Dreadful UTI - what to do (probably TMI)

Start by saying I've tried phoning my GP - spent 25 minutes in the queue and by the time I got through no appointments left and try again tomorrow Sad

I've got some kind of nasty UTI. Exhausted and if anything slightly disorientated. Slight fever. Lower back pains. Nausea. Usually nasty symptoms of rushing to loo every 5 minutes almost constant discomfort / sort of fizzy feeling especially when weeing . Urine is colour of red wine so clearly full of blood and lots of blood when I wipe and also dribbling blood beween my endless toilet visits - definitely not period

I'm drinking loads of water, having horrible cranberry juice, pain killers, DP got some cystitis stuff from chemist but in pain and sick of rushing to toilet. Nothing helping.

Phoned 111 and told them all this and was told me to see my GP tomorrow - they said I can't go to walk in without appointment but wouldn't book me one (sure it used to be possible to do that???) Can hardly got to A&E its only a urine infection but my god I feel miserable.

Anything else I can do to help.. please. I feel sh*t.

Oops just seen your update!

BoDerek · 10/05/2022 12:16

Good update but do rest as much as possible. Sounds like a horrible infection 💐

JuneOsborne · 10/05/2022 18:27

Oh, you poor thing. Glad they still saw you.

Drink shit loads of water. Your bladder is like a puddle and some water remains at the bottom, so you need to really fill it up to flush it out.

And yy to rest. Don't underestimate the effect such a nasty infection has on you, your body is fighting hard.

Hope you feel better soon

Go to a&e. I had very similar symptoms OP and a few hours later passed out at home luckily my DP was there. I was admitted via ambulance and spent almost 2 weeks in hospital on a cocktail of IV medications for kidney infection turned sepsis. I have had issues with the kidney ever since.

Glad you got seen and were treated with meds and compassion. UTIs, at the strength your was, are horrid!

Steamoutmyears · 10/05/2022 19:31

If you get another soon after this, ask for a three month course of abon a prophylaxis dose to avoid it becoming a chronic issue.
