same queue as me at passport control being arrogant, loud and self important - everyone in the queue was tired after their flight and he just would not shut up.

I can second this, my DH absolutely loves him and bumped into him walking around London and he had a decent chat with him and let him get a selfie.

Yes! Ian Wright is a top bloke, very friendly..

I was on a flight with Johnny Vaughan and his family years ago. He was loud, rude and arrogant. His wife was lovely and his kids were very well behaved and quiet. I got the impression they were as fed up with him as much as the crew and passengers were.

The ones who come up here time and time again then fair enough… Anthony cotton I can’t believe he hasn’t been dropped from coronation street yet. He’s not even a good actor or entertaining.

Just for balance though- some might just be having a bad day. I blew up at the man who posted the same local advert brochure through my door again this week (timed perfectly during mid meltdown from my 11 year old autistic daughter after the SATs have got to her). This after asking politely for him not to previously (it goes straight into the recycling). I’m sure he would tell the world I’m a right arsehole. I’m usually quite nice and can be exceptionally kind without expecting recognition if I like someone or think they need looking after in some way. I’d hate to be judged on those bad moments if someone got in my space in a bad moment though.

Howard from the Halifax adverts- arsehole!

Ha ha! I used to work for the Halifax and remember when they were recruiting for this position! Yep-arsehole!

MrsAJCrowley · 10/05/2022 16:25

I met Jeremy clarkson at a bbq once. He’s very quick witted but we had a good chat about history for a while and he was perfectly pleasant. His children were very well behaved too (I’ve said that now, his kids are probably pushing 30 that’s how long ago it was!) 😂

Ace Of Base

So up their own arse. They thought they were ABBA.

Oh and Gareth Gates! He was performing onboard p&o Britannia in July 2018! He announced he would meet fans after the show but stood there constantly looking at his watch. I got a picture with him and as I was walking away, I heard him say to his entourage "how much longer do I need to do this for?"

Is he supposed to find you fascinating?

That would make sense. I met him when he did a PA and book signing for "Straight". He was awful and acted like he didn't want to be there. A few weeks later he was arrested for holding a rent boy hostage and being back on drugs.

waterlego · 10/05/2022 16:33

I had a different experience to a PP with Jarvis Cocker. I have been a huge fan since the mid 90s and met him after my musician friend played in a gig with him in the early 2000s.

Everyone was in the pub afterwards, performers and audience members alike, and Jarvis was surrounded by kooky London hipster types hanging off his every word. I felt so awkward and self-conscious about approaching him and almost talked myself out of it but knew I’d never get the opportunity again so I went and said hello and asked if he would sign something for me. He moved away from his entourage to spend 5 minutes chatting with me (quite a bizarre conversation but nothing unpleasant!) and he signed the CD I had brought with me and agreed to have his photo taken with me. It’s a much treasured memory!

Inthesameboatatmo · 10/05/2022 16:36

Eamon and his Mrs. Whatever her name is ,Ruth. Both so fuckin rude I wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.

diddl · 10/05/2022 16:38

Last time I saw Andrew Lincoln in Tesco he was doing a good job of not being recognised, so I just smiled broadly as he walked towards me. And he grinned back and winked, probably grateful that I hadn’t made a fuss and alerted other people.

Oh my days.

A wink from Andrew Lincoln.

I think I would have fainted!

I was with DH so couldn’t betray much, but my goodness, the butterflies! 😁

FrodisCapering · 10/05/2022 16:42

@CotswoldWoolly ooohh please, please elaborate on Paul and Linda. I am such a massive fan of his, and he's always seemed so nice. Have we all been fooled?

ilovesushi · 10/05/2022 16:44

I met Andrew Lincoln a few times about twenty years ago when we were both heading to/ queuing at the same sandwich place on the South Bank for lunch. Seemed like a lovely bloke.

GoonersGirl · 10/05/2022 16:44

John Craven stayed at a hotel I worked … lovely chatty man, talked about Newsround etc. His daughter, on the other hand, could do with learning some manners….
Kris Akabussi was great fun, chatted to everyone and is just like his tv persona.
Adrian Chiles… rude and snooty.

IcedPurple · 10/05/2022 16:45

Am I the only one who hasn't heard of half of these 'celebrities'?

ValerieCupcake · 10/05/2022 16:49

I was once on a flight from Portugal and there was a bloke from Emmerdale on the plane sitting behind us with his wife. They had an argument and weren't speaking by the time they got off.

musicviking1 · 10/05/2022 16:49

@TaranThePigKeeper omg I am crushed...I've also met Andrew Lincoln and he also winked at me. Haha.

RachelGreeneGreep · 10/05/2022 16:52

I have never met any celebrities, damn it 😁

Bearsan · 10/05/2022 16:54

Vinnie Jones - absolutely vile.
Bobby Charlton- rude.
I used to work somewhere and met a lot of footballers - most were really polite/nice. Those two stand out as bloody horrible.

ApresSailingQueen1 · 10/05/2022 17:00

I once met Prince Henrik of Denmark. He was very smiley and friendly. But his handshake was so firm it really hurt my hand! (His home grown wine was also a little astringent to my tastes).
